Rodeway Inn State College

I needed to stay overnight on business in State College and was not going to be spending a lot of time in my hotel room. I booked the Rodeway Inn because it was one of the least expensive options and is located close to the Penn State campus. The gentlemen who checked me in was exceedingly friendly. My room was very clean, albeit smaller than more expensive hotel chains. There was a mini-frig, microwave and HD TV but no coffee maker that I could find. (But free coffee was available in the lobby.) The free breakfast was rather limited, but I didn't mind given the price. I would stay here again.

Our expectations were low considering the hotel was no a brand we recognized but they achieved more value than many of the bigger brands. The people running the place care.

Check-in was quick. The manager was friendly. The room was clean and pretty comfortable. It was also huge. The only negative was the air conditioner, which was a window unit and on the louder side. Otherwise, it exceeded my expectations.

The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we enjoyed having a king size bed. It felt just like home. Dominoes pizza is next door for a late night snack too

I was disappointed in the motel. I thought I booked a room in a hotel, not a motel. The photo and the motel web site are deceiving. I had questions for the staff and they were unable to answer them. The location was not what I expected. They claim it is close to the town and the PSU campus. I walked once and it took me 30 minutes. I then drove in town and had to pay to park to walk around town and the campus. They offered a continental breakfast which was enjoyable. I am a Penn State grad and was here for the weekend to visit. I took lots of photos and ate in restaurants that I enjoyed as a student. I also shopped in town.

I have never stayed in a 1 star hotel and was apprehensive. But it all turned into a pleasant surprise. Room was spacious and clean. It had tv, wifi, fridge, and microwave. With complementary breakfast, it was a great value for money

We need a place to stay for one night that was close to town and kid-friendly. Rodeway was in a great location and best of all the front desk manager was very nice, not just to us, but most importantly to our kids, If you are nice to our kids you win our hearts and Rodeway did. The room had a refrigerator, a microwave and we were served a small but warm and tasty complimentary breakfast, all things which made our stay comfortable.

The room was average at best. The smell in the room that of old sweat. The beds were actually nice. The restrooms were not cleaned properly the entire 6 days I stayed there which is surprising because the bathroom was the size of a closet (literally!). The shower was about the size of my body and there was no hot water at 4a.m. Very sad! I wish I would have made a different choice and I recommend anyone else to do so.

For the most part the room was clean and OK for the money. The location was good relative to where I wanted to be. The picture on the web site, however, does not adequately represent this motel. The picture provided is basically the office. The motel proper is actually an old style type motel with two levels and room access from outside rather than from inside a building. Since I was just looking for a bed for the night while passing through, this place served it's purpose. All in all I got what I paid for based on today's typical motel prices.

We only stayed 1 night during Thon to visit my daughter. The room was outdated a bit, but clean. We did hear a lot of noise from above room. Over all it was a descent room for the low price. We were pleased it had a nice tv & fridge & microwave in the room.

This hotel is clean, but provides the bare minimum for the price. We could have stayed elsewhere for a little more money (like $10!) and gotten a lot more. Several people from our group stayed at nearby hotels and paid only a little bit more and theirs were far superior to ours. It is clean, it is cheap, but that's about it.

After reading other reviews decided that all we needed was a room for one night and this would do. Sorry I gave it a try. The room looked like it has been recently painted and updated which was good but the carpet did not reach entirely to the walls leaving gaps, and the air-conditioner which was needed in July was so noisy that we got absolutely no sleep. Since all we expected out of this stay was a good night sleep that was a fail. Also, the man in the office for both check in and check out was the most rude person I have encountered at a hotel. He totally ignored me when I asked him a simple question and even ignored me the next morning when I returned the key and said thank you. No acknowledgement at all.

Location and price is excellent. No frills hotel. No problems. Clean. Second time stay. Plan to return again.

Definitely not worth the price...... Did not even have an Iron in the room.

This is a nice little hotel in State College that always has a decent price and the bare essentials when you just need a place to land. The bathrooms are incredibly small and the beds aren't that comfy, but all the right parts are there for a place to land.

The check in staff was very helpful. The room was clean. We slept well.

We were there just for the night before our son moved into his dorm. It's an older motel with the outside walkways enclosed. Sort of like making a "sunroom" out of your porch. It was clean. There was a fridge and microwave in the room. Breakfast in the office/lobby was coffee, orange juice and danishes. The best part is how close it is to campus. There are plenty of places to eat and shop nearby.

Basic hotel, very friendly staff, would recommend if not planning on spending too much time in the hotel besides to rest your head.

very clean and close to everything;comfortable

This is the worst place I ever stayed. When I found out there was a double charge, I asked the staff to try to figure out what happened. However, the staff yelled at me and was unwilling to resolve the situation. He was really rude.
