I Went with my 2 reputed travel partners from USA. We were suppose to inspect the property as they were trying to promote kashmir and bring some foreign tourists to valley. So once we asked at the front desk that we are here to see the rooms and property there was no response and made us to wait and then we went again to ask if they could show us finally they showed us only 1 room it was nice no complaint with the room. Room size and bathroom was decent. Then we checked the whole property ourselves and none of the team members came with us to show it and explain about it as they were not interested to sell there property so we headed towards restaurant and ordered Chicken Grill sandwich with coffee. Beverage's came in 15 mints and trust me it took another 50 mints to them to get the grilled sandwich I wonder how much time I would take them to serve the main course. As we were short of time even after waiting 1 hr the sandwich didn't came so I went to restaurant manager and complained him about all things happened. I didn't heard a single apologies from any of them. Yeah tough they didn't took the bill of coffee and Diet Pepsi. We were there to check the property so we could send our guests there but after getting such kind of service I will never recommend anybody to go there. We straight headed to lalit and felt we are at right place. Hope someday you will improve your service's and customer relations.
Our sojourn at Vivanta by Taj, Dal View was most memorable in many ways. Not only is the hotel situated in an area, a city rather; safer than the Pentagon and surrounded by views of majestic high mountain ranges and of course the rather popular Dal Lake but its situated in what many refer to as the only “Paradise on earth” ! It began at the airport when a driver awaited our arrival in a classy white SUV. He led us on a journey through the intricately packed city of Srinagar to our destination. The most notable fact of the journey and the stay overall was the high military presence. Every 200 metres or so stood army personnel equipped with high class armour and guns. This reassuring act by the Indian government ensured that the destination is as safe as it could possibly be. The hotel itself was breathtaking. It began as we rolled up to the arrival pier where we had beautiful views of the Himalayan Mountain range on one side and the Dal lake on the other. As we walked in we were greeted by a series of hotel staff and led to the restaurant, Infinity. The food was outstanding as we feasted on a few local delicacies and sipped on traditional Kashmiri tea served in its true cultural essence. We were given two rooms that were outside the main building, we had one with a balcony view and one on the gardens of the hotel itself. Everything in the room was lovely, covered in parquet wood and large bathrooms embellished with forest essential toiletries. The charming sub 20 degrees Celsius atmosphere was refreshing. During the course of our stay we embarked on rather long (at times 2.5-3 hour) journeys to visit Sonmarg and Pehelgam. They were both worth the journey, places where numerous movies (particularly Bollywood movies) had been shot. The weather was nice with temperatures ranging below 17 degrees at the higher mountainous regions where we reached a point of 3200m above sea level. We went on horseback for most of the tours in the 2 places. Most days of our stay revolved around a long travel and a lovely Wazwan dinner but our fourth was the best, Diwali night. We started the day by visited Polo Market (to buy traditional handicraft goods and other dry fruits and essential oils produced in Kashmir). We then went on a Shikara ride over the Dal lake and visited the houseboats, unforgettable experiences. We headed back to the hotel where land based fireworks were lit and sparklers illuminated the cold nights sky. We feasted on a Diwali buffet set up by the hotel but the highlight was the end. The hotel has setup a traditional Wazwan dinner, paired with elegant copper Kashmiri crockery and cutlery. We had an array of over 11 dishes (of the 37 normally prepared). Each item was meticulously made and crafted by amazing chefs. It was an experience never to be forgotten ... This was our first and hopefully not final stay at Vivanta, a lovely hotel with some of the most hospitable staff ever. Special mention to : Imran (Front office manager), Shadab (Food and Beverage Director) for preparing one of our most delicately planned out stays and really making this stay truly unforgettable. Also to Javeed from the food and beverage team for his exceptional service throughout our stay. We shall be back soon !
all the restaurants in this very amazing property........ overlooking the lake are best place to dine in Srinagar..... the staff is very cordial ....I can't praise this Hotel enough . Nothing disappoints. If you are in the region book this hotel and eat here too , food and service excellent .....Enjoy ......
Good hotel ...a bit pricy but considering the locations and the security all is good...food is breakfast..views are fantastic ..only take rooms in the first floor and away from the reception...staff is great..
I stayed at Vivanta by Taj for 3 days in a first floor located premium room. The room was very comfortable with a huge bathroom and all the required amenities. The balcony had good views of the sunset and the gardens around the hotel were quite mesmerising. Also as it’s located on top of a hill which is a bit far from the main city you feel quite safe here. The staff are also very good and ready to serve you with a smile. However the only problem that we had was that their ACs were set to heating mode from outside the room and inspite of us repeatedly telling them to put it in cooling mode it always ended up in heated mode in the night which made sleeping difficult.
We checked into the Taj on Oct. 20, 2017. But Mother Nature was cruel. She induced us to go sightseeing and in the process we missed enjoying the ambience and beauty of Vivanta By Taj Dal View. The service was impeccably excellent and the view stupendously awesome. We would like to thank the gentleman who escorted us to our room and was kind enough to give us an upgrade. (Unfortunately, we don't remember his name). Nevertheless, if the Taj could provide us his name and telephone number, we would be glad to thank him for making our stay so memorable. The next time round we will be staying put to enjoy more of the Taj hospitality.
Would definitely recommend it. The food was awesome and the veiw was spectacular.. one side are the mountains and the other side is Dal lake .. scenic.. had a gr8 time. Must visit if u r in Srinagar. 😊
Stayed here for 3 nights in early September and would say what a lovely location overlooking Dal Lake. Rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated, with a huge bathroom. Service throughout the hotel was very good. Good choice for breakfast and dinner, and we really enjoyed the local vegetarian dishes. Only downside is that it is quite a way out from central Srinagar, and if you do not have your own car, you can be stuck. Suggest the hotel should provide shuttle service twice a day.
Amongst the best places to stay when travelling to Srinagar. Quiet away from city hustle with a huge hotel area premises. Numerous activities to do while in the hotel. Spa, indoor games and outdoor games makes it a perfect stay.
We stayed for a night in Oct 2017 at Taj and below is our review: PROS: 1. Excellent Location - Located in a hill top overlooking dal lake on one side and a mountain on the other. This is a plus for photographers to get an awesome view. Capture photos with mountainous backdrop during sunset and dal view backdrop during sunrise. 2. Rooms are huge, spacious, very clean, hygienic. Privacy is top notch! 3. The hotel has a small gym, indoor play area (Chess, Carrom), business center, lounge. 4. WiFi was good and was for 4 devices. CONS: 1. Dining needs a big change - When we have having breakfast, we could see staff sweeping the floor. This had to be done before breakfast timings begin, not when guests are having breakfast. 2. Dining floor was not clean and this again takes us to #1 of CONS. Neatness in dining is a big flaw. 3. None of the waiters or dining room staff reached out to us for breakfast. We had to wait for 5-7 minutes and call staff ourselves to order Masala dosa, coffee, tea, pancakes. It has to be the other way. I haven't seen this kind of lackadaisical behaviour in any of the other Taj properties that I have stayed (Taj Goa, Taj Coorg, Taj Ooty). We have even seen chefs come out and ask us about food quality and anything special if we wanted to have for breakfast/dinner. Dining service has always been top class at Taj, which is surely missing here. 4. Food was not at all good - Pan cake was very thick, tea was not good at all. We had ordered for ginger tea and the tea we got was not ginger tea, and the one we got was also not upto the mark. While rooms, stay is good, dining needs an overhaul. Starting from chef, service people, waiters, they need to be trained more to serve guests. People expect all these, especially when we pay 20K per night.
