Rydges Campbelltown

4.5 out of 5.0

I stayed at the Hotel for one night on business. I regularly stay at the Rydges in Sydney and have more recently stayed at the Rydges near the airport. A good clean room of reasonable size (although appeared a little smaller than the other two locations mentioned). I got an Executive King room, so the other levels of room may be different. Overall a good hotel in a handy location (and right next to the Catholic Club). I would have three minor issues: (1) At breakfast I asked to have poached eggs made for me. I was pointed to the buffet and told poached eggs are provided (in the Sydney location where I stay more often the staff are always happy to have some made). Anyway I tried one and as expected it was hard. I prop ably could have asked again, but did not. (2) There is ample undercover parking, but finding the entrance to the second level is not easy. Particularly at night when there are no signs, I had to circle the carpark park a couple of times before realising I could just make a hard right on exit to the first level. (3) The shower seemed particularly narrow. And the water mixer is in a slightly strange position, meaning I kept knocking it (with the corresponding cold water following) on several occasions.

If you are not going to tip the staff well expect below average service. The sheets do not fit the beds they are to short and the mattresses have tear marks and wear marks on them. There are smudge marks and hand prints on the walls and fridge doors. The lamps sometimes don't work and the bulbs don't get replaced. It would be the ideal place to stay if you like to gamble til early hours of the morning. The poker machine are available til 4am in the morning. The food is stardard the menu never changes same menu everytime have stayed. When I called reception and complained about the heater being to high and the window not being able to open. She turn around and said that I would not be able to change rooms and that they were booked out. I did not even get a chance to ask if I could change rooms. Would of said no anyway.

very nice hotel, really lovely staff and very accommodating. Price was extremely reasonable even in public holidays, very clean and well kept hotel, free convenient parking, large room, good amenities. It was a very pleasant stay

Had a very pleasant stay here & a lovely meal at the restaurant. The wine list was extensive & all were Australian from memory. You could choose to dine in the restaurant or something more casual in bar & grill. All the staff were very friendly & helpful, room was very comfortable! Thoroughly enjoyed the stay!

Over all the hotel was good close to shopping centres and pubs. Would say again for sure. But when l got in to bed the pillow had bed bugs 🐜 so next time if l say there l will take some glen 20 with me to spray the room. But l did forget to tell the staff.

Stayed overnight on a recent trip to Sydney, staff were friendly & helpful, the room was modern, clean & comfortable. My husband and I had a good night sleep. We had a very nice dinner at the hotel restaurant. I would definitely stay again & have already recommended the hotel to friends & colleagues.

Pro's: Really impressed with all aspects of the accomdation at Rydes Cambelltown particularly the spacious rooms and free wifi. Con's: No 24 hr room service, very vague service in the restaurant/ bar + no foxtel/ netflix or in-house movies.

I will NEVER stay at a Rydges again. This hotel had bed bugs, I saw several of them and i got bitten everywhere including my face. I told the hotel staff when I woke up in the middle of the night and instead of coming up to assist me moving rooms, she told me to come down and get a new card and when she saw me she freaked out and said 'oh my gosh, its so bad'. When I told her that I left my toiletries bag in the bathroom in the haste of moving room, she asked me to get it myself. (I'm pretty sure she didn't want to walk in a bug infested room either). I ended up having a severe allergic reaction to the bites which have caused permanent scarring. The hotel did compensate for the room and that was it. I am just warning travellers to check the cleanliness of the hotel. I know bed bugs are a disaster in a lot of hotels but be warned. The hotel rooms itself are not very clean.

(a) Room 502 was very dusty upon on arrival, have to dust the room myself before settling in. (b) One of the pillows smells !! (c) Room temperature quite humid and uncomfortable despite requesting reception to decrease temperature twice. (d) Vanity sink drain pipe dirty and smelly. Considering alternative accommodation arrangements in future visits.

Stayed for a week to attend a wedding...great location easy to access the area...Very friendly and staff were lovely...Had a room with out a balcony will remember to request a balcony next time....Still a nice room separate bedroom quite a good kitchen bathroom with washer dryer...serviced daily or not if you don't want too....
