A must see property for anyone in the area. Most definitely a hidden gem. My wife and i stayed for our anniversary. The staff was fantastic, food was amazing and the room was gorgeous. We will definitely be back!
Starting with the elegant old style library a great place to enjoy drinks and hor devours. Wonderful shrimp, bruschetta, prime rib.... Dinner started with a tastey salad, my filet was cooked to perfection as were the vegetables. Service was excellent and my glass was always refreshed.
Torn bedspreads, torn chairs, torn and frayed lamps. Has business correspondence sent here and they have a policy NOT to sign for packages - that's funny they have before. X 5. Housekeeping does not address rooms, had to change my own sheets, no help with ones bags, no one at the front t desk which is in a closet. Left a brand new coat there the last time I was there was returned having been worn by the inn's manager, Rebecca Mueller. Wow stay away!!
My husband and I dined here for our wedding anniversary and will absolutely return! It was a perfect dining experience from cocktails in the library to personalized dessert! We both had shrimp cocktails (HUGE delicious shrimp) and the filet mignon. I have to say, the steak was far better than what the local "steakhouse" restaurants offer. A beautiful restaurant, very attentive staff, and delicious, beautifully presented food! Go Carnegie!!
We have stayed in many hotels in the State College area for years, but never had the pleasure of staying here. I booked the room six months prior to the Penn State spring football game and got a great rate for a Saturday night. The Carnegie Inn & Spa doesn't seem like its in State College; it has a resort feel to it. Our room was beautiful, complete with a large bathroom and premium bath products. Loved the window seats! The complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast was a real treat. Highly recommend the Inn for anyone visiting Penn State and the State College area and doesn't want a typical hotel experience. Only "issue" was the crushingly slow Internet connection.
This lovely inn near State College succeeded our expectations. We simply loved everything about our stay and, at that time, wished having allocated at least another night. The place is so comfortable and homely we didn't want to leave it. Our room had more than 7 different places to sit besides the massive king size bed, and we don't even think we got the best room! The common grounds of the hotel and the library were so beautiful and well kept as well. I would love to visit again and hopefully stay for a bit longer. One suggestion: there should be a lobby for check in/out. We felt a bit awkward when arrived and had didn't know where to go and ended up in this tiny office where they give you your keys. This was probably the only down side out of the whole experience. Ps: you get full access to the pool and gym from a building across the street. The gym was AMAZING!
Have known about this place for years and finally stayed and ate there. One of those places with a decor and comfort level and great service that you don't often find. Dined on wild salmon and partner had pasta with meat sauce. Both were some of the best we have had in years. Very nice wine selection and you start your meal in library with a drink at a very relaxed pace. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Very clean everywhere. Complementary breakfast off menu was excellent as well. Definitely will return. Voted best dining in State College
My siblings and I spend 2 nights here every year, just the four of us, as a yearly reunion. This is a beautiful hotel with elegant rooms and suites, a first class restaurant, and wonderful attention to detail. Little touches like drinks and complimentary hors d'ouvres in front of the fire while we waited to be seated for dinner always make our stay special. My sisters and I make a point of enjoying a morning together at the spa. The free breakfast is every bit as good as you would expect to get if you paid for it, served at table with china and linen. This hotel is a destination, not a "just passing through and need a bed" stopover.
We have stayed at this hotel multiple times and each visit has been good. The vibe is that of a large bed and breakfast... personalized service, large porch, lovely onsite 'fine' dining and spacious rooms. The building sits on a golf course and across from a workout center, which is nice... Great location within 10 minutes of downtown PSU so an overall nice option for parents weekend. Stay includes breakfast (from menu, not buffet or continental) which is also nice.
My husband was on a business trip and allowed me to tag along, he generally books hotels through priceline and requests 3-4 star hotels. Carnegie Inn was above and beyond in all areas. We were personally greeted by the gentleman on duty for the evening, I think his name was Sam. He was very kind and helpful and full of useful information re; the hotel and the surrounding area. The room/suite was beautifully decorated, loved the beautiful bathroom with a luxurious tub as well as a shower. Breakfast was included. My only reqret is that we did not arrive earlier and stay longer. It is definitely a place that we plan on returning to, especially to take advantage of the special chef meal. We were given a tour and history of the hotel from Sam.
