The room was surface clean but there were places, such as the base of the floor lamp that appeared not to have been dusted for at least a month, and cobwebs on the heating unit. Breakfast was basic but covered our needs. Not everyone's house is spotless. I would stay here again.
This is a no-frills motel. Pros: it has a fridge, microwave, lots of TV channels, good wifi, large room, comfortable bed, continental breakfast, only $69 a night (that's good for Canada). Cons: stained carpet and chairs, dated decor. If you don't need frills or perfection, this hotel is fine for a night. There were very few hotel customers on the night we stayed there, but as usual they placed us right next to another customer's room, and they were a bit noisy. I really wish they could manage to put even one room between customers.
The bathroom was so tiny you could barely close the door...beds were hard and uncomfortable. Stay somewhere else!! Spend the extra 50 to stay in a much nicer hotel! Not worth the 100 spent the breakfast is not much more then a few muffins.
This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The bed looked like it had not been changed, sheets were wrinkled. The towels were grungy, the floor so dirty,I dared not step on it with my bare feet and what took it over the top was that when I got into the shower, there were black hair in it. I would not have stayed except that friends I was with thought their room was not that bad.I know that I will NEVER stay at a Thriftlodge again.I would gladly pay more and have a clean room. When I told them at checkout, they mostly ignored it, no offer to reduce my costs, just a barely audible 'I'm sorry."
The key cards for our room didn't work so I took them to the front desk and the kid working reprogrammed them. Walked all the way back and they still didn't work. He said I must have put them too close to my cell phone and erased them. Twice. He acted irritated that we wanted working keys. He took them back to the office then brought them back and left. I took them and immediately tried them and they still didn't work and he was gone. Took them all the way back again and he said "I TOLD you not to put them near electronics!". Pardon me? He reprogrammed them again and brought them to the room himself and, shockingly, they didn't work. He fiddled with the door mechanism for a while and then informed us that the door must have been shaken and the battery was disconnected. Interesting, as it blinked red when we tried the keys and his master key worked. He then lectured us to be careful with the door and keep the keys away from electronics. Everything else in the room was broken, but obviously we were responsible for the malfunctioning locking mechanism. Not the experience we were looking for at midnight after driving all day. There are at least 10 other motels nearby, don't choose this one.
It was ok but it needs up keep and they need to check their guests I had to had a tick removed from my body the next day.
Quiet comfortable room reasonably priced. Hotel staff very pleasant. Had problems hooking up to their wi-fi network and hotel owner went way and beyond being helpful and troubleshooting the problem with me.
Awesome stay! We picked this Hotel for our return trip as well. We liked the price, the rooms were clean and quiet. We will stay here again as we have family to visit in Alberta. Thanks!
Travelling to BC for vacation when we got a flat tire at on Hwy 1 around 10 PM. After changing tire we returned to Swift a Current looking for motel allowing pets and urgent accommodation as about 1AM. Thriftlodge fit our needs and number to call on door provided quick assistance. Manager was accommodating, and room was fine and clean but needs some definite upgrading. Heating system was very good but room was very dry and windows do not open. That was major downfall.
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom extremely small. Small dining area, breakfast good. Would stay there again.
