While I can see how some people might think my take on this being unfair I am rating this hotel based on the expectations and promises the phrase ‚world leading hotels‘ implies. We decided to stay a few days in Stuttgart on out way to Italy. We arrived December 23rd and left 27th. So you can see what problems I could hit staying somewhere during the Christmas holidays. Though picking a 5 star hotel I was not thinking I would have to ask for basic services in advance. The hotel offered gourmet style dinner menus throughout the holidays which is great. Though there was no mention anywhere beforehand that there virtually was no other food source available. Having a 17 month old toddler with us 6 course gourmet menus are a no go. The bar food was very slow (one evening we waited 45 minutes for then to learn that the waiter forgot our order. We retreated to the room where we fed our baby with a read made meal). The next evening the hotel was out of eggs. Really? 5 Stars? The next evening the bar was closed. Just to remind you it all happened without any prior warning. I had booked this hotel weeks in advance. I received zero communication regarding limited services. I am sorry as I believe that this hotel usually is great. But it won’t see me/us again as guests. As a service provider you have one shot to impress to people. Althoff missed it, by miles.

For a supposed 5 star hotel, we had a horrible time here. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our 12 day tour of Germany, and it was our worst experience. The hotel is in the middle of a construction area, which made it a little tricky to find. The parking is quite nearby, but there are no signs showing where it is, requiring us to go inside to get directions. The elevator from the parking garage did not take us inside the hotel, but rather to the side street, forcing us to carry all our luggage around the construction to get inside the hotel. Staff spoke English well, but did not seem interested in spending time answering questions about the surrounding area, simply providing us a city map. It was easy to get from the hotel to the Christmas Market and the hotel seemed to be in a safe, secure location. We requested a quiet room and were instead placed two doors down from the elevator, which was quite noisy. Also, the room was not sound proof, as the exterior noise of crowds and traffic kept us up late into the night. Our bed was moderately comfortable but the pillows provided no support and were very flat. Overall, we did not have a comfortable night or good sleep. Upon checkout, no one asked how our stay had been. We requested an invoice but were told it was not available as the room had been prepaid. We took nothing from the mini bar, did not order any room service, and paid cash for the parking fee. However, the next day we were informed by our credit card the hotel charged us an additional 15 Euros . We have emailed them multiple times asking what this charge could possibly be for and requesting they refund the error. We have received zero responses to our emails and will have to now contest the charge with our credit card. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere if visiting Stuttgart.

I stayed in a Junior Suite which was perfect. Room consisted of large bed, lounge suite and a lovely space to relax after a day of sightseeing. The staff were helpful and very pleasant. The restaurant and lounge spaces were delightfull.

True 5-star hotel in a fantastic location. Check-in was efficient and friendly. Bell hop service was extremely helpful. We booked two rooms - an Executive and one Superior room. The Executive room is very small, but cozy and luxurious and has all the amenities of a 5-star hotel. The superior room is much larger. The superior room we were in (room 710) had a beautiful view of the city and park and even had a little balcony. Nespresso coffee machine, mini bar and all necessary toiletries in the bathroom were provided. Turn down service at night. The bar was quiet and comfortable. The service very polite and efficient. Just what we needed after a long day at the Christmas market. I will definitely stay here next time I visit Stuttgart. Highly recommended!

Excellent hotel located next to a raiwayl station and a central shopping street. The hotel staff was always helpful .The breakfast was also very good. We strongly recommend this hotel. We'd like to be back.

This hotel has been updated as when you are a guest you can see why from the deco of corridors and room ceiling lights. The bathrooms are new and so is the furniture .great beds and very good linen. Service is great and food is great too. The bar selection is also very good The staff here make sure you are welcome and handy for any help you need Well done

Returning each night from our busy & highly scheduled days to the Althoff Hotel Am Schlossgarten was truly a warm home coming. The hotel staff was always helpful in providing whatever needs we might have. We were unfamiliar with the city and were driving as well as taking the trains. They were helpful in giving connecting advice as well as driving directions (printed even) when necessary as we found ourselves needing to be in various parts of the city each day. They have on-site valet parking which can be hard to find in this area from our research and well worth the small charge. They took excellent care of our vehicle and had it ready within moments of request each time! It is a 2-minute walk to the main train station as well as a huge pedestrian mall with many shops & tasty bakeries. The hotel itself has several restaurants. We only had an opportunity to try two of their restaurants. Their bar restaurant, which had an AMAZING piano player on the evening we joined them and we would go back just to enjoy his talents alone! He was so much fun...incredibly talented repertoire and so very enjoyable for a relaxing evening. There was a wonderful selection of wine, beer, & cocktails. We opted for a small selection of cheeses, bread & salami to snack on followed by a phenomenal creme brule and enjoyed every bite! Our favorite restaurant in the hotel was the Weinwirtschaft by Weingut Franz Keller which was one of our best meals of our entire travels. All regional cuisine and absolutely wonderful! This is a restaurant not to be missed whether you are staying at the hotel or not in our opinion..we wished we had tried it sooner as we would have gone AGAIN! We additionally utilized room service on a couple of occasions upon late arrivals and it too was superb. The hotel is beautifully decorated and was the most comfortable of all we stayed on our travels. We opted for a Junior Suite and were very happy with the extra space provided as we were there for a week. Should you find yourself in Stuttgart...you can't go wrong selecting this hotel...top notch all the way!

I booked this hotel not for price but for its reviews and tbh they didn't falter. The staff make this hotel, Reception, Valet, Bar ALL were very warm and assisting. Maps drawn by the gentleman on the bar for places to eat and drink and the receptionists where excellent even with a free brolly service. Rooms were ok but very clean. Lobby immaculate. Negative - My only negative point was that the breakfast was 27 euro's each and was VERY expensive for what bit was. Spoilt what was a great weekend a little.

I was in Stuttgart for business in October, and needed a hotel close to the train station. This great hotel is right across the street, so the location was perfect. The hotel itself is very nice, clean and comfortable - the room that I received was much larger than I thought it would be, and I had the advantage of looking out at the park which is right next to the hotel. In some cities the area around the train station is not always so nice, but in this case, the area is very nice and right next to one of the largest shopping streets (pedestrian) in Stuttgart. Breakfast was great and their are several restaurants right at the property. I will definitely return here in the future, especially given the outstanding service throughout my stay.

Very good location. Staff very friendly and helpful. An evening at the Restaurant Zirbelstube is just fantastic. We like the hotel very much as it is a kind of coming home to us. The breakfast is very well and the staff knows very well which room we prefer.
