While the staff was friendly enough, this hotel was far from anything special. Rock hard beds, broken tiles in the shower, toilet with no pressure to flush pee and questionable marks of foos on the walls. Was glad we only had to stay one night. Did the job but would not return.
From the moment you step off the elevator, the place feels old and dirty. It doesn't seem to be dirty, but it feels like it is. The hallways have a smell to them. not exacly musty, but not pleasant. The bathroom was outdated as well. The mattress on the bed was old and even sagging. The pillows on the bed were an absolute joke. There were 4 pillows on the bed. each the size of a throw pillow you would see on a couch or loveseat. there were no other pillows in the room. Admittidly, I did not call the front desk to complain. They may very well have made some changes to accomidate me. I was only staying one night, and I was too tired to bother. The shower was also due for an upgrade, but it did have good pressure. I generally stay at other hotels (at about the same price point) when I stay in Sudbury, and and find the quality of the stay to be much better. This was the first time I have stayed at the Travel Lodge. I won't stay there again. There are just too many better options.
My kids and I stayed for two nights. Great location, restaurant has good food, good hours. Rooms were clean, linen yeah and well stocked. Mattress firm, could use some updating. But overall great hotel for the price..
We visited Sudbury on business with family, and used the Travelodge for our stay. The check in was fast and easy, and our room was ready when we arrived. We had to change rooms due to a mattress problem, but were quickly given another room for the remainder of our stay. Having the Perkins restaurant there was great, as we didn't have to travel anymore after a long day for our dining.
no fault of the hotel, and, a light sleeper, should have known, the noise of street traffic on Paris |Street is overwhelming, remedy-pack ear plugs, or a radio. Great, full menu Perkins restaurant attached to the hotel.
The bed was comfortable - I didn't enjoy going out for a fire alarm drill because someone smoked some herbs in the building. Being evacuated without a jacket was fantastic... .NOT. I also didn't enjoy the last night because there was loud kids and couldn't sleep well.
I went to stay in the hotel before the brain scan. i called ahead of time to speak with the concierge to ask specifically about the hot tub. the concierge explained that there was indeed a hot tub. when we arrived, on the desk next to the concierge was a sign that said 'the hot tub is broken'. so while the concierge didn't lie in the literal sense, i feel pertinent information was no communicated. it was a bummer.
No fitness centre although offered pass at Laurentian U but as it was late and cold we couldn't muster the energy to get bundled up for going out of hotel. location in Sudbury was good and we were offered a family discount for having a Laurentian student in the family, purpose of trip was to take son back to school after Easter break
Stayed 2 nights, hot tub worked well on the first night and was not working the following night. Food was great at Perkins and reasonably priced. Bed was in need of being replaced as it sagged in the middle big time!! Receptionist said mattresses are slowly being replaced. Grounds are good for walking a dog but wouldn't it be nice if people acted like normal human beings and actually picked up after their pet? REALLY? It is not rocket science!! There is dog poop everywhere and that is not the hotel's fault!! Otherwise it was a good stay with good amenities all around!
We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years as our daughters have needed to be in Sudbury for various events. The hotel has a good location and friendly staff. On our most recent visit my wife and I were both up in the night to use the washroom and we're both greeted by silverfish scurrying across the floor. When asked to speak to a manager there was not one in that morning. She would pass the info on to them and have them call us. Never happened and my wife had to call them. My wife did eventually speak to the manager and was given the customary apology and a $25 gift card to return - don't see that happening for a measly $25 off when there are so many other hotels in the city.
