My husband and are three small boys stayed two nights. We picked Shilo because of the great rate and also location to our destinations in the area. Fortunately my poor rating isn’t based on anything catastrophic however it was a lot of little things that added up throughout our stay that defiantly make us regret our choice. Let’s just go in order first thing when we got into our room the smoke detector was chirping. Maintenance did come and fix it however this was not a good start. I went into use the restroom and there was a very large bug on the bathroom floor some type of earwig. When looking for something to squish the bug I grabbed the hand towel that was hanging over the bathtub it had a very large black hair hanging off of it super gross and can't imagine how housekeeping could miss it! We have a crawling baby so naturally when we arrive anywhere I get on the floor level to look for sharp corners and such, when doing so I lifted the bed skirts to both of the beds to my surprise I found what looked like small pieces of onion ring crumbles underneath BOTH beds within my babies reach. Even though I cleaned it up we were very hesitant to let the baby climb on the floor! The over all cleaning of the room was rushed as I found many areas of dust and dirt. There is no on-demand movie service and there’s no DVD player so because the only kid friendly programming is CNW/Disney which is not really for small children anymore we were left with very few appropriate choices. Overall there was a musky dirty smell in the room but when opening the windows there was no screen to keep the bugs out or generally make you feel safe. During our booking we requested a room in the hotel that was quiet. We did notice that our room was away from the freeway which we appreciated however we were literally right next to the elevator. You think they would considered that so throughout the night we kept hearing the elevator go up and down up and down and it literally shook the wall. Our oldest son has a mental disability and he is extremely sensitive to sound this is why requested the room to be in a quiet location! The shower was very frustrating hot then very cold over and over and this was at a morning shower time and my hubs tried at night same thing!! Overall the customer service at the front desk was pleasant but definitely not friendly. The ladies at the breakfast barely spoke any English and they were definitely rude. Our second day we went down to breakfast we arrived at 8:00 AM plenty of time to eat but they were literally out of waffle mix and ALL of the five cereal choices! Very difficult when standing there with three small boys. I went over to fill my morning coffee they were out of that too! Oh and the best part they had no high chairs for families with babies very frustrating. The vending machines in the hallway only took credit/debit cards are you freaking serious no cash/change that kind of ruins it with my kids look forward to visiting the vending machine at night for snacks. The pool we do have to say was very nice however that would be the only positive. I hardly ever write reviews unless something is fantastic or very poor unfortunately in this situation I will never return to this hotel or any Shilo for that matter!

Always a great place. I was disappointed that the sauna & steam room were not repaired, other than that very nice. I did not use room service during my stay. I picked up a towels soap and other items from staff. Thanks Terry Wetzel 818-437-4671

The rooms were very well taken care of. We enjoyed our stay. The price was amazingly cheaper then we had seen it advertised online which was awesome! The rooms were very clean. All the staff and lovely reception ladies were amazing at check in and check out! Everything was great and we couldn't be any happier with our little vacation stay. Thank you for everything! Much appreciated!

I stayed here for some nearby real estate training and enjoyed a clean, comfortable space that was quieter than expected. The shower was hot and the room had everything I needed including cool air conditioning, a flat screen tv and mini-fridge. The staff was helpful and I could tell that many of the day to day employees had love in their hearts.

We needed a one night stay in Tacoma and based on the other TripAdvisor reviews, I booked this hotel. On the plus side, I got a great deal in the price; the room was clean; the bed was comfortable. On the not so plus side, the hotel is old and looks it - worn. Lots of road noise and we were not on the I5 side! We used the air conditioner to drown it out and slept fine. Staff were friendly and the breaki was OK. For one night, it was OK but not great.

Stayed 5 nights,Diana,Tiffany,and the other desk staff went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I have no complaints,very excellent staff ,nice comfortable room,i will stay here again when i visit Tacoma. Thank You.

A very roomy and comfortable stay. Included TV, Bar fridge, table and chairs, Sofa and Ottoman. Breakfast was complementary fruit, muffins, Danish, coffee, tea, OJ, milk, cereals, waffle maker. Bathroom clean, shower excellent

Pros: hotel location next to lots of restaurants and shopping, indoor pool Cons: Staff dishonest, management unresponsive, dated facility I stayed at the Shilo Inn Tacoma on US military official travel. I was excited to stay there because there is a Shilo near to where I live in Killeen, TX that I've heard nothing but great comments about. Unfortunately, this hotel did not live up to that reputation. First impression the exterior of the hotel was clean and there was convenient parking, though I was a bit concerned about the homeless person that was on the corner and remained there through the duration of my visit. I had trouble at check-in as the woman on duty did not honor the contracted rate booked through the military's official travel booking website (DTS). She said she would have to talk to a manager, but could get this fixed before I checked out. I asked a few times, but the correction was never made. The clerk asked for copies of my military ID card and driver's license and then made copies of them without asking permission. This is something we are told in training never to allow anyone to do. My travel plans changed and I had to depart 2 days early (stayed 2 nights, originally booked 4 nights). I talked to the front desk receptionist the day prior to departure, who told that was no problem and I would receive credit for any payment already made. At this point, I realized that I was charged up-front for the entire length of the reservation; I was not charged at check out as is normal at other hotels. When I arrived to the hotel to check out, I informed the front desk person on duty that I was there to check out and that my original dates had changed so I was departing early. I explained that I had this discussion with the staff the day prior and was told it was ok. The woman on duty at check out (same who was there when I checked in) told me that no one had told her about my change and that she might have to charge me anyway. I asked to see the manager, who she said was not available. I turned in my room key and hotel parking pass and the receptionist gave me a copy of my checkout receipt that showed a credit due for the last two nights that I hadn't stayed at the hotel. Fast forward a week. I contacted the hotel and asked when I would receive the credit that was due per the receipt provided upon checkout. At this point, the hotel receptionist on the phone told me there was no record I had checked out--that her records showed I was there for 4 nights. I explained the situation once again. The receptionist said she could not help, but would speak to her manager. I emailed the hotel's main email address and followed up later with an email to the hotel general manager, each time explaining the entire situation and the people that I talked to on the staff. I have not received any responses to these emails or the requests to speak to the manger via phone or in person. I've had to file a dispute with the credit card company in attempt to get the funds back for the nights I did not stay at the hotel. This whole situation caused issues in filing my government travel voucher as the DTS system automatically populated the booked contract rates and I had to get special permission to reimburse a rate higher than what was on the reservation. I provided my Shilo Inns Star Rewards number when I checked in, but did not receive points for any of the days stayed during the visit. Hotel was clean, but dated, and lots of road noise. It would have been OK, if not for the billing issues. Other Shilo Inns have a good reputation, but this hotel certainly left a bad impression for me. Stayed March 19-21, 2018

We loved the pool, the customer service was nice, the room was comfortable and convince of the location right by the freeway was a bonus . Wanted to stay longer but were unable to. Beds were comfortable too.

Unless you like disorganized front desk staff, noisy, unclean and smelly rooms, and no food left an hour before breakfast ends, skip this place. Very disappointing. Only positive is good location and parking.
