My wife and I just returned from a 2 night stay while visiting Penn State. Carnegie Inn & Spa had been recommended to us many times by a business friend. We have stayed in many other hotels in the State College area for years. This stay was our first stay at Carnegie Inn & Spa and it was absolutely the best stay ever. The hotel is immaculate, the room spacious with a large bathroom, very comfortable bed and had all of the nice touches of a first call hotel room. The breakfast (included in the room charge) was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did not dine in the restaurant, but will do so on our next visit. The menu and wine list looked terrific. We highly recommend Carnegie Inn & Spa.

This is our 2nd time staying at this lovely boutique inn - in July 2017 we stayed for 5 nights and in March 2018 3 nights. Because of the extended stay, we were able to truly appreciate the charm and good value this place offers - the tasteful decoration of old world charm throughout the entire place: from the lobby, restaurant, library, lounge, hotel rooms and the spa.... it is small hotel but who needs a huge intimidating establishment when all we need is a pleasant and comfortable stay with great service? Great service is the key here. We had a good price during the 1st stay since we booked months ahead. When I emailed Rebecca Muller of the inn for our 2nd visit, she replied promptly and offered us the same low rate. During the entire stay, every staff we interacted with was friendly, attentive and professional. I am sure this has attracted a lot of returned customers, business and tourists alike. I also noticed they take customer feedback seriously. In my last visit feedback, I briefly mentioned the limited sink counter space in the bathroom. Guess what? There is a sink cabinet installed that is not only functional, but also stylish and complements the spacious bathroom and its stylish decor. Our toiletries are happy to find a place to stay too! This trip I also had the time to soak in the huge luxurious bath tub 2 nights in a row, to realise how comfortable it is. We have seen similar huge bath tubs only in the more expensive 4/5 star hotels! Those who have stayed here would agree the rooms are much larger than other hotels. Both rooms we have stayed were decorated with fine quality furniture - a large sofa and arm chair, a coffee table and 2 end tables, a desk and chair facing one of the 2 windows, a credenza with drawers on which there is a TV (although we never turned it on), one King or 2 double beds, a long bench at the end of the bed, 2 night tables, plus closet and the huge bathroom. The total size is likely double the space of most hotel rooms. You would not feel cramped when you are relaxing in your own room. During both stays I visited the spa, which I’d highly recommended. It offers full spa service and the staff are attentive and professional. I have the same massage therapist. And like last time, almost fell asleep! You can make appointments on line to avoid disappointment. Breakfast is included and it is a make-to-order full breakfast in the elegant dining room. It is a great start for the stay. I have a separate review with pictures for the wonderful breakfast and dinner experience at the restaurant. This is one of the reasons of our return visit, or many more visits to come! In all, it is a hotel choice that I would strongly recommend!

Paul Kendeffy’s Chef’s Table at the Carnegie Inn is a dining experience not to be missed—perfect for a special occasion. We have been aware of Paul’s incredible culinary skills from the time we first met him some twenty years ago. He continues to challenge himself, constantly honing his skill set while delighting his patrons with his passion for presenting dishes inspired by a love for the art of cooking. Paul is particularly engaging as he describes the dishes as well as the ingredients he has used in them. Delicate herbs from Paul’s garden, perfectly aged beef, the best seafood and fish, a variety of fowl and always the freshest vegetables serve as his inspiration for new creations. This chef is not afraid to experiment with flavors or spices and, most importantly, he is able to interchange food for special dietary needs without sacrificing taste or texture. Whether you prefer a light or decadent dessert to top your culinary experience, it is sure to be the perfect culmination to a wonderful evening! We find it most enjoyable having small plates that are Paul’s choice to prepare for us. The hot mushroom “tea” served with fresh thyme on a string, to steep as long as you like, was the perfect tonic when we first arrived on an “arctic” cold and windy evening in January. If you like mushrooms, this “tea” will become a favorite! One of the most delightful parts of being in the kitchen is watching Paul’s delicate touch as he prepares and plates the dishes. There is a quiet motion, a rhythm, as each incredibly talented member of the kitchen staff, creates one masterpiece after another. In the background, the sounds of the great jazz musician, Miles Davis, seem to have been written specifically to compliment the delicious experience at The Chef’s Table. An evening spent in Paul’s kitchen certainly surpasses our expectations! Debbie and John Carder

Took my parents for a day away. Stayed at Carnegie. Receptionist was warm and welcoming. The facility was first rate. First class operation we will be back again. Was a pleasure. We picked them out at random and what a good choice. They offer spa and massage services too

The Inn is beautiful; the restaurant superb, but this trip the young lady who is the day manager outdid every expectation of what management should be like. With temps in the single digits, when she arrived at the Inn in the early morning hours, she cleaned off every guests' car. Guests couldn't believe her kindness and for those of us who are senior citizens it was even more appreciated. The level of service at the Carnegie is simply the best

We stopped at the Carnegie Inn when business brought me to the State College area. We wanted something different than the "suites" hotel experience and we found it at this Inn. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful. We are looking forward to a return visit.

I travel extensively in the Fall- 48 hotel nights since September 10. The Carnegie INN and Spa was the best hotel I have stayed in. The moment you walk in, the staff- in this case Inica, make you feel like a very valued guest. The room was superb- I had a King bed. The cuisine is excellent- both my supper and breakfast were delicious. I was so happy to find this property and I look forward to the next time I pass through the Happy Valley! Don’t even hesitate to books here! Thank you Inica and the rest of the staff!

My friend and I stayed at this awesome place for the PSU parent/family weekend. Book early! The place was everything we expected and more! The rooms are very spacious and beautifully furnished. Wonderful to relax and unwind after spending the day/evening running around. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location is great too. They have a charming bar/restaurant with a patio & garden to enjoy the outdoors if the weather permits. We did find after checking out that a cooked-to-order breakfast was included. That would've topped off a perfect stay!

My small crew and I stayed at the Carnegie when we were in town shooting a commercial for PSU. The staff was unbelievably personable and attentive, and the hotel itself is packed with character and feels more like a B and B. The setting is lovely, quiet and very well maintained. This will definitely be my first call if I return to State College!

What a surprise find trying a new hotel in the State College area. Beautiful setting off the beaten path but close to highway, stores and Penn State. Rooms are appointed like a high end hotel with an affordable cost. I did not try the restaurant, but will be sure to on my next stay.
