Mercure Strasbourg Palais des Congres4.0 out of 5.0

Attended a congress next door so the location was excellent. Also appreciated the effective air conditioning as it was +35C outside. THe room was very spacey, and the breakfast buffet was great in the French sense.
We stayed here last weekend for one night. We picked this hotel as it is a good chain and relatively close to the border with Germany so ideal. The Hotel lobby was grand and clean and the receptionists were very nice and spoke some good English, Anäis was very friendly. Our room, as said in the other reviews, was huge but dated. The bathroom was clinical but clean with a massive shower. Slept well and you can open the windows a jar. We walked into town in the evening which is a very pleasant walk and it is a safe, quiet area. Breakfast was overpriced for us so we ate at a service station. Good location close to the motorway and walking distance into the town centre so will stay again if revisiting.
I spent two nights at the Mercure because of its location right next to the congress hall, where I attended a business event. The location, next to Palais de congrès and close to a tram line, and the free parking in front of the hotel, are its major assets. The hotel itself looks quite dated, except for the lobby area which is modern and welcoming. I had a superior room, which was rather large and with a spacious bathroom, but poorly appointed, with arbitrarily chosen furniture and old facilities. Given the sheer size of the room, there's a lot of potential, which is just wasted. On the plus side, the hotel is quite calm, windows can be put ajar, there's an in-room coffee/tee maker, and check-in was fast and efficient. I also liked the fact that they offer a reasonably priced bar breakfast, as an alternative to the overly expensive full breakfast, and that the free Internet connection fulfills the requirements for VPN connections.
Our Ac was not working! They didn't bother in fixing the problem or move us to new room. Manager was extremely rude!. The shower curtain in the bathroom was never changed it had a very bad smell! Do not stay here! Not worth it!
I've chosen this hotel as i generally like Mercure hotels. This one was not spectacular, unfortunately. Pluses: it has good essentials: wonderful bed, spacious (for France) room, clean bathroom. It's not far away from center (some people say it really far - don't believe, not at all) - only 15 min walk, which I absolutely fine. And huge free parking! But it's old and old fashioned, in reality rooms don't look that beautiful as on pictures, bathroom door is not pleasant, breakfast place is not nice and breakfast itself is not that nice and delicious. Generally, OK to stay one nicht, but you would not enjoy good atmosphere and would not have that nice feeling that you may expect to have in good 4 star hotels.
The hotel is not very far from the city center and is easily accessible by public transport. It has plenty of parking and the service is great. The breakfast spread is impressive and the rooms are quite spacious. The health club and pool are on the smaller side, but good enough to get some exercise.
Nice hotel ample parking Little bit run down and could do with a makeover including pool area. I would recommend this as staff were great. Very helpful. I would book again as is close walking to the town center i.e. 25 mins
Stayed here on business (3rd year in a row) and we had a couple of dinners at this hotel. The food and service is excellent and is always a pleasure to dine here. The rooms in this hotel are big but dated. The rooms need a revamp.....
Spent a weekend as a family, the rooms are spacious and the service from everyone in the hotel very friendly. I had reservations about staying with the kids in a big "business" hotel, but it felt very relaxed and cosy. Breakfast was varied and abundant.
This hotel is well situated if you are working at the European Parliament. The outside is tired and bland concrete however the reception and ground floor front of house were relatively new and bright. Unfortunately the rooms were even more tired and in much need of a refurbish. The quality of the TV reception was also poor. Breakfast looked attractive but in closer inspection the meats were bland, the bread selection unadventurous and the fruit salad boring.

- Free WiFi in rooms and public areas
- Free parking
- Onsite dining
