This is what I call a high class place. History, stylish, perfect service, fabulous breakfast, live music, art, big rooms and bathrooms, quiet. Great location, too. Only minuses might be the lack of a big swimming pool or too small parking. But I didn’t neede either if them. Except for being pricey, it could be the perfect choice.
Second time to St. Petersburg. Stayed at this classy hotel for 5 nights, excellant service, beautiful and spacious room with good linens. Breakfast is very good, lots of choice for drinks and food. What a good start of the day after enjoying such a good breakfast! Location is perfect. Just steps away, one is at the busy main street which links to most of the point of interest. The busy street however is full of pick pockets which one needs to stay alert. Taxi drivers are no good too. We were overcharged for one taxi ride for more than 10 times the right fare. So hire taxi through the hotel or call uber which we did afterwards and were hassle free. St. Petersburg has so much to see and surely will visit again and stay at Grand Hotel.
Great hotel centrally located. The front desk and concierge provide absolute superb service. The rooms were large and well appointed. The hotel's two bars were great. The breakfast buffet had all the breakfast food anyone from any country could wish for. This is the hotel for Saint Petersburg
The main things that struck me as I entered my room were the espresso machine and the hidden TV in the cabinet that slid up at the press of a button. The buffet breakfast is excellent. I had a Beef Stroganoff for dinner that was really good. The location of the hotel is very good. Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood was hardly 5 minutes walk. There are eating places and souvenir shops nearby. You can change your currency at a bank branch just 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
From the time we checked in until we checked out, the staff made you feel that you were the most important guest in the hotel. I would recommend if you are going to St. Petersburg, this is the hotel you will want to stay in.
This wonderful hotel was recommended to us by a friend and boy were we happy that we stayed there! We spent a week in St. Petersburg and coming back every evening to this elegant, glorious. architectural pearl was a delight. The Room was beautiful, the bathroom was even more beautiful.. the mattress was a little too hard for me, but the pillows were the best I rested my head on for years. Breakfast was unbelievably wonderful - huge selection.beautiful decor - lavish yet classy - and sitting there for an hour every morning was a great start for every day. Last but not least, the service in this hotel is the best I have ever seen, in all my travels. Their staff is just genuinely interested in making it the best holiday you ever had, and they most definitely succeed!
We stayed four nights whilst touring St Petersburg. Our first impressions of the hotel were good with warm and welcoming front of house staff. Despite experiencing a slight hiccup during our check in, staff were extremely professional and apologetic for the disruption. We stayed in two deluxe rooms which were ideal as they face outwards (as opposed to superior rooms which face into the inner courtyard). They were beautifully furnished as if they had been preserved from a bygone era. The rooms were a large size featuring oversized beds, a desk and chairs. The lavish decor continued into the bathroom which featured old fashioned/traditional sink, toilet and bath with luxurious amenities. Breakfast at the hotel was a highlight of our stay. The buffet offered an extensive range of items with luxurious touches including sparkling wine and red caviar which really differentiate the hotel to other chain 5* hotels. Furthermore, the dining room was beautifully ornate with a large stained glass window brightening the room. The hotel itself could be counted as a museum within the city featuring ornate rooms and corridors throughout, furnished with historical paintings and furniture. The hotel's location make it an excellent base for touring the city. It is within walking distance to all the attractions in St Petersburg. We found the concierge staff to be extremely helpful and passionate about the city, recommending sites to visit and routes to take. The Belmond Grand Hotel Europe is an excellent hotel for both business and leisure. It's historic stature elevates it's prominence within the city making for a unique stay whilst experiencing the best of Russian hospitality.
Terrible service - no one opened the door for my husband when he stood there with a cup of coffee. Lack of attention by staff - very blasé and annoyingly unfriendly - rooms are terribly decorated and I quite frankly am very annoyed that I had to stay here for 4 nights . The only reason we stayed was due to,the fact that we had to prepay . Give me the 4 Seasons anytime !!! The only positive thing I can say is that the flowers in the ugly front lobby are beautiful . Fortunately we never spent any time at the hotel as we had a fabulous tour guide from Exeter. I write reviews regularly and this is only the second time I have written such a poor review . In addition there was never any sign of management or inquiries if we were enjoying ourselves.
Great location in the centre of Nevsky Prospect -- in walking distance of many sights and restaurants. Delightfully quiet. Great front office staff and restaurant staff. Maria Dorofeeva made sure that our stay was just what we wanted-- thanks, and Viktor on the front door was welcoming and full of humour. We will be back.
we spent 3 nights here at the end of our Russian holiday. The room was great, fresh fruit left for us as well as beautiful furnishings and extremely good service from all the staff. The breakfast was luxurious, I just wanted to try everything. I was so happy that these last 3 nights were the fabulous end to our amazing Russian holiday
