I recently stayed 2 nights at the APX Apartments. Room I had a studio apartment, which was good size with the bed, couch & desk in the room. The bathroom was clean, though small & would only fit 1 person in there. The kitchenette was good with 2 gas burners, oven, microwave & medium size fridge. More then acceptable. The bed was 2 singles pushed together to make a queen, which is never a great experience. Pillows were average. Gym & Pool The gym was large, with treadmill, exercise bikes etc the cable machine looked like health hazard & was basically unusable. Note: they had dumbbells up-to 25kg which is great for a hotel gym. I didn't use the pool but had a look. It was 3 quarters covered by roof of the floor above and then extended out into the open. It looked nice & I could imagine it would be a nice area in summer. The pool felt heated so you could use it all year round. Location The location is at the south end of the city not far (5 minute) walk to both central or museum Station. It would be a 30 minute walk to the harbour. There are lots of restaurant options near by & around 10 walk to the Pitt St mall. APX fitted within my work hotel budget allocation and though it won't be my first choice I would stay again and particularly for longer stays.
My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights during vivid. Rooms were quite expensive and we were nervous as some photos of the rooms looked much better than others. We were glad the service had onsite parking, as the world square parking was extremely expensive and my 4WD wouldn't fit in the close by City of Sydney carpark. Parking was fairly expensive at $50 per night, but was worth it for the convenience. When we arrived we were very happy with our room and the facilities available (washer and dryer in room, full size fridge, dishwasher and stove, 2 x TVs). Room was very spacious and well presented. The king size bed was very comfortable and we both had a great nights sleep both nights. The location was good, with lots of shopping available in World Square and easy walking distance to Darling Harbour. There were a few downfalls - We had to get one of our swipecards reprogrammed twice and it still didn't work properly, leaving us unable to get to our level in the lift. The wifi was very slow and air conditioning was unacceptably loud. All in all it was a great 'base' for the weekend and we felt very at home. For a one night stay I will probably use a hotel rather than serviced apartments, but for 2+ nights I would definitely stay here again
The rooms were clean, large and had everything you need for a comfortable stay. The staff were so friendly constantly checking we had everything we needed and we were comfortable. Even though being a public holiday there was no house keeping they still made sure we had soft clean towels. Staff member Perph was so friendly and up for a chat and really was a highlight of our stay!
The location of this hotel is ideal, or at least it was for me. It's a 5 minute walk from the train station, 10 minutes from the zoo, and 15-20 minutes from the Opera House. It was also nice having a full size fridge, as well as a microwave, oven, washer and dryer, and even utensils and dish soap as well as laundry detergent. The only issue I had with this hotel was a pretty big one, though. We flew into Sydney from Bangkok and arrived at the hotel before 1000. This has happened more than a few times and is usually no big deal, but my only options with this hotel were to wait until 1400 and walk around on a not so nice winter day, or pay $100 extra to check in a little early. I opted to pay, but feel that amount is ridiculous and was basically the charge for an entire extra day. If I would have known this issue beforehand, I would not have chose this hotel.
The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming and the hotel is in a good location, close to everything. The room itself (room 502) is a good size with a nice little balcony. However this was marred by the fact the bathroom has no ventilation and the extractor fan didn't work. This caused mould to grow all around the top edge of the bathroom which smelt dank and funky. I tried cleaning it off but I wasn't very successful and the smell permeated into the whole room making it pretty unpleasant. As the hotel is close to several pubs it also does get noisy at night so if you don't like noise, ask for a higher floor. It didn't really bother me that much, even the guy singing Take That at 3am was amusing, but it may bother others who like a peaceful stay. Overall I'm not sure if I would stay again, it wasn't that cheap, and mould is pretty unhealthy and unpleasant to be breathing in. If I could have relayed any of this when checking out I might feel better about the place but you just drop your keys in the box on the way out so there is no interaction with staff. Perhaps a survey would be good in the rooms so complaints can be made and action taken when guests are not completely happy.
I had a studio with a well appointed kitchen and bathroom. I found the location convenient and the staff helpful. I wasn't aware of any noise or other drawbacks and had a very pleasant stay. Keep your room access card away from any other cards or your phone as the magnetic strip seems to be very sensitive. Would recommend this hotel!
Position is pretty good and room is fine for price but the real disappointment is the service. After finding no instructions in the room to guide on how to access promised 'blockbuster movies' I called reception. It rang out twice (he was taking a private call when I tried to check in) then he finally answered but was 'too busy to answer my question. Said he'd call me back in 5 minutes'- 2 hours later, of course, no return call so no movie for me during my stay. Can't be bothered looking after guests.
One reason i keep coming to this hotel is the staff.during the week you will find two beautiful Nepalese girls,Smita and Sabbu.with their welcoming smile and friendly attitude, you know your going to enjoy your stay.they will go out of their way to make sure stay is wat you expected and more. They are not only beautiful outside but inside as well.when you check in say hi from rob. On the weekend you will find a coulple of good looking guys named Dilpresty and Parth.these guys love to have a joke and a laugh but are serious about their job.what ever you want they will ensure that you get it.great job boys. Within minutes of checking into your room, the reception will ring you to make sure you are happy with your room.what other hotel does that. At the end of the day this hotel is customer focused and that's why i will keep coming back.this is my hotel.
I haven't been on Tripadvisor for some time to write reviews, but after my stay at APX World Square, I felt it was warranted enough for me to spend some time to write a review about my stay. We had arrived at APX early in the morning as we come in on a early flight, we were greeted by Sabba who was very friendly. We requested if we were able to have an early check in. Sabba checked with the housekeeping manager (sorry forgotten her name), both were absolutely wonderful in trying to accommodate us. They were able to get the room ready for us in an hour or so. We were able to leave our bags at reception while waiting for our room. Our room was on the 10th floor, the room was very spacious and clean. Our balcony faced office buildings so we kept our blinds drawn down. The kitchen, which we didn't use, would have been very good to make your own meals and if you just wanted to eat in one night. The bed, looked like a king bed but was two large single beds together, was little bit firm for my liking but I still slept well. We had no noise issues during our stay. Bathroom was clean and again basic, and it was great to have an in-unit washing machine and dryer if you needed to do your laundry. The location was convenient to where we wanted to be, a short walk from Darling Harbour and excellent food options to choose from - malaysian Mamak, Taiwanese Din Tai Fung, 85c Bakery, Thai food, lots of endless options. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as the staff were so friendly and were very accommodating on all our needs. This hotel is basic, it is clean, it is a place to sleep and relax and was very well priced. If you are after luxury and spectacular views, this is not for you. We cannot thank the staff enough for their services, everyone we met were fantastic. For this reason I would stay here again if I revisited Sydney, and would recommend my friends this hotel. My partner and I have stayed in many hotels, basic and high end, and this is a great self serviced hotel. Thank you APX
It was a special 1 year anniversary for my partner and I. They staff went above and beyond to make sure it was a great weekend away ! I couldn't thank the staff enough. You can store your bags on site which is handy after you have checked out. Used the gym so if you are on business it's a great place to go because you can do your own cooking and laundry in your own room. I mean it's not a 5 star hotel but for the price it is perfect for exploring Sydney. And it's beside Thi town (so great cheap food) Very high standard everything clean and tidy !
