This hotel should never have been rated a 3.6. The food was lousy and uninteresting. I love Caribbean food but did not enjoy it I should mention when we first checked in to the hotel the ;person at the desk was very nice. The room was very lousy and looked like it came out of the Noahs ark. They are still reliving the '70's. Very ugly décor. Smelled of bleach, I do believe those rooms are moldy. W e requested and paid for ocean front room and we had to walk up and down stairs and no elevator. In fact the first time we checked in to Rex Lucian we carried our luggage up the stairs. My wife has a problem with her ankle and find it ;painful walking so did not need to be put on the second floor without a elevator. This review covers both the rooms we ;purchased. The had to change us to the Papillon and that was just as bad. The room my daughter was in was very moldy. We got terribly sick. We would never ever go back to that hotel even if you were to offer it free of charge. The people who did the water front amenities were fine and only a couple of people at the eating earing were nice and friendly. Going back to the room the Papillion consisted of two beds and a small television also a chest of drawers. There was not chairs to relax in. You need to send someone to investigate the rooms. If the guests are rating the hotel then that is the first time they have every stayed at a hotel.

This place is very modest and shows some aging but is still one of my favorites. You really can't beat the location, friendly staff and value. If you're looking for super high end you might want to look somewhere else. If you're looking for a charming relaxing hotel with with a great caribbean vibe you may have found your place. If I ever make it back to St Lucia I will absolutely stay here again:)

We travel a lot and don't complain much. A broken tile or an antiquated tv don't faze us. However, the SL is definitely in need of remodelation. The Pros: - location: Reduit beach is gorgeous and if you are not in the all-inclusive plan, Rodney Bay offers many places to eat or have a drink - the staff is very nice - it's clean The Cons: - this hotel doesn't really cater to children: even though it has a kids club, it is only open from 10-12 and 2-4, and while we visited, there were never any other children there. On the plus side, Doreen, the person in charge of the kids club, was great and played with my daughter even though she was the only child at the club - only one small (and not very clean) swimming pool - everything is old and in need of repair: closet doors with missing knobs, stained lamp shades, dripping sink, safety deposit box with malfunctioning screen, old tv that didn't work well - we requested a room in the second floor and were told their policy is to place families with children in the first floor only... that was new for us... - the food was OK, but there are only 3 restaurants and we had to eat at the buffet every day, as there were no reservations available at the other two the whole week! Management should organize this better so that every guest gets a chance to eat at all the restaurants at least once - wifi at the room was weak (hit or miss) Other: - we requested an extra bed the second night we were there and it was brought to us the next day - we didn't experience the invasion from cruise tourists at the beach that others had mentioned.. the beach was clean and had few people, but the sea was rough for most of our stay - the hotel doesn't offer any activities at all, which could be a plus for some, but was a minus for us as we were hoping to have the kids engaged and entertained

I think we stayed in the best area because the view and beach area was so great. There was a lot to do in the area and the hotel was very clean and staff was so friendly and helpful. Sy Lucian by Rex is a 3 star hotel that acts like a 5 star.

Our experience overall was good. The drinks were really good and strong, nothing skimmed there. The food is buffet style and the menu doesn't seem to change much. My mom and I ended up eating town a few times, which we didnt mind. The view from the beach is absolutely breath taking. Friendly people walk down the beach and sale you local souvenirs and are very knowledgeable about the island. The rooms were very tidy and house keeping came everyday to clean. The best attribute of this resort is the tour agency for sure. We had a driver one day who drove us all around. He educated us on island life and facts, went to see the Pitons, and much more. One day we also took a boat to another island, Martinique and shopped and swam on a black sand beach. Our last day there we hired the same driver by request to drive us to the market in Castries, do some shopping and the end the night with a little fun at the street party in Gros Islet. We had a wonderful time! Make sure to ask for the driver Jerry, he is the best! It was a good place overall to stay for our first time in St. Lucia!

Comfy clean room, beach is great. Dining room wait staff slow, after speaking with food service manager, service improved somewhat. Bar service good. Resort is walking distance to shops, casino and main bus stop. This resort is by no means luxury, great if you just want to chill and enjoy the beach.

The Rex has the best beach for swimming! The reception (by Franklin) was very warm and pleasant. Having a room with a balcony close to the shore is thrilling and beautiful with the look on Palm trees and nice flower gardens - dream of the south ! The Rex deserves more stars - but, please keep it simple unpretentious and as quiet as it is now. We enjoyed so much the music and also the silence, just hearing the sea. Nice food- was not overbearing. Of course the catamaran trip to the unique Pietons was wonderful. We would have liked a short stop to the old fisher village (Anse de Raye), but next time. We will definitely come again next year !!!

