This hotel is like a girl who is almost hot. You may stick around for couple of nights but you don't want a long term relationship. For: - big underground parking lot - good location, friendly service - very good and free WiFi Against: - They charge 4 EUR even for a bottle of water which is normally free in any other hotel. How mean is that? - They failed to fix the elevator for a month or so - The room, the breakfast and the TV set all are ok, buta little bit dissapointing. Almost hot, see what I mean? All in all the total rating is ALMOST 4.
I haven t been in a worst place, and I have travel a lot in lot of countries and not im Palace Hotel. I am very sad for the employee at the reception of this hotel, who are nice but they cannot do miracle. First of all, it is not well indicated at the airport and 10 min (16 Euros) by Taxi. I don t know if there is a shuttle. Hotel is little bit old style and can be refreshed, but it is not an issue and origin of my disapointment. The problem was when I enter in the room, it was smelling like hell the cigarets. But at such level that my eyes was crying and I got problem to breath. I ask to reception another room, not possible fully book ( but I have seen later other customer arriving for check in). In fact it seems all room where like that , as other french guest told me having same issue and explaining what will be next step. As announced by the guy in the lift, someone arrives in the room with the same product as for toillets.... Great it was covering the smell of cigarets but such quantity was needed that the situation was even worst Only solution open the window at 23h and wait one hour, with 1 degree outside..... I really cannot understand why cleaning woman doesn t open the window, amazing specially that hotel is not so cheap. And it is not first tine as they apply immediately the deodorant for toillets Next time I will take another one, and even for a smoker I guess it won t be a good experience
Was staying here on business as I was at an expo in Messe. Shall we start with the location? Having Airport & Messe implies it is close, which it is, to an extent. You can't walk from the airport or Messe like many of the other hotels which are right next to both. It is a 10 minute taxi ride away with at least 15/20 euros each way. (Factor this into your time and budget) The hotel itself is in a dodgy looking industrial complex. I never left the hotel, partly because there is nothing near it and partly by the time I got back, I just wanted to go bed. Nice segue into the rooms. Rooms are basically out of date and worn. Thin, discoloured carpets, scratches on the corner of the wood work, etc. Plus Points Shower was powerful and there were a good number of hangers in the cupboard. Negative points the drains didn't drain that fast and out of 4 trouser hangers one 1 has enough grip to hold trousers. Also If your of average height the bottom of your trousers will drag on the bottom of the wardrobe. Normally OK but in both rooms I had were caked in dust. Other bad points of the rooms are the pillows aren't worth having, they were so soft and thin your head hits the mattress. The mattress was really hard as well. I hardly slept the entire week. Got a better sleep on the plane home. Rooms were also really warm with no cooling other than opening the large window, which lets the motorway noise in. The last disclaimer is they put you in a smoking room automatically. If you have a sense of smell and want a room that smells less horrible you have to state this when you book. After one night I asked and they had an available none smoking room which they swapped me to. <--- Look a good point. Food! Breakfast was an acceptable mix of food, I wasn't paying so can't comment on prices. Evening food had an OK. Ate there once and ate at different hotels near Messe every other night. Main issue was they had an issue charging it to our rooms. Lucky the person I was with is fluent German, but after 5 minutes of them moaning and complaining they finally let us charge it to our room. (Considering every other hotel are more than happy to charge to room instead of taking money, we found this odd) The last thing was out of 2 lifts one was broken all week. Can't really hold that against them its probably the age of the building and if they can't afford to keep rooms clean, then lift maintenance is probably low on their list. I used the stairs as it was quicker than the lifts anyway.
Visited the Hotel on business given walking distance to meeting location in office park. Long wait at checkin due to sign on desk and no one else able to help. Rooms are small and outdated. Restaurant had good breakfast buffet with nice dinner as well.
Reasonable price for an excellent airport hotel with full buffet breakfast. They were also very helpful in cancelling another hotel reservation that I could not use. I would stay here againp given the acccomodations, friendliness and quality of food.
I stayed here one night for business and thought it was decent for the price. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy, though not very modern or stylish. Breakfast (12 euro) had the usual selection of bread, meats, cheese, muesli and eggs, which was okay but nothing to get excited about. The location of the hotel is not very pleasant and I wouldn't stay here for a holiday. The staff was very nice though, which was one of the best parts of this place.
I think the first impression of the hotel isn't bad, it's an old but decent building amidst what appears to be a developing corporate area. I liked the location but am surprised at ignorance of hotel basics in today's day and age. The beds and pillows are uncomfortable and it's difficult to get a good night sleep. The bathroom is in ok condition but isn't worth much if you can't sleep well. Restaurant food is average at best. People are nice and friendly but are stuck in a property that has nothing going for it really. Overall, you would do better avoiding it if you can.
We were two guys arriving at 23.00, having booked two months before, asking for a twin bedded room. On arrival, we were shown to a double bedded room, set up for just one person. Fully booked, sorry, cannot offer another, said the embarrassed reception man ; after he had told us that "twin" in German meant a double bed!! Seriously .... Eventually we got another duvet, another pillow and towel, and settled down at the ends of the bed... ready for the morning negotiation with "the manager" which we were promised. That "negotiation" should be on a Customer Service video, on how to mess up an opportunity to leave two customers impressed. First, don't offer a derisory €15 off the €98 price; it was booked two months ago! Second, don't attempt to buy empathy with 2 half bottles of hotel brand sparkling wine, which we couldn't take home in hand baggage anyway. Third, don't make out that the breakfast for two at €12 each was now "free", so we were actually getting €15+€24=€39 (still with me??) off the bill. (Btw, we had just eaten anyway!). Just profusely apologise, make a credible offer of compensation, and have two relatively happy customers! Don't negotiate for 10 minutes, eventually settle at €60, and expect me to go quietly! Finally, this was the blurb on my booking ... "A restful night in the peaceful surroundings of the Golden Leaf Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe, a cosy atmosphere and a sumptuous breakfast buffet which leaves nothing to be desired – a fitting start to your day in Stuttgart.". In reality, breakfast was very poor quality and choice, and our day got off to a very poor start indeed...... Trip Advisor (and as you can see, I'm very well travelled and a high TA contributor) is where you can make or break your hotel's standing!! On this occasion, you failed.... but I will tell the story to many more people no doubt! Book that Customer Service training now!
This hotel definitely needs a complete overhaul. Rancid carpets, smelly rooms, shabby furniture and broken lights all over the place. In general it's just not very clean. Hair in the bathroom (not my own), some undefinable filth on the hairdryer, not a pleasant experience at all. I feel really bad for the employees, since everybody was super friendly but that doesn't make up for the premises. Sorry.
Would like to pass my special thanks to all the staff, but specifically to Mike Milewski, a Receptionist, for being extremely patient and helpful with my multiple questions/ inquiries/ issues. Would definitely recommend it to any and everybody!
