I'm giving Grande Bay 5 stars because it's everything it's advertised to be. Comfortable, unbeatable location, friendly and helpful people working at the desk. We have stayed at Grande Bay booking through both the resort and through private owners, and we have had equally good experiences. People who are interested in convenience, being able to walk to town, and having a nice view out over Cruz Bay should consider staying at Grande Bay. The pool is nice and is heated. One afternoon, there were a lot of bees in the pool, which seemed like an isolated occurrence while we were there, but is something to consider if you're allergic. The reason I'm only lukewarm on Grande Bay for future stays is that despite all of its conveniences, it just doesn't feel very "St. John" to me. Yes it's in the heart of St. John. But we just don't have the same feeling when staying there that we've had in other locations around the island. But again, I'm giving it 5 stars because it definitely provides a fantastic option for those who are looking for the convenience first and foremost.
We had a beautiful penthouse suite overlooking Cruz Bay. The furnishings were well maintained, the bed was so comfortable, and the kitchen well-stocked. There was a bottle of rum and couple of cans of Coke for us when we arrived! There is also a Welcome Reception hosted by the resort every Monday at the bar next door. The resort has a pool and exercise equipment. The resort is close to restaurants, a grocery store, the ferry dock, and church. Excellent place!
This was our 4th time staying in the Blair’s condos. We have stayed in the studio, the one bedroom and the 3 bedroom depending on who was w us. The location is perfect. Beautiful view and easy to walk to town for restaurants, shopping, etc. Condos are well-appointed, staff is very friendly and helpful.
I can't imagine staying anywhere else on St. John if you want to be in the most convenient location. It's steps away from the passenger ferry, all the shops and restaurants of Cruz Bay, and every Jeep rental place you could want. Inside it's perfect. Our appliances were so new, I don't think they'd ever been used. The grounds are well-kept, nice pool, easy parking, nice elevators. If you're wanting a place that's all-inclusive with restaurants, nope, this ain't it; but, it's still closer to walk to amenities than most resorts that are all-inclusive.
We were right in the heart of St. John (Cruz Bay) and could walk to delicious restaurants and the dock for the ferry or a boat excursion! Our room was recently remodeled, gorgeous and accommodated 6 adults. Everything we needed was right in the room! There is a pool, hot tub, and underground parking. I would highly recommend the Grand Bay Resort!
We are not owners here, but able to rent from website. This is our second time staying here. Would be third, but Irma interrupted that reservation. Perfect location, accommodations, and views. Not the cheapest, but you are playing for location.
We stayed 6 nights in a Studio Suite on the first floor of Grande Bay. From the time we walked in and saw the view, we were in love. We had a full bathroom, a kitchenette with a hot plate, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, sink, blender and small refrigerator (everything we needed). On our balcony was an electric grill which we used to make bacon for breakfast and a steak for dinner one night. We had a very large living space with a washer/dryer and a tv, sofa, chair and queen size bed. We had more than enough room for the two of us. The suite was equipped with clean towels, sheets, dish towels and beach towels. There was also a locker filled with beach chairs and beach equipment and there were also coolers for our use. The resort has an ice machine in the garage and you can refill your gallons of water for less than a dollar. Our suite was clean and we were close to everything. We never rented a car because we were in walking distance to everything we needed and what we couldn’t get to by foot, we took a cab or a water taxi. We will definitely be back. It’s only been 10 days and I miss it already.
First off: Grande bay is not a hotel but more of a condo complex. (no daily cleanings...) But you get a full kitchen and washer and dryer to clean you clothes as you see fit, which I like. The location can't be beat, IF you want to be near Cruz Bay. I think its the shortest walk possible! The facilities were pretty good. They a smaller outdoor pool and a hot tub. They have a fitness center with enough weights to actually get a decent workout in. Free parking, use of the condo owners chairs towels coolers water floats....make it easy to just show up and have fun. Even being soooo close to Cruz Bay, noise was never an issue. (might be because a few of the nearbye restaurants and bars still have not re-opened yet) But we loved it and Will definitely go back again.
Where to start...this was not a resort but more like an apartment. The unit was spacious however not enough kitchen items if you want to cook. The pool is not a salt water pool and small. Hot tub did not work as it should. The biggest complaint is the office staff. Upon arrival no welcoming or hello. The staff member who takes you to your room was rude and of course if you say anything it's because she was having a bad day...Unacceptable in my opinion as a consumer! Office staff makes you feel like you are second class citizen or bothering them. Poor customer service. This was our first time to the island and the staff made it want to be our last. The true island people are wonderful but the mainlanders who have relocated there made it very clear they don't like tourist. Too many places to see in the world to be treated this poorly. I cannot recommend this place to stay but I would return to island on a cruise tour.
First of all, let’s be clear this is not a hotel. Nor is it a resort in the way many of us might think about a resort...there is a small pool, not on a beach, no food amenities, no spa, etc. You make your own bed, you make (and have to go to a food market to buy) your own coffee. You put your own trash out. You folds your towels. If you want clean everyday, you do your own wash. So just know this in advance. The location is good. Cruz Bay is fun and walkable with great restaurants and super easy access to the ferry. A real plus. The room felt dated. Clunky brown furniture. Thin shower curtain. No rugs, mediocre lighting. Lumpy pillows. Our ice maker didn’t work and there was no concern on the part of the staff about that. Which brings me to my biggest issue....the staff. Someone sits at a front desk but when you ask for things always directs you to people who seem to be employees of the condo management group. The are clearly not in the hospitality business. One individual was enthusiastic and upbeat. But Another acted as though you were interrupting her any time you had a question. No smile, no enthusiasm, a tone of voice that could make you think you were either stupid or an imposition. All in all, I would not recommend this place other than location. I am surprised it has gotten the reviews it has.