This is a great place to stay if you want to disconnect from reality and decompress. The resort is strictly three stars in all regards. The entire place could use an update/renovation. The beds are pretty wretched. I'm in my 30s, and my lower back pain upon waking was a little alarming. It's wonderful to be right on the beach. The beach itself is good, not great. The food is decent. Breakfast is the best; definitely get the fresh eggs made to order. Lunch needs some help. Dinner was pretty good. If you opt for a non-inclusive option, the hotel is across the street from many restaurants, local ones and American chains. There's a supermarket and a mall a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Be advised that the hotel is 1.5 hours from the airport, which can be a little taxing after a flight. The mixed drinks were tasty. The beer was warm. I was happier buying a six-pack of Piton from the supermarket, keeping it icy cold in my fridge, and then drinking on my balcony. Staff was pretty good, though some members did not have much of a personality, and many of the servers need to learn to smile.

This hotel's on a beautiful beach, so there's that. And it's close to town, within walking distance, which is great if you want to explore or hit the casino (fun). The service, unfortunately, was hit-or-miss. It took a full day to fix our air conditioner (ugh), and that was after several reminders. While some employees were friendly and accommodating, others seemed almost bummed out to acknowledge us when we asked for something basic. Word of advice: bring an adapter! There wasn't one available at the front desk the entire time we were there. We found one in the only store in town that carried them, but that was just lucky - it was the last one in stock! Phew! Food was adequate. I'll leave it at that. You'll have a great time here, like we ultimately did, if you spend a lot of time on the beach, go on a tour (we zip-lined through the rain forest!), enjoy the Saturday night entertainment on the beach (so fun), and don't expect a red carpet. But DO expect a working air conditioner! Insist upon it!

Staff very helpful, food was good, shopping close by around the hotel ,walking distance to other resterants and bars outside of the hotel also you can walk down beach for different food places. Beach was nice. overall we really enjoyed our stay. Hotel was an older place so rooms were a bit dated but comfortable and clean. Had many sitting areas around hotel and bar and beach area. Staff were very helpful. If you wanted to try different things on the island or tours. I would recommend place.Good value and good starting point to learn the Island,

Had a great stay. very good location. resort is older but has character. food was tasty but repetative. staff very friendly and helpfull. wonderfull beach. older crowd gerneraly throughout the beach area. beach was busy on cruise ship days but very quiet when the cruise ships not in. overall the tourist industry has taken a setback from last year resort was no more than half full.

The room was extremely clean, yet ordinary. Wifi worked throughout the resort and hotel. The sink in my room would never drain without a great deal of manipulation. Food was very good and got better closer to the weekend. There are not many things to do pertaining to nightlife at the hotel nor around the hotel. However, on the weekends things do become more lively. This is a great place to stay to unwind, enjoy the beach and really feel like you are in St. Lucia.

The Rex isn't fancy, but you get a great value and it was MUCH nicer than we'd expected. The location is amazing. The food is quite good and the hobie cat sailing is outstanding. Most of the staff are wonderful.. Megan, Veronica, Marina, Katherine, Lee and Tim at the bar, Wendy in housekeeping and the front desk staff were great. A few of the younger staff are quite rude and management should suggest they improve their attitude or find a job they like. We would go back in a heartbeat. It's a great place

I had booked this hotel because I wanted to work out! The gym was supposedly under construction. The drive from the airport is over 95 min even though it is only 23 form UVF

Friendly staff, great beach front location, walking distance to pubs, clubs, shopping and restaurants. The hotel has all inclusive option but it needs to have a better variety of international foods on buffet. Also for some reason the crowd at the time we stayed was above 50 yrs. old and extremely BORING! So if you are below 40 yrs. old you will find that most of the people vacationing there are old, grumpy and not fun, but like I said the staff is great, bartenders are friendly and made me laugh the whole time so I guess that made up for the old rude people that were there...by the way I'm 36, so not too young but not old either and I like to have a good time so i was a bit bummed about the place not being more lively.....

Place is a little dated, and definitely not for the uppity folks out there that can afford to burn cash to heat their homes, but for most of us looking for a great value, this is it. Rooms are updated, clean and adequate. Food and drinks are good and conveniently offered. Location is the star of the show here. This is the best stretch of beach on the island and, in my opinion, Rodney Bay is the best location on the island. The newer big pool with swim-up bar at the older end of the resort is very nice. Unfortunately, all of the rooms in this area have been closed for some time, awaiting renovations. Such a great location, hopefully this place isn't left to deteriorate even more. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Shout out to our favorite girl - Shanelle! Bottom line is this - if money is no object to you, go waste your hard-earned cash at Sandals, Body Holiday, or a Windjammer type resort. If you are coming to St. Lucia for the scenery, beaches, weather, etc and care about getting value out of your dollar - this is your place.

The experience was beautiful; the beach, the sea perfect. The food was always full of variety and very good. The all-inclusive package was ideal. The only minor negative was the people on the beach trying to sell things, at times annoying.
