Airth Castle Hotel & Spa

Words cannot describe the squalid conditions of Airth castle hotel and spa. Don't let the beautiful pictures fool you. The castle itself is gorgeous and so are the grounds but the rooms are grimy, mouldy and in dis-array. When we checked into our room we were so disappointed by the state of the room and felt really let down by the false advertisement on their website.I have attached pictures of the true state of the hotel and have listed a few points below: 1. Upon check in I left my card behind the desk so I could pre pay my room and authorise charges. I checked in at 4pm.. when I went down for drinks around 9 I was embarrassed at the bar when the barman advised there was no card details on file. I went out to reception- panicking that they had linked my card to another room. Only to find my card details had been left on the desk at times unattended. This could have been taken by anyone passing the desk!!! 2. The food in the restaurant was actually lovely. The service was not. 20 minutes after being seated we finally placed our drinks order. The light fitting was broken and poorly repaired. There was old horrible carpet piled up behind the desk. We waiting about half hour for our plates to be collected with the wait staff avoiding us at all costs. 3. The room had mould growing on the bathroom and the towel rail hanging off the wall. The bed was broken, sheet hanging off the bed. Curtains were in dis-array. The room was so old and dated- beyond repair. 4. I was part of a bridal party who could not steam their dresses as the bathroom was so mouldy. Such an awful experience for a bride the night before the wedding. 5. I spoke to Agnes the duty manager on 23/9 and she agreed with me that the room was disgusting. She offered me £50 off my bill. Which I appreciated. However she advised when I came back (lol) to ask for a refurbished room. You should not have to ask for a nice room in a hotel.. they should all be of a high standard. Especially for £129 a night!!!! I was so disgusted by the hotel. Please read this before visiting- and you can see from the photos how bad it was.

Arrived for a 2 night DB&B break and initially we were in the main Hotel area however we had asked for the Castle when booking. We were quickly swapped into Rm 1 by Eilidh who was super friendly and polite on reception. Rooms were spotless, spa area had great opening hours and the Restaurant served excellent food from breakfast to dinner. I did notice all the staff were very professional and friendly with a special mention to Lauren who served us at breakfast both days. Across the board the staff could not have been more accommodating. Very easy to walk to Kelpies from this hotel and excellent base for cycling to Falkirk or Stirling. I did notice other deals advertised that I had not seen when initially booking so will definitely have a return visit.

Stayed for a 2 night family break 4 couples with children Breakfast great and a varied choice of food,at dinner . Staff lovely from reception, waiting staff and housekeeping . Rooms nice and clean but in need of updating. We would definitely return.

My daughter and i booked an overnight stay which included bed breakfast lunch evening meal and 2 massages We were made very welcome by all the friendly staff throughout the hotel ! our room was large with comfortable beds and large bathroom tv with kettle tea /coffee and a lovely welcome pack of two small bottles of prosecco and strawberries ! (nice touch) The food at the hotel was 1st class and plentiful after enjoying some time in the spa area the icing on the cake was the wonderful back neck and shoulder massage and facial which i received from Andrea ( ive had a few in my time but this was the best ever ) ! We left the hotel next day after a hearty breakfast and feeling totally relaxed will definately return

Great place to stay not far from Falkirk, but out in countryside. Some rooms are in the castle, but most are in more purpose built modern blocks a little further down the drive. The bed was very comfortable and when we needed more milks for our drinks reception arranged for more to be delivered and it was fresh milk in a jug. Had dinner in the restaurant which has a good selection of reasonably priced food - or there's a bar menu. Breakfast next morning was self service buffet and also large and varied but that may have been because there was a large coach party in - it was a mid week day. My only annoyance was that we ordered tea twice and it took ages to come. Would definitely stay here again

Had a lovely stay here, the room was clean, well equipped and the bed was comfy, the towels were lovely and fluffy. The food was excellent and the spa facilities great too. Nothing to complain about at all. Yes it needs some tlc in the main castle but I loved the quirkiness of it. Would not hesitate to stay again. We stayed on a deal of bed breakfast and evening meal with a bottle of wine. Excellent value for money.

As march is a difficult time of year me and my sister decided to treat ourselves to a wee spa break, revitalise me package which i must say is well worth the money , we weren't disappointed staff were all lovely, there was a error with our room when we got there double bed instead of twin but was rectified quickly and efficiently, the Jacuzzi wasn't working but didn't ruin our time spent there, treatments were so relaxing, food was amazing and little bottles prosecco with strawberries just finished evening off nicely, buffet breakfast was lovely although had to ask staff for coffee when we waited 20 mins for it to come to table but not end of world, already talking about returning in march again next year, looking forward to it although may return sooner if we can <3 xoxo

My husband & I stayed here for an over night stay a few weekends back. The rooms are very dated, we had dinner and it wasn't the best either was very disappointed. The hotel is lovely to look at just a shame the room and food let it down. Won't be rushing back anytime soon

We booked this on a last minute spur of the moment and from the images it looked lovely, however on arrival we were given a twin room which was an error I made during booking, the room quite frankly was awful dated and sparse and looked more like a room in a £20 a night hostel! We upgraded to a room in the castle so £170 spent so far the room was nice but so many issues! No extraction fan in bathroom fridge not working no water to drink TV remote not working .....went for dinner only to be told we hadn't reserved a place no seats available until 9.45 we had to drive to brewers fayre along the road to have some food!! Also went to local garage to buy bottled water!!the female on reception was not at all interested in our views and I would really recommend you take these comments on board as I wouldn't like anyone else to feel as disappointed as we did .I welcome a response from the hotel and not the standard pretyped "thank you for your feedback we take onboard your comments" nonsense we worked hard to pay for this and feel a proper response is definitely required .

We were with a coach party, and stayed four nights. I was a bit concerned when I read other reviews, so was relieved when we first went to our room, to see that it was ok, and looked comfortable. I will try and be honest and fair about our experiences here. The furniture looked very tired but quite functional. The room was clean and had all the conveniences of a four star hotel. Apart from the small amount of mould, the bathroom too was clean, and the large bed comfortable . Food for the group was good, but too fancy, and minimal. They did their best for me being a vegan, but at our overnight stay at The Gables in Gretna Green, one of our party said we ought to send a photo of our meal to The Airth Hotel, to show them what a good meal looked like. Would I stay again? Yes I would . The staff were lovely and friendly. I have stayed in better hotels , and I have certainly stayed in worse. Others in the party had more to complain about, but it is up to them to write a review.
