Not worth it. Quick review: Check in time was supposed to be 2pm, were told at 6:30pm we could check in Room was dirty when we arrived Keys did not work Had previous people staying in the room knock on our door at 6am to grab the stuff they'd left there (which was still there because the room had not been cleaned) No parking In-depth review: Came for a family trip to watch a concert. After a long trip were unable to be checked in. We were told they would call us when they our room was ready. Had to come back because we had to leave for the concert. We told to wait for a long time before we were served, and service was awful. We were unable to collect our keys, as the previous people were still in the room (it was 4:30pm by this point, they should have checked out at 10am) we were told someone would wait for us when we got back. We got a call at 6:30pm saying our room was ready. There is also no parking near by. Returned late from the concert, were given our keys. After trekking up 3 flights of stairs, our keys did not work. When the guy fixed our keys, the room had someone in it. Finally got into our room. It had not been cleaned. Had rubbish in the bins, rubbish in the bathroom, the previous owners toiletries in the bathroom (which they came back for at 6am). Other residents were walking the halls talking really loudly late at night. The room itself was modern, and the sheets and towels were clean and nice. Overall not a good experience.
This place is truely awful. This is NOT a hotel!!! The photos are very mis leading. Check in was awkward and you could bearly get a smile. Fan didn't work Bathroom was putrid Said someone was coming to clean it, didn't happen. They finally admitted 2 hours later that it was scheduled for the morning. No facilities, not even a small fridge. Hot, smelly, bugs everywhere And they keep charging my card. We didn't even stay on our last night, we found another place to stay!!!
We had a double room with a private ensuite and it was actually OK! Clean and a good shower. It was a bit stuffy as the windows don't open very far, and the fan provided only circulated the warm air. Plus the light on the breezeway stayed on all night keeping the room a bit brighter than I'd like. Easy to find parking on campus and a short walk to Newtown. Oh and Mr Receptionist, a 'please' or 'thank you' would work wonders for you. All in all, I definitely got more than $85 worth of value from this room.
Right be positive Dave. Beds are ok. Bed sheets were white. Good location, nice walk through campus to Victoria park. Newtown not far the other way with nice curry options, I like curry. However to the point, the white bed sheets would have done a better job at staffing the place. They double charged me and had no recollection of it but it may have been an extra charge for the 28 mosquitoes in the room and the pong in the toilet. My oh my it's good for the budget traveller... as long as they don't double charge you with no record of it. Peace.
The 'only good': Fair price. spent $200 for 3 nights and it was a last minute booking for two beds , roughly $33 each for a place to rest with good transport accessibility. The bad: Don't expect any sort of service from these guys. Was advised parking was available in the university parking bays for $6 for every day but they failed to mention you have to move your car at 6am everyday and find parking off campus somewhere else. I was handed a $108 fine and explained my situation to Hotel Space staff and the rude staffer with the beard and American accent was less than willing to empathize or help me find a solution or someone to discuss the parking fine. He treated me asking to speak with a manager like I was asking for classified information from the FBI. What you're paying for is a 3 x 3m room with two beds and a fresh towel each morning. That's it. This is far from a hotel experience, no fresh sheets, no made beds, no instructions for local transportation, nothing. Enjoy your towel and go have a shower because that's probably the best thing going for them. If I could review this with 0 stars, I would. If you're traveling with friends or family, spend the extra $20-30 / night and find a place with a kitchen, cafes and people who can provide real customer service.
Stayed here for 5 nights- needed somewhere close to the city and this was exactly that. About 20 mins walk from the station so it was ideal. It was a very basic room which is what we expected with it being university accommodation. The only negative would be that the room was EXTREMELY warm! There was a fan that was good for the night but the room itself was very stuffy! Shower and bathroom facilities were very good and clean!
Newtown space has transformed a college resident as a cheap accommodation. I would say it is only the last resort for those who are desperate and wanting something that are slightly better than backpackers. I stayed here for two nights to sit my exams nearby but I realised it was a real bad decision. I would never come back again and recommend this place to any one. - On first night I had absolutely no sleep as there were so many mosquitos. The window was leaking and mosquito was continuously through the gap. - Their free wifi is not free wifi. You have to pay $5 for 1GB and another $5 for another 5GB. - No reception is available after hours so I could not even make any complaint that night. - The room was smelly and stuffy. - No duvet available in the room - Bathrooms are shared between male and females. University male and female residents are walking around with just towels for shower - No kitchen, no water supply available Everyone I met at the place were complaining. Stay away people. The photo shows only about half of all the mosquitos i had killed
Newtown Space is an average hostel, but NOT a hotel. We originally booked for a triple room with three seperate beds. However, on check in, they had given us a double room. The receptionest blamed a booking error, however I have been checked my booking at it was definately for a triple. Luckly, there was a spare triple room, but only one with a double bed an a single, so two of my guests had to share, and were not too happy. The room itself was clean, but very hot without airconditioning. The room is cleaned on a schedule, and our day was thursday. However, by Saturday it had not been cleaned, and only happened after I went to reception and asked for clean sheets. Toilets are shared and cleaned daily, but constantly have hairs in the sink. The hotel was also under construction, so the ground floor was contrantly dusty. Overall, this is an average hostel, but is NOT a hotel at all.
First of all it was difficult to find we had booked the ensuite room as we do not like sharing bathrooms. When we did get to the hotel there was not anywhere to park to off load the suitcases.no one to help with the suitcases. So we left the car on the road took the suitcases approx 100 yards to the front doors then we had to find the car park we were told it was 25 dollars to park for the night but the machine would only take 6 dollars and we had to leave the car park at 6am as you could not put any more money in and it was a private car park. No one to explain what to do reception had not got a clue. The room was clean the sheets were clean and the bed comfortable but only 1 thin pillow per person shower doors were broken and would only open a little way so if you were over 11 stone you stood no chance of getting in. Some very nice bath shower and washing cleansers. No tea coffee making facilities no cups glasses or fridge and no where to get any food or drink from. So if you only want a bed for the night it's okay but a hotel it is not
We loved staying here as we are such history buff's. We strolled the gardens taking pics of the outside of the buildings. We even strolled round the corridors enjoying theold fixtures etc.Mirriam who worked in the kitchen was so helpful and friendly she couldn't do enough for us, she is a real treasure. We would definitely recommend you stay here it's basic but clean.we will stay here again for sure.
