Holiday Inn Old Sydney the Rocks4.0 out of 5.0

Holiday Inn Old Sydney the Rocks was a short walk to the Opera House, as well as multiple restaurants and stores. It was also close to trains and buses which made it easy to access a number of other areas in Australia. Unfortunately, the rooftop pool was closed for repairs while we were there, so while we were able to check out the gorgeous views from the roof, we could not sit and enjoy them for any length of time. Only a few square meters of deck were accessible. The staff was excellent, and knowledgeable about the area.
hotel nice. hot tub broken first 3 days. fixed but needs temps fixed water not warm. heated pool water cold.
We spent one night at the hotel. It was an overall great experience. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were very helpful right from getting a room ready for me earlier since my flight arrived in the morning, to providing any information, help I needed.
I love it I love it I love it Wow I love it love it love it
The hotel was decent. The location could not have been better for our trip. This Holiday Inn is located in the less frenetic part of Sydney the historical Rocks. It is also a walk across the street to The Quay and a quick few blocks to the Sydney Harbor Bridge. A real plus is the rooftop pool and patio giving views of the city. Bed was comfortable. Rooms seemed to have had fresh paint. HVAC for room could be updated.
The location was great, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived around 10 am but they stored our bags and delivered them to our room before we came back for the evening. The only complaint is that the room temperature could not be controlled by individual rooms. The vent blew cold air non-stop, and I was very cold in the room. (But for some people, it may have been the right temperature)
This Holiday Inn was better than others I have stayed in. The rooftop pool with the view of the Opera House, downtown skyline, and Harbor Bridge is unbeatable. The front desk was helpful and friendly. I considered eating at the bar one night when I was a little too tired to go out. Reconsidered when she told me the burgers were pre-cooked patties. Also, no exercise room but then again this does not seem to be a popular concept in Australian hotels as it is in America. Room was clean and comfortable and the Rocks is a neat location- close to lots of attractions.
Located right near the Sydney Bridge, wanted to walk the bridge. Only took 5 minutes to walk to the entrance of the bridge. Great views from the pool area too
Were able to walk downtown, close to Opera house and bridge, several good eating establishments. Room in bad location even though we made reservations back in March. Had to walk to far to get to elevator. Bathroom wall dirty. Great hotel for closeness but would not recommend unless clients get a lot better room location than the alley. Garbage trucks two mornings, pressure washing of alley one morning, 4:30am, noise from setting up arts and crafts show on Saturday. No information on hotel in room, did not know about dining, etc.
Staff assisted with all airport transfers, registrations for points of interest and dinner cruises. Could not have been more helpful! Food was excellent, room service great. Would highly recommend to friends and relatives. The location was prefect for walking to all points of interest, train station, and ferry.
