The hotel is beautiful and offers great value for money but the breakfast they serve is pretty much the worst I have had ever. The room was nice, clean and spacious; we stayed in the sea view room on the top floor and loved it.

We stayed for two nights and had booked two rooms. The hotel is not very large and seem a bit old. It has a large restaurant and is right on the beach. The location makes up for many small shortcomings. Rooms are a bit tired and restaurant food ok. Excellent housekeeping staff and friendly reception team. Check-in and check out takes a bit of time, but we found that ok. Overall we had a good experience staying there and would stay again if we visit Unawatuna.

we stayed here for two nights. room was large but bathroom a little tired. Bed was huge and pillows very comfortable. we had a garden view on the ground floor, it was handy for the bar and restaurant. although in high season I suspect could be noisy. Breakfast was great lots of choice and coffee was good. the staff were attentive and helpful. Pool area was lovely too with a good card system for hire of pool towels, the red pool was spacious. The was one thing that I feel should change ... before we were free to leave the hotel having checked out, a staff member checked our mini bar we had to wait for the all clear, not great practice as I felt they didn't trust what I had said we had had from the mini bar. all in all a good larger hotel on the beach in a great setting.

love the setting of this hotel. and i love the beach so much. and their service also. rooms were comfortable and nice. i will definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend thos hotel to who loves the beach.thanks

Had a wonderful time. Excellent Service with extremely obliging and friendly staff. Nice food, long sandy beaches to enjoy, even to enjoy barbecue on the beach front. Two swimming pools with Jacuzzi included. Only complaint is the plates at the restart are too small ( starter type) and the hotel could do away with paper serviettes at the Restaurent replacing them with cotton ones. Happy hour at the bar from 7 - 9 (? ) forget the time, is another attraction for those visitor who like to relax with a drink or two. Ideal location and hotel facilities for the tourist who likes to enjoy sun and beaches combined. Unawatuna is a popular beach area where foreign tourists love

Nicely located hotel but the hotel next door plays very loud music past 1am in the morning. Calamander Unawatuna Beach Hotel unable to do anything about it. Hardly a relaxing place to stay! Sad bearing in mind the great beach and myriad of places around the hotel.

I stayed here for 5 nights recently with my family and really enjoyed the relaxing final leg of our trip around Sri Lanka. The hotel is directly on the beach and the 2 pools are great and we spent a lot of time enjoying them. There are plenty of activities and we enjoyed the morning yoga, although it was quite tough and also the water aerobics session. My daughter tried out snorkeling in the red pool, so there was plenty to keep us busy, particularly as Galle was such a disappointment. The rooms were very clean and the jacuzzi was a great bonus. I would definitely return to this hotel if in Sri Lanka again.

here are the points to be noted .. **Rooms are very very small and uncomfortable ..never expected such a condition from a Tourist Hotel. **Doors are old and locks are jammed.. ni sound proof.. some constructions were going on during our stay and couldnt even catch a good nap during day time.. **One of our mate had to stay outside more than 1 hours time since the door lock was jammed. **Staff are all most good but illliterate and less experienced.. dont know how to handle a large crowd.. **Management is the worst i guess, they do not know how to run this place properly.. beach is nice, but premises are untidey.. ** Foodss.. ohh god i never experienced such a buffet other than Soorya -Rekawa.. worst buffet.. no variety ,, they have only the Srilanakan food corner.. same items they are repeating for meals.. barelycan found some delisious food over their buffet. and also they are charging Rs130/ for Ice Crem Rs.450/- what .. a mess ***This s the first and last for my life time and also anyone who ask about Calamander..

Wouldn't call it any more than a three star hotel, pretty basic. Good beach. Staff very rude to my brother who accompanied me while waiting for an airport transfer, made him feel extremely unwelcome and forced me to PAY so that he could sit by the pool with me. Further to that, the following night a drunken guest was being very abusive to us in the bar, staff did nothing when i asked for security and watched as the man repeatedly approached us to hurl abuse. Totally unacceptable. DO NOT stay here, far better is HikkaTranz by Cinnamon down the road in Hikkaduwa

This is a beautiful beach hotel situated in an awesome location. Beach is clean. Food is plenty. Staff is friendly. Rooms are clean and spacious. Beds are comfy. No insects or mosquitos. Some board games like chess and daan table are available plus there is table tennis, badminton and a ring for basketball. We could also leisurely do some reading or some office/personal work at the many comfy chairs provided right next to the pub, without getting disturbed. There are a few Action stations at all meal times: hoppers, pittu, pasta, pizza, omelet, fruit platters, and a few more. Can recommend to anyone! Enjoy! :)
