What a surprise find trying a new hotel in the State College area. Beautiful setting off the beaten path but close to highway, stores and Penn State. Rooms are appointed like a high end hotel with an affordable cost. I did not try the restaurant, but will be sure to on my next stay.
Check in was nice and quick, Our room was spacious and well appointed. The grounds are beautiful, will definitely stay here next visit. And a nice surprise was a full breakfast, cooked to order, was included each morning of our stay.
This may be the nicest inn in which we have ever stayed. The location is scenic, the inn is lovely, the rooms are large and quiet and the restaurant and bar are old fashioned, relaxing and the service and food are extraordinarily outstanding. Kudos to Ken the steward for being so friendly, service oriented and showing us such a lovely time!
We travel to State College regularly to visit family and sometimes for business. The Carnegie is the only place we stay now. Inica at the front desk and Anita in the dining room were especially helpful and friendly during our last trip. We travel a lot but rarely see the sort of personal attention that we get at the Carnegie. We have never stayed in a room we didn't like, so no advice about which room to request. All rooms are well decorated and very quiet. The hotel is like a rufuge when we travel. We can't wait to return.
Front desk lady on the morning of August 27th declined to help with luggage even though she was not busy and I told her my brother's foot was injured (hairline fracture). When I asked her to help, she told me - "it will be me" and let it hang in the air as if waiting for me to rescind the request. I'm not sure if she had an injury or something but it certainly sounded like she was too good to help out. When I insisted, she asked the busy kitchen hand, who was in the middle of breakfast service, to help out. In the end, we just made multiple luggage trips. The pool also had the cover on without explanation during hours it was supposed to be open. The hotel was otherwise consistent with its 4 star rating.
We had a great weekend at Carnegie Inn & Spa. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the service is excellent. The staff was attentive to all of our needs. The room was huge, clean, and very attractive and comfortable. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to State College.
We're usually a Hilton family, but by the time we decided we wanted to arrive the night before for our daughter's 8AM college move-in, the places we normally stay were booked. I booked this instead, and we now may have a new favorite place in State College! Spacious and comfortable room, and extremely nice and helpful staff. Seth at check-in was wonderful! Escorted us to our room and made sure we had everything we needed. When my husband got a hankering for ice cream & called the front desk, Seth said the restaurant was closed, but he still found a way to bring us ice cream. Included breakfast was delicious. Setting is lovely - wish we had had more time to enjoy it.
The hotel is hiding on the golf course. The decor is diffetent in every room as i stayed several times. The amenities are plush and the restaurant is appropriate for this hotel/spa. The rec center is across the street but worth the short walk. Nice workour room with a leisure section with pool table and kitchen. A recommended stay
This was our 3rd visit at Carnegie and enjoy the hospitality of the staff and the rooms. Dining is the best we have found in the area. It has become our favorite place to stay. Nice to have a full breakfast included.
Friendly Staff! Comfortable bed and very nice room. The shower was good. Watch!!!! It was a little slippery. It was quite and roomy. It was quaint and beautiful. The overall stay was wonderful. The scenery is fabulous.
