Harbour porpoises, dolphins, seals, red squirrel and otters can all be seen in the area. Logan Botanical Gardens is a must during spring and summer with its beautiful displays of rare and native plants. Other beautiful gardens in the area include Castle Kennedy, Glenwhan and Dunskey. Logan Fishpond in the nearby village of Port Logan is an interesting and unusual local attraction. Five miles north of Stranraer is Cairnryan, home to the Stena Line and P&O ferries which make regular trips to Ireland. We had a good week in Jura Cottage.
We had a good week in Jura Cottage. It's in a great location with good views and is pretty comfortable. There are loads of books and DVDs if the weather keeps you inside as well.On the downside, fridge space is a bit tight for somewhere that sleeps six and it had no wee freezer compartment for ice cubes. Yes, there is a chest freezer in the cupboard but it wasn't on so not ideal if you arrive with some frozen food. That said, the wee local shop is well stocked and the cafe was nice. We'd book it again.

We had a fantastic time at Jura, Drummore, lovely sandy beach just up the road, great for the kids and dog walking, flying kites and swimming in the sea.
The cottage had everything we needed, apart from double bed a bit small as we're used to a king but that's us :-), location was great and easy to find. Was lovely waking up to sea views from several windows. Lots of small birds feeding in the garden.
Drummore itself is very small, has one shop, you can get most things there. Gallie Craig at the Mull of Galloway has fantastic views and a fantastic and very reasonable café, Tign Na Mara restaurant at Sandyhills was lovely, the Clashwhannon was good, nice pub grub.
Lots of things to do and lots of sea air, we will be back !

Lovely house very clean and opposite lovely quiet beach.
Lovely house very clean and opposite lovely quiet beach. Not much in village though. Pubs and bistro look they have been closed for years. Just one pub left by caravan site and small shop. Also main road closed when the sea is rough and minor road was far too small for all the traffic on it so bit of a rotten trip. Too many Camper vans on a single track road!

Lovely cottage in the perfect location on the southern side of the village of Drummore 20 yds from the beach and with easy reach of Drummore's attractions. (2 pubs, a well stocked general store and a cafe). Further afield the lighthouse on the Mull, Port Logan and Port Patrick are all in easy reach. Nearest town is Stranraer which has everything to might have forgotten to bring
Could do with a little TLC, showing evidence of damp in a few spots. As it was November I would recommend updating the heating also. (But that's just being picky). As a solo traveler I found it well equipped although it might possibly be a little cramped at full occupancy.
Everything considered a stunning spot with nice walks directly from the front door.

Lovely cottage, overlooking the bay.
Lovely cottage, overlooking the bay. Great base for touring the area. Saw seals in the bay, and dolphins at the lighthouse just down the road. Managed a couple of warm days, where we had a splash in the sea with the kids, and got the kayak out.

Jura is ideally situated & very clean, lovely bright bedrooms.
Jura is ideally situated & very clean, lovely bright bedrooms. The fridge is far too small for 6 people & the crockery is limited, also the WiFi was variable. However, good oven, dishwasher & outside seating. Perhaps the washing line could be improved. It is a lovely cottage in gorgeous location. Very peaceful & exceptional cleaning.

A stunning location and a short walk to the village shop.
Extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming local community.
Lovely, warm house with great open plan living area. Fantastic sea views across the bay.
Just needing a little TLC with internal paint as there has maybe been a bit of damp/water staining after winter. Also, a small thing but could be fixed-the toilet seat did not fit properly in that the back fell down when it was sat on!
