Love..love ..love the front desk staffs : Olga and her trainees, and Salan. They helped directing the taxi driver to go around places we wanted to go i.e the tourist spots and ballet performance. Even they offered the help to get taxi, by just calling them, and they will order taxi to fetch us in an appointed post. It broke the communication barrier with the taxi driver, as well as ensuring I could get taxi. After bad experience with taxi from the airport in Moscow who charged me 5 times the usual fare.... the gesture from these follows really cured my hurt feeling... and change my perspective about Russia in general. The staff always greeted me with smile and waving me, whenever I passed front office - I experienced only in this hotel. In cold rainy weather, small thing that could really cheer us up, given that we are travelling long way to Russia. The room is good, clean, and off course very unique. We thought that we might wrongly choose hotel, because it has mural painting in the walls, having Japanesse animation figures, very youthful theme of which we had perception the hotel is for young people, and we might be out of place.... but apparently the guests are mix of older and young people, office workers and tourists like us. So we feel fine, and even enjoyed the unique design of the hotel. The glass window is spread from side to top - give funny but delightful experience. Oh ya... the clock on the TV (a girl painting the numbers to indicate time... is creative, made us laughing too). Apparently each floor has different animation theme. We were in second floor, and it has Japanesse Theme of wall mural design. The dining room is really comfy. The design is like those older days kitchen, very warm feeling. The foods are also good, essential basics are there. The staff there (a tall young man) always stand by, very observant and quickly remove dirty utensils once we finished having something. Location wise - not very far from city center. We tried slow walk from city center, and its fine. There is also bus stop close by, metro station is within 15 minutes slow walk (mind that we are 60 years old couple, probably its half the time for young people). Many supermarkets, cafes and restaurants are within vicinity - good options to get something to eat/drink or to just relax. I will definitely come back if I visit the town, I will also recommend others to stay here.
I have stayed many times at Red Stars hotel and cannot say anything else than positive about this place. So close to Mariinsky and Novaja Gollandia and in the same modern feeling than those two. None of that old fashioned heavy Russian soviet style rather like a boutique hotel in soho. I want to come back many more times and will come for sure!
Comfortable stylish rooms in quiet location. Staff were always polite with a professional attitude and speak perfect English. I was greeted with a smile on arrival and could help myself to a complimentary berry juice. Throughout my stay I was impressed with the wonderful customer service. I was helped with arranging a sightseeing excursion, and when it came to food the classic Russian dishes from the menu were so delicious I thanked the chef personally. In the Suite there were two separate air conditioning systems for both bedroom and lounge areas which cooled the rooms instantly, and also whisper quiet in operation. The room features a luxury Lavazza coffee machine which was a nice feature, and complimentary bottles of top-brand mineral water are also provided. Spotlessly clean and very nice decoration. I slept really well. Additional features: Fridge and a safe in the room. Ironing room on second floor. Will visit again.
Enjoyed our stay here. Beds and food were good and staff very helpful and gave out their hotel cards so we could give them out to taxi drivers so we could find our way back after attending the ballet or sightseeing. Unusual decorating theme but place was clean and well kept, quiet and did require us to take taxis to sightseeing locations.
I was in St. Petersburg on a concert trip, and this was my second time staying in Red Stars. The location is good if your main interest is the Mariinsky Theatre, otherwise it is a little bit far from the centre. I like the hotel, the rooms are nice and well equipped. The reception is very welcoming, helpful, and polite. My only problem with the hotel itself is that in the wintertime the rooms are too hot. To make my room cool enough to sleep I had to keep the window open before bedtime (in winter!). What is a bit disappointing is the restaurant. The service in there can be painfully slow, and the menu is not very interesting (and the prices a bit on the high side). You get the picture about the service when I tell that the first night there were two wrong items in my bill, and on another day I found a piece of plastic in my soup but after pointing that out to the waiter I was still charged full price. I wish the customer service in the restaurant would be the same level as at the front desk, then maybe this hotel would deserve five stars.
I really enjoyed my six days stay at Red Stars Hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, the WiFi works all the time and the internet cafe with access to desktops is a nice addition, especially when you travel with only your phone. However, I want the emphasise the level of service which is very high. The front desk was constantly staffed with the kindest, most attentive and welcoming people. Their English was very good and they were always ready to answer questions, look things up, call a cab or print a boarding card. I even had issues with my room being too hot and they upgraded me to solve the issue. It's probably the best service I've had in a hotel ever, and I've travelled quite a lot.
Nice rooms with plenty of place, good breakfasts, nice stuff. Very clean. Location is not ideal, but very close to center 20-30 minutes walking distance. You coul also take a taxi it really not expensive .
I enjoyed my stay at the Red Stars hotel, the room was large and comfortable, with a nice and well maintained bathroom. I would have liked to have had a kettle and tea/coffee to make drinks, but there was a bottle of water provided each day and a minibar, as well as reasonably priced room service so it's not that important. The staff were helpful, but not particularly friendly. When I arrived at the hotel they did not offer to help me with my bags to the room or offer a map of the city and local area. They also did not tell me anything about transport or how to get around, which I would have liked but it's possible to find out other ways. The location is about a 20 minute bus ride away from the centre of town, so not walking distance but not too far. Overall, I would stay here again, but there were things which could have been improved.
When I got the hotel, I thought I was getting it in central. However, its little away from the central. I can't blame hotel for lack of proper research on my end. However one bus ride can get you to central. Getting to hotel from Airport is little tricky if you use public transportation. I needed 4 changes to get there. Better idea is you email hotel in advance about directions and smoothest way to reach there. Staff spoke great English and even had American lady working there. So i was well taken care of. When you are in foreign country where people don't understand your language well, it is always good to have hotel staff that understand you. That way you can get most information easily. If staff hadn't told me about drawbridges tour, I would have never seen such a spectacular sight. I also didn't know that if I got stuck on another part of the town, there was no way to get back to hotel. I love the staff here. Hotel is very close to famous Melinsky theater though. Room is very spacious and modern. The view is pretty good. I went there for white nights and was amazed. Although its very weird to have Tokyo theme everywhere. Or you could have made Tokyo style hotel with Japanese electronic toilets. I am a vegetarian and I had no problem with Breakfast or food. Although i was bored of having same food everyday. Just wished they had more options for me. Hotel WIFI was one of the fastest WIFI I have ever used in my life. I uploaded all my pictures on cloud within 2 hours. It was dream speed.
Staff is very very friendly. Rooms are bit small but very comfortable. Breakfast is good and room service is nice. They booked taxi for us for the city tour which is very economical. Spar supermarket is near to the hotel.
