It was a good and clean hotel but the location is out of the city centre and we take a taxi to go to the city centre. The breakfast was so so. Elevator was not suitable to reach all the rooms. Hotel yard is beautiful
The hotel is located within walking distance to the city center as well as the theater district. The rooms are clean and fine and the staff helpful with any questions. The breakfast was not specifically good but rather bad and boring.
Friendly staff at Reception and in restaurant. We were given an exceptionally large accommodation "room" which I think was in the older part of the hotel comprising double bedroom, office/bar, 'lounge' and 2 bathrooms. Family members in the newer part of the hotel were allocated the standard double bed bedroom. The hotel has a small open-air front garden suitable for relaxation. The only reservation we had was that the hotel is a little distant from the nearest metro (approx 7 minutes by hotel shuttle) and that the shuttle does not operate on Saturdays and Sundays. Also the last pick-up from the metro drop off point back to the hotel is at 21h00. Management should consider extending the shuttle service over week-ends and extending the city pick-up time to at least 24h00.
I've used the Matisov Domik on several occasions and it's always been an enjoyable experience and a good starting point and base camp for a visit to St. Petersburg. It certainly isn't flashy, if that's what you want then book the Four Seasons or Hyatt or one of the big name brands. What Matisov has is Russian charm. The staff speak English and are very helpful in meeting client needs no matter how big or small. The in-house restaurant is quite good and the meals are priced nicely for the traveler. It is a bit quirky this hotel. Sometimes I've gotten to my room to find a cat sleeping on the bed, or the lift (which stops halfway between floors so you have to walk half a flight up or down), but that's what makes it such an interesting place! It's only a 5 minute walk to Dekabristov street were you can find shops and other restaurants and stuff, and the #22 bus stop where you can get a bus to Nevsky Prospekt and the city centre. Give Matisov Domik a go, very good Russian hotel!
We stayed 5 nights during new year. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Quite diverse breakfast on offer. Hotel is in a quiet area, a bit of the beaten track. Yet with 10 minutes brisk walk you are on theatralne place and from there city centre starts. Hotel offers also free shuttle to metro. Attentive staff. We were unpleasantly surpised that with the false fire alarm all instructions were only provided in Russian.
The hotel is old, but nice. The room we got for two persons is big with extra bed. Very comfortable to stay. The served breakfast was great. The free wifi connection was okay. The location is accessible to interesting sites.
It is a nice old hotel in a really good place in front of a beautiful calm river in a silence street with a fantastic court for relaxing and reading in specially white nights. Manager and receptions are very very kind, respectful and helpful. when there I lost my passport and they did their best to help me. I should thank the manager and kind Christina. this hotel is full of calmness. it is to some extend old and even though it is tidy. Breakfast is good and may satisfy you. the hotel has a shuttle bus in fact you do not need it. because it would take only 30 min from hotel to Nevsky Street. hotel has a kind tour leader and the hotel holds different city tours with a reasonable price. If you want to go to this hotel take a book and do not doubt about it. Again Great thanks to the manager, dear Christina and kind tour leader.
We stayed her for 4 days. It is located in a quite area of the town about a 35 minute walk from the town center and it's not safe zone but they have shuttle service to near metro station for 5 days of every week. The rooms are clean. The reception service is excellent and They are very friendly and helpful. There is a free breakfast every morning. the hotel is big and for access to your room you must have 4 minute for that!!!!!! The elevator is not in the first floor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is not a hotel for people who cannot easily manage steps. There is an elevator, but it doesn't connect to the floors ... to reach our room we needed to climb a long flight of stairs, then the elevator, then a long flight of stairs down, across a small platform, 10 steps up again, then a long corridor to a spacious room with good beds. It takes several minutes for hot water to reach the shower :( There is no assistance available for getting one's luggage to one's room. So think about the above before you book here! Many items on the menu (both in the restaurant and in the bar) are in fact not available. Friendly staff.
Matisov is a good place for staying ... Staffs are friendly and kind, Rooms are very clean ... free parking , breakfast was not bad ... you can walk to metro and also take a taxi ... ;) good price I LIKE U ! :)
