I had a nice stay at this hotel. The location is very good, close to food and transportation. The staff was friendly and helpful with all my requests. However, some of the reception desk staff didn't understand English very well so it would be nice if they improve their English speaking skills in order to understand what hotel guests are saying. I got a nice quiet room with modern decor and nice bathroom. The breakfast lounge/bar was also nicely set up and I enjoyed the cheap happy hour drinks. The only thing I struggled with was the in-room wi-fi quality. The speed was low so it took a while to open any webpage, there were internet freezes and last but not least, the wi-fi was sliced up into 3-hour sessions. I don't know why it was set up that way but it was quite annoying and inconvenient to have to start a new session every 3 hours. Hotels of lower quality have much faster 24/7 uninterrupted wi-fi. I hope this hotel catches up with the rest of the world in terms its wi-fi quality. Other than that I had a pleasant stay and a restful sleep.
just ok, nothing special. good location if you want to catch the train but the area is not too great.
hotel is ok, nice coffee shop/bar downstairs. location is not great unless you are trying to catch a train since it's across from the train station. rooftop pool..yeah...not...
Hotel is very centrally located, with easy access to transport, restaurants, shopping, etc. The bedsheets, towels, etc. were crisp and nice. Very clean room and bath, in room coffee/tea. Parking expensive.
This is a good place to stay within walking distance of Central station, a few parks, Darling Harbour, Chinatown, and Paddy's Market. There's also a free bus route that goes right by that you can hop on to get a ride to Sydney Harbour as well.
The staff was very helpful! They helped us find great restaurants and helped us with our tourism itinerary. Nice hotel and beautiful rooms. I also enjoyed the location.
The people at this hotel make it a great place to stay. The service at reception, bar, dining, were excellent. Other hotel personnel I encountered in the halls were friendly, too. The room and bath are laid out well and spacious, with convenient amenities (shampoo, lotion, tea, coffee, and such) well suppied. The bed was a litle low and a little hard, but as this hotel is catering to travellers from many countries, with different sensibilities of comfortable sleep, its height and position make sense. Australian remote controlled thermostats are a wonderful thing--vastly superior to American hotel in their power, performance, and quiet. Stop at the bar and order a "lemon and bitters" for a lovely taste of Australia.
Great location. Close to free shuttle to circular quay and light rail to fish market and darling harbour.
This Hotel was Great!! Great Location right across from the Central train station in Sydney. The room was a nice size and very comfortable. The wifi worked well. The front desk staff was very helpful. Quick and efficient service when we needed assistance. There was a lovely pool on the roof. And there was a coffee shop right nearby.
We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, with no pressure. The room was quiet except for street noise, possibly because one of the double windows wasn't completely closed but screwed shut. Very easy to get around from the location. But notice the change of name of the hotel from Marque. Luckily our taxi driver found it fine. Also enjoyed the free shuttle the city provides.
Staff was friendly and helpful. They were kind enough to check us in prior to the allotted time. If help was needed they attended to it right away. As our departure were delayed they were friendly enough to use the rooftop pool area to relax by. Only room for improvement would be the poolside loungers which were broken and could not be used.
This hotel seems like someone had a great idea but just can't execute very well. There were many little things lacking that when you add them up make you feel like you are getting a half-baked experience. The room seems like they wanted to go ultra-modern W-style but forgot about any artistic style (there is nothing on the gray walls, not even a generic painting/picture). The shower concept is great (glass wall separating the rest of the bathroom, but the tile is cheap and water runs into the rest of the bathroom). Many little things like faucet-handles, etc. were loose, the shower by the upstairs pool was in a dirty bathroom and only had cold water, the outdoor chairs were torn and broken, etc. Even one of the clothes dryers was broken for a long period without ever being fixed. Internet was free wireless for 3 hours, but they wanted $24.95 for plugging in, which doesn't make sense. Also, the wireless was only allowed for one device so forget it if you have two iPhones and an iPad. From a service standpoint, the staff was nice but they just didn't have the right answers to help solve issues. The after-hours entry key-card reader was always broken but they never put up a sign telling guests that, even after we suggested. The cleaning staff was not willing to come back 10 minutes later to give us some flexibility, etc. There are too many things to list. I worry that they are entering a spiral where budget is tight so they are letting little things go, causing less guests, and less budget, etc. If some initial investment for design, remodeling, and fixing was put in and a competent owner was brought in I bet this place could turn around as the concept and location are great. I will be coming back to Sydney but will not book The Marque again given the plethora of other choices in the same price range. P.S. Be cautioned that checkout time is 10:00am and they will only extend it to 11:00am for free if you are lucky. This might be standard in Sydney, but I'm not sure.
Room was nice enough, but no 24 desk clerk.desk closed by 11PM. Very moldy smelly on our floor - 9th. Obviously a roof leak that was remedied with corrugated boxes. Very lax in picking up room service trays and rooftop pool chairs all broken. Otherwise fine. Breakfast the same everyday. Gets boring after a few days.
The hotel is centrally located to everything, very clean and modern. The only complaint we had was with the noise of the street and limited TV channels. But we were not there to watch TV and I don't know how you can prevent noises from a busy city like Sydney.
The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, easily accessible, and within walking distance to many of the main attractions.
We chose this hotel for the price, the location and generally decent reviews. It's not going to leave you feeling excited about what an amazing place it was but for the price it was clean, friendly and perfectly good. We were annoyed they charge just to make local phone calls and getting internet in our room was a pain but everything else was great. The rooftop pool is pretty cool.
I liked the internet cafe, 5 doors down the street which was $5.00 for 5 hours. Used this cafe to make plans for bus tours, and next hotel reservation, kept in touch with families. Hotel didn't have internet due to security reason, even though room had a connection to your laptop which I didn't have. Staff was helpful, and friendly.
