Holiday Inn Darling Harbour

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. I got a room with the Continental breakfast option and it was well worth it. The room I had was a little dated, but overall pretty good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sydney.

We enjoyed this hotel. Has a nice bar and is close to harbour and attractions.

This is Holiday Inn at it's best. The room was clean. Due to our points we got upgraded with no hassle. The breakfast was outstanding. The only issue was the location. We wanted to be by the opera house harbor but we were by the Darling harbor. Our mistake not the hotels.

The breakfast buffet was wonderful which helped to mitigate the sting of the high price for a very average double room. The location is great.

Generally acceptable. Close to China town and Market city. Recommended for short stay.

One of the better hotel deals in Sydney - you don't pay for many frills here (like no pool and restaurant is pretty lackluster), but the rooms are clean (queen superior room was great). Don't get the twin rooms with two beds as they tend to be older rooms with older bathrooms. Location is great for Darling Harbour, about a 35 minute walk to Sydney Harbour.

If you arrive too early to check in. Hotel will store your bags for you until check in time. Attended two concerts during the stay that were right across the street at the entertainment center. Convenient and quite hotel. We enjoyed our stay. If you forget your adapters for electronics, the front desk has some and did not charge for using. Day tour buses will pick you up for most trips just outside of the hotel front door. When it's time to leave, Taxi's can be found right out front of the hotel for a quick trip back to the airport, no waiting.

Nice stay. My only complaint is that I had to pay for the internet connection separately. In US, internet connections are complimentary.

The hotel is in a great location - within easy walking distance to Darling Harbour and with easy transportatioin to many Sydney attractions. The rooms were clean, and the service was very good. I would recommend this hotel for anyone traveling in the area.

Very good location in Darling Harbour, with Chinatown shops and restaurants right around the corner, and 10-15 minutes of walking to the Harbour, Aquarium, Wildlife, IMAX, Chinese Garden etc. Room was clean and well-serviced. I put the DND sign outside and got a call asking when I'd like the room to be cleaned. Said 3pm, and they were there at 3pm to clean the room, just as I was heading out. Quiet room to: the monorail was just below the window, but couldn't hear anything from the 8th floor. You *could* hear through the door, but all neighbors were silent. I left a laptop in the room (on the desk, not in the safe) and it remained there untouched over several cleanings. In-room internet is ridiculously expensive: $27.50 per day, with a 200MB limit. The hotel is made of concrete/brick, so not a chance of catching stray WiFi signals. The laundry service is ridiculously expensive: $7 for a t-shirt, but the laundry facility has 2 washers and 2 driers (operated by 3x $1 coins, plus $1 for a packet of detergent). Spa is small, and I'm not sure if there's a pool at all, but if there is, it's small enough to be missed. Exercise room is very small too. But if you're in Sydney to enjoy Sydney, not to stay in a hotel, these things really don't matter. Trek Sydney on foot and you'll get your exercise, and swim in the Ocean at Manly or Bondi. A note about the in-room snacks: they're VERY expensive, about twice the USA price. Buy some from convenience stores, or better yet, from Woolworths. Concierge service wasn't terribly sharp: my apartment mate had a lost luggage on their name, and when the luggage company delivered it to Holiday Inn, with my room number and name, the concierge didn't make the connection, and sent the luggage back (!). On the other hand, they took good care of calling cabs and vans for our departure at the right time.

The location was the key: close in to what we wanted to do & ready access to public transport. Unfortunately, this was the typical Holiday Inn: poorly maintained with worn out fixtures & amenities, charge for every conceivable thing...including services neither used nor wanted...& very aggressively priced. We are returning to Sydney in 2 weeks, but not to this hotel.

The reception and Concierge staff was helpful and friendly and the location was good but the restaurant experience was terrible, the food choices are poor and if you ask for any simple things like an egg omelet which is not in the buffet and you will be charged an arm and a leg. The food and drink choices were very limited and you have to make your own Juice if you need one, so have your apron ready with you as well. Internet was also very expensive, bath room wasn't that new. Overall what you pay what you get and if you add all the extra expenses you will incur you will be paying like a 5 star hotel price but not the service.

1st time outside of USA. hotel is located in chinatown. The hotel was great, very clean and friendly. Prepare to do lots and lots of walking. All the restaurants near this hotel are chinese/japanese (there is a mcdonalds right next to this hotel, again, very expensive and just because it's mcdonalds doesnt mean the menu is the same as your country!)

Pleasant, terrific housekeeping service, everything clean. Be aware of the internet charges. Ask. They are stiff. Plenty cheaper cafes near the hotel. Worth the money, no problem going back.

The hotel was in a great location. There was alot of dining and shopping a short distance away.

The location was great. There were so many sites to see just around the hotel area. We were within walking distance of Darling Harbor, many restaurants, the monorail, ferries, shopping - everything was just so convenient. The staff and concierge service was above reproach. They were professional, friendly, and helpful in every way. The hotel was easy to get to by shuttle from the airport, and a shuttle was available at the hotel to take us back to the airport. If we get a chance to return to Sydney, this would be an ideal place to stay. Very convenient.

This hotel is on the edge of China Town. Every night was a new experience. Sidney can be very pricy. Food in this area was affordable. Shopping in Patty's market is your best value for getting Australian presents cheap. It is right across the street. There is also a McDonalds. If you hold your computer in the right direction or go use it in the vestibule you can get on ther free McD wifi and save yourself the 55cents a minute charged by the Holiday Inn It is an easy walk to Darling Harbor. The Maritime museum is a well worth visit and is also free .You need to book on the internet or the rooms will cost losts more.

The Holiday Inn Darling Harbour was an excellent hotel within a very great location. It is right in the Darling Harbour location with great resturants and shops all within walking distances.

I was satisfied by staying in The Darling Harbor Holiday Inn maybe because I got what I needed and what I had expected. Inside of the hotel, I could not find any differences with any Holiday Inn hotel in US. Although it located in fact in Sydney?s Downtown. I got high speed Internet access that however could be less expensive (27 AUD per day if unlimited or 0.5 AUD per min). Finally, very good location of the hotel was the most important its advantage for me.
