We chose the Superior Shores hotel because it had an interesting website and was on the waterfront in Thunder Bay The hotel has had a recent upgrade. The art work in the room we had was wonderful and done by local artists. Check in was efficient, the staff were friendly. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The downtown area where the hotel is situated is not the safest but it is close to some good restaurants. We would recommend it and would stay there again.

We stayed three nights. The hotel was clean and comfortable but it's not far from the tracks and we could hear trains at all hours. Recommended, as long as you're not bothered by the sound of trains.

Stayed five days . Noticed hairs left on shower walls. Told front desk hairs were still there after five days. Other issues were floor not cleaned , toilet not cleaned, sink not cleaned, counter not cleaned, towels not supplied . Mentioned cleanliness every day to front desk yet nothing improved. Last morning had to ding breakfast staff to get spoons , butter put out. Overall a disappointing stay for a Best Western affiliated hotel.

Pay the extra $$$ and stay elsewhere in Thunder Bay! This town has a high crime rate and from all appearances this area is the epicentre. Lots of road construction in the area meant that this property was nearly impossible to drive into or even leave! Our room was sort of updated but the bathroom floor was dirty, all public areas could use a good cleaning and the front desk staff looked like they’d rather be anywhere else than at work. And we paid over $250 including taxes to stay in this mess of a place.

The property itself was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The area around the property seemed a little sketchy, but we got in rather late and left early, so it might have looked different in the full light of day.

First the good things. Coffee machine in breakfast area was outstanding. Espresso cappuccino, regular coffee all available and very good tasting. Lots of options for breakfast. Muffins were very good. Staff very friendly Negatives about breakfast were scrambled eggs very overdone, oatmeal was extremely liquidy the first day the second and third day it got thicker but was never hot. Server very good about trying to accommodate you. Hotel had been recently remodeled with upgrades in the rooms. That said, upholstered furniture in room 505 definitely needed cleaning and filters in AC units definitely needed. Cleaning Beds were reasonably comfortable, pillows. Pretty firm . Check/in was a little bit challenging because we were not aware at first the parking was available across the street. And parking next to building was extremely limited.

Hotel is clean and well renovated. Hotel amenities are spare but provided free of charge. Staff is friendly and while I didn't have any questions for them I watched them provide excellent service and direction to several guests who asked.

Thunder Bay

Trip across Canada , we stayed twice , front desk very helpful many restaurants in area casino , yes homeless in area but no problems rehabilitating centre is 3 block up from this area .
