We have stayed in this hotel many times, but had avoided it in recent years as the rooms were very tired indeed, with small uncomfortable beds. Well, all that is changing as they are undergoing a programme of room renovation and the new rooms are lovely. They are very contemporary, light and airy, good walk-in showers and larger and more comfortable beds. Only thing missing in the room was a safe, which used to exist in the Executive rooms, and is pretty essential if you are staying a few days. The public areas are all attractive and the staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast selection is good, but the preparation of the hot food is variable and frequently cold...however, all in all this hotel will now go back on our list as a place to stay when we are in the area!
The hotel is going through an upgrade which may give noise during the day but did not affect me as I left before work was due to start at 9:30am on a Saturday. The upgrade work will be worth it if my room is an example of what they will all be like when it's finished. I counted 9 accessible plug sockets -each with its own separate USB socket. Bed was very comfortable. TV was huge. Room clean and with plenty of space. Bathroom was modern with nice thick towels and "no mist" mirror. Well done to their team.
Arrived at the Holiday Inn after a disappointing experience at another hotel. Reception was extremely helpful, especial thanks to Jallal for his patience and positive demeanour. New room, whilst small it was well appointed and clean.
As a Spire elite member, I was able to stay on the renovated 3d floor. Great room, a little small, but heated bathroom floor and mirror, good bed (a little firm), quiet, and a welcome note written on the mirror of the wardrobe. Fantastic !
I stayed at the hotel on Sunday 10th September From check in it was very good customer service. Vitalie checked us in and out and was very helpful. Our room had been refurbished and was very nice, and spotlessly clean We ate in the lounge and special thanks to Snejeina who was fantastic and also Anson The food was a very high standard Good selection of beers etc Overall a fantastic stay and would have no second thoughts about staying there again
Stayed for Thorpe Park and the hotel was clean, tidy and offered a hearty breakfast for a day of Theme Parking. Only downsize was the amount of staff off ill which closed the main kitchen. Not to bother, we could have bar food which was fine.
The price wasn't bad but the hotel is in the middle of nowhere so you are kind of stuck there as there are no shops or pubs in walking distance. The rooms are nice enough but the pool and jacuzzi desperately need investment. It was raining and you have a few metres of going outside to get to pool club. No information about hotel or area in the room and the TV is clunky to use. Lack of information is the reason we almost missed breakfast. I would stay again with my better knowledge. I just wish the pool area was nicer.
I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years on business and wrote a Tripadvisor revue about it in September 2016. I am pleased to announce that the long awaited and promised refurbishment of the rooms has finally begun. I was lucky to have been given one of the refurbished rooms and could not really fault it. The Bathroom was technically very good with a complete new suite. The bath was not large but the new taps and a choice of two shower heads made it an enjoyable experience. The new glass over the bath shower screen seemed to work more effectively than a curtain. The bathroom floor seemed to have underfloor heating and the very large wall mirror had a panel in the center of it that stopped it misting up. There was also a small circular shaving/make up mirror with an extending arm. I am so used to walking in to a hotel bathroom and the towels are on a rack in front of you that it took me a couple of minutes to find them stashed under the sink unit on a shelf. The bed was comfy and clean and the new decor was modern with neutral calming tones. Plenty of electric sockets incorporating USB charging connections and the wall mounted Samsung TV was a decent size and specification. In any design there are pluses and minuses and this was evident with the new dressing table/desk. It was quite long in relation to the size of the room and extended partially in front of the window which made it slightly awkward to open the window. The plus is if you are a business user you have a nice separate area to sit in front of the window with your laptop and paperwork. The only problem I encountered on this trip was I prefer to have the widow open rather than using the air con (which worked ok) but the window lock would not open. The reception staff did offer to move me and offered an upgrade but I declined it because it was quite late in the evening to be moving room. On this stay I found all the staff very pleasant, helpful and professional. The bar and the food was adequate which has not always been the case with every time I stayed at this hotel. But then again nobody is consistently perfect. As I said in my previous revue of this hotel It is in a quiet location with a decent sized free car park and grounds with a pool and leisure facilities. This hotel is possibly finally on the upgrade I hope the refurbishment will extend to all the areas that need it.
Well what can I say a lovely hotel set in beautiful surroundings with the bonus of a spa and gym which is free.Came here for a 4 day break with my husband, daughter and her partner. There had been a wedding so the rooms weren't ready ( taking in mind we were early ) they gave us all complimementry drinks and upgraded us to the Executive Suite. The rooms are stunning and very modern with everything you need .They are renovating other rooms so there is building noise but when else can they do it. The breakfast caters for everyone and again highly recommend the full English, Over all I can't rate this hotel highly enough and can't wait to come back again soon. Thanks to all the staff who are very attentive and cater for every need. Will defiantly recommend this to anyone AAAAAA++++++++++++ On behalf of my family and I THANK YOU for a lovely stay 😄😄😄😄😄😄
We booked this hotel through chessington holidays. It was at a good price, only 10 miles from the park (took only 20-25 min) with the added bonus of being extremely close to family. I had emailed the hotel in advance with some questions and received a prompt and lovely response with full answers to my questions. The hotel is easy to find and has more than ample free parking. On arrival the hotel looks lovely. It's nice and clean and looks good. The welcome from the lady on reception was the warmest I have ever received in a hotel (I average one stay a month so have a fair few). She was lovely. Far from ignoring the kids she asked them how their day at Chessington had been, which ride had been their favourite etc and as it was my son's birthday wished him a happy birthday. Every request I made to help in travelling with a child with ASD they met straight away and were only too happy to help. Also booked us a table for dinner. The hotel were aware there was a difficult family situation and went out of their way to be kind and understanding and work around me and my needs. The swimming pool was good. There's a small space for those non swimmers with little legs and a good sized deep pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room for over 16s. All seemed clean and nice as did changing rooms. Towels provided. The man on the leisure reception was again really helpful and friendly. Our room was on the 1st floor, room 255 and was brilliant. Yes it was a bit dated and worn however that had no impact on us at all (and the hotel are doing a major refurbishment of all rooms anyway). It was perfectly cleaned, bathroom had all the toiletries you'd need and we were provided with plenty of towels for the three of us. Plenty of nice hot water at a good water pressure. Even a set of scales in the bathroom. The bedroom had an iron, ironing board, trouser press, safe, hairdryer. There's a small mini bar just with water and a twix. Kettle with tea and coffee. Also glasses for in the room which a lot of hotels miss. And a good sized wardrobe. Plug sockets are on the desk on the far side of the room. 1 adult with two children and they very kindly put two make up beds in the room so that both children had their own bed. This was grately appreciated. Dinner was delicious. And at a great price with friendly and prompt service. Breakfast had a wide choice. Staff happy to help when I asked as the apple juice had run out. On check out again a lovely lady. A massive thank you to all at the hotel who helped to make our stay so good and to make my son feel so special on his birthday. You all went above and beyond the call of duty and it won't be forgotten
