The room was large and clean but the hotel is very dated. The luggage carts were all broken and we were told new ones were on order. That does not help those of us who are checking in right now, to know that others in the future will have working luggage carts. The breakfast was served using all paper and plastic and the eggs were made from powdered eggs. We should have had breakfast out or in our room. If you don't need a full refrigerator/freezer and stove I would recommend staying in another newer hotel.
This hotel is in desperate need of a renovation . I frequently stay in this chain in other cities and I was very dissatisfied with this hotel for the price that I paid. The rooms were small. The bed was small as well. The room smelled like smoke. Unless renovations happen at this location I will pick another hotel in the area to stay when visiting my son at college. Very disappointing for the Marriot brand.
After a 5 hour journey, we arrived at 10:30 pm only to find that our room wasn't going to accommodate our family of 5. This came after a personal call to the hotel days prior and then again 4 hours prior to arrival. Since there wasn't a rollaway bed available, it was suggested that we could have extra pillow and blankets to creat a sleeping space; perhaps on the floor. Since it was so late I was shown the small room, which would have been fine for a smaller family, but the walk to the room was even more deterring. This is an aging hotel that hasn't been updated in a decade (at least). The elevator and halls were dirty/old and there was a smell. The manager, and person I had previously communicated with, was very vey nice and tried to make it work but ultimately there wasn't a room. Luckily we were able to get a room across the street at the Courtyard Marriott.
I stayed at the Residence this past Saturday night... what would have been a nice stay was ruined Monday morning when I checked my credit card statement. It started with three $20 dollar charges on my card. I understand it is customary to put a single charge on your card that is released at check out. However for some reason they put 3 on my card. In addition the room was booked with points so there should have not been any charge. I also had a $180 charge on my card. Now I have to follow up over the next several days to make sure these charges get removed.. Normally I use a different hotel chain but I thought I would give Marriott a try by using a credit card offer I received.. looks like I am going back to my old hotel chain..
Travelling to New York and had a two night stopover on the way to break up the drive. It is a beautiful town and we enjoyed discovering what it has to offer. Its a short drive to downtown and shops if you need them. The property was clean and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good and a huge thank you to the kitchen staff who worked tirelessly to accommodate us travellers. We were also lucky enough to enjoy two of there evening get togethers - Burger and Beer night and parfait night (which our 10 year old loved). We were on the ground floor which was fine but unfortunately we had noisy neighbours above - that can happen anywhere. There is a pool, basketball court and BBQ area with fire pit. You can talk to other travellers and get some tips. There is also a coin operated laundry which is clean, tidy and reasonably priced. Thank you Residence Inn staff for an enjoyable stay.
We stayed for my wife's 3 day work trip in State College. Our kids loved the property, basketball court, swimming pool, patio area to sit and enjoy the evening after long day. The staff was amazing and always went out of their way to help us in any way possible. The breakfast was very good and filling. The evening snacks were really tasty and best of all was grilled b-que. The rooms were clean, kitchen was added bonus. Thank you once again and we hope to come back with family during our next trip.
Stayed 6/16/17-6/18/17. Our stay was wonderful until I realized when I got home that my brand new Garmin 235 was missing. I only wore it once and left it in the hotel room the rest of the time. Upon tearing apart everything in my house I realized I either (a) left it in the room on the kitchen table, or (b) left it in the backpack that never left the room until we checked out and drove home. When I called, the front desk associate said it was not in lost and found. That leaves one possibility...it was stolen. We did find it weird that when we went into our room on Saturday, after it had been cleaned, a trash can was left on its side in the middle of the bathroom area, but we chalked it up to a mistake. Now I wonder whether someone was in a hurry to leave after being in our room. The front desk associate said the housekeeping manager would check with her staff, but obviously no one will confess to stealing a $345 watch if they haven't come forward already. Needless to say, it's incredibly frustrating and disheartening that someone would do this, especially at a nice hotel chain (and actual hotel) that we have frequented for years. Please keep your valuables with you if you stay at this hotel, or ask for a safe because this is the first hotel that I have stayed in without a safe.
We used this hotel for a wedding. The bride and groom has blocked off a group of rooms for guests. We were incredibly satisfied with our stay, the staff was very accommodating and the rooms were spotless. With a full kitchen, the room felt more like an apartment than a hotel. It was close to the university and businesses. I highly recommend if you are looking for a place to stay in State College.
Great location. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is OK but not great. They do have cookies and coffee available all day. Rooms were clean and comfortable Good choice for a nice comfortable stay
Many, if not all of the rooms are suites with a full sized refrigerator, range, microwave, and pots and pans for an extended stay. The room had a eating/living room combination and a separate bedroom. Breakfast is included. The room(s) included two flat screen TV's with many cable channels.
