Close to Darling Harbour, Pitt St Mall, train stations, restaurants and quirky bars. It is basic, simple and quiet, The decor is a little tired but the place is clean. I will be back again as it is more affordable than most places nearby.

I only had a problem with the fact that I had a 12pm check out but was called next day at 10 saying I had to check out then. I confirmed couple days before and was assured it was 12 so was disappointed

The first room I was allocated was absolutely tiny (Harry Potter cupboard tiny!), dirty with stray hairs all over the bathroom and stains all over the carpet. I complained as I couldnt stand being in the room and was given the option to pay for an upgrade. I took it as I was in Sydney for work and wasnt sure how my work would feel about me staying elsewhere after paying for the room. Second room was much bigger but was still dirty and needed serious maintenance. Walls were peeling, blood on the carpet, head boards were scratched and nutrigrain and other bits and pieces under the bed. Felt very germy and made me sick being in the room. Also no iron or ironing board in the room and you have to ask and pay for internet at reception. On a slighty positive note, the linen and towels were clean and the TVs are a good size.

Great place to stay very central within walking distance to public transport and shops Very friendly staff always was greeted with a smile a hello or good morning Clean and no trouble to get clean towels everyday.

After booking with Breakfree on Clarence I read a few comments which were saying that there were a lot of rooms which had mould in them. On check in I asked the young lady about this as our son suffers from Asthma. She checked the room before we went up and gave it the OK. We found ourselves in a very nice room, not overly huge but adequate. The room was fresh and clean, the air conditioner was already on and very effectively working as it was very hot outside. The bathroom was fresh and clean, unfortunately there was only one small soap (for three people) but on request we were given more. The floor tiles became quite slippery when wet so you had to be very careful not to slip. Considering we were right in the city the traffic noise was minimal. Unfortunately some people arrived late and slammed their room door but that is the clientele not the hotel at fault for being inconsiderate. The hotel is situated a short walk between Wynyard and Town Hall stations so quite close to anywhere you would like to visit. Would I stay there again? Yes I probably would if I needed to stay in the city. But when checking on the internet for where the hotel is situated, don't look for Oporto next door as a reference, as it is no longer there. :-)

The room was clean and comfortable. And the hospitality of your staff was great. We arrived in Cairns at 6am, but they offered very early checkin, and I was able to take a shower before a biz meeting which made me very refreshing.

Excellent location: close to everything. Room service ranged from poor to excellent depending on staff and their attention to detail. Old rooms and furniture. Horrible smell in the building but it is better if you keep air conditioner switched on. Staff very helpful and friendly. Not noisy.

Very handy location - awful room. It was not clean and smelled from the very wet and mouldy carpet which staff covered with bathroom towels! Housekeeping walked in twice unannounced at 5.30pm in spite of the do not clean notice on the door. NOT recommended. There are better places to stay for the price and service.

Overall fairly good apart from coffee etc. not being replaced and used cups left in room. Room a bit on the narrow side. Location convenient to train stations and a very short walk to Darling Harbour.

Things could do with a real good clean to deal with built up dirt in carpet and marks on walls. It’s enough to make it feel a bit uncomfortable, but once you get beyond that it is fine. The single room is expectedly small. The service is fine. The location is pretty convenient.
