The Club is a renovated Chinatown shophouse and it is quite modern and chic. The standard room is quite large and comfortable. It comes with a Nespresso machine and a complimentary minibar that is stocked with juices, soda pop, and water. However, the best feature is the bed! I never thought I would say the bed would be the center piece of any room, as usually beds and my back have issues! too soft, too hard, too lumpy, etc., – but the Club uses the famed “Hypnos” brand and WOW!!!! an incredible bed / mattress system that delivered exceptional comfort for the five nights that we stayed. The Club does have multiple restaurants and bars and the street itself is known to shut down to vehicular traffic on Fri / Sat evenings for “clubbing” on the weekends, so the streets can become a little noisy. The easy fix to this is to ask for a room in the back, which we did as suggested by reviews on Trip Advisor and sure enough, we had a sound sleep for our five nights including New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day! The staff were all extremely helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had an excellent stay. We would most definitely consider staying at the Club again, if we were to return to Singapore. It is centrally located, just outside the heart of Chinatown and is conveniently located near three (3) MRT stations.
My stay was overall nice as the hotel is new and the staff is attentive. The room is stylish and spacious, with breakfast included. However, for people who are on business trips that need to sleep early, the basement bar tends to have live music till midnight and it gets a bit noisy. But overall a cute boutique hotel, the location is very convenient and close to other business hubs.
I had a good time staying at this newly renovated boutique hotel. John and his staff are super attentive and helpful. There are two restaurants and 2 bars one located on the roof and one in the basement. I do love how the hotel is designed and the lay out of my room. Pretty worth staying for the price and breakfasts included. The only I would recommend people to watch out of is the bar tends to get really loud at night when there's live band going on, I stayed at the second floor and can still hear the music from the basement. Everything is great besides the occasional live jazz music at night.
I was so looking forward to staying at this boutique 1900's colonial heritage hotel in the middle of Chinatown, which I chose based on the many glowing TripAdvisor reviews. My husband, myself and our two teenage sons stayed in two rooms for two nights. There is no doubt it is in a great location, surrounded by restaurants, bars and hawker centres. And whilst we had a somewhat pleasant stay, there were a number of issues that detracted. To summarise: GOOD: Beautiful heritage building, great location, good-sized rooms, comfortable beds, quality bed linen, good shower, quality English toiletries, complimentary soft drinks & fruit juices in mini bar, free smartphone to use during stay, friendly & helpful staff, relaxing rooftop bar, breakfast included in room rate - excellent cooked breakfast option (eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes & baked beans - perfect if you love a big breakfast). NOT SO GOOD: My sons' twin room was MUCH nicer than the room my husband & I stayed in!! It was bigger, had far more windows with a lot more natural light and a view of a courtyard (we had one narrow window and no view). The bathroom was much bigger than ours, with a lot more windows & natural light AND a lovely bath. My sons were delighted, I was less so. On our first night, the air conditioning was almost non-existent - sleep was difficult as there were only quilts on the bed and no top sheets. I complained that day but they weren't able to do anything about till the next day. On the 2nd night there was a lot more air coming out of the ceiling vents but it was not chilled and still not conducive to sleeping under a quilt or getting a good night's sleep. I overheard another guest complain that their room was too warm. Interestingly, the corridor on our floor was noticeably cooler than our rooms and the hotel Reception area was much cooler. Breakfast options were very limited: 3 options which included the generous-portioned cooked breakfast or a small bowl of fresh fruit with flavoured yogurt on top. I chose the fruit as I don't like eggs and was surprised at how little there was to eat in comparison with the cooked breakfast option. I would have liked a piece of toast to fill me up but that wasn't on offer. And not everyone wants flavoured yoghurt with their fruit, it should be on the side. The capsule coffee machine did not have milk supplied, both mornings I had to ask for milk (why???). We were asked to nominate the time we would have breakfast - I got my fruit quickly, my sons waited 30 minutes for their cooked breakfast, my husband waited 45 minutes. Bad luck if we'd had plans that morning. Our sons' room had toiletries, ours didn't, I had to ask for them. I had to ask more than once for toilet rolls, they were small and we kept running out of loo paper. No soap is provided, even though there is a soap holder by the bathroom basin. Body wash is provided for the shower. Having stayed the previous 8 nights at the Park Regis, which provided plenty of soap, we luckily brought some with us. On day 2 at The Club, housekeeping cleaned our room and threw out our soap!!!! Yet the soap in our boys' bathroom was not touched! That was the last straw for me, I was really annoyed. Having paid a lot more per night to stay at The Club, I was wishing we were back at The Park Regis where the rooms were pleasantly cool and toiletries were plentiful.
Stayed here twice , in May 2017 and then again in June. Each time booking was a mess but eventually sorted . Unfortunately , this not a hotel for regular visitors as they wont give you a long term rate or any loyal customer benefit. Today while booking again, was politely declined, when asked a preferred room rate even after going out of the way to give new business. Great place for a random visit
On my 3 short days visit in singapore we could not in our best dreams to find such hotel like the club hotel. First we would like to thank John and his crew for a wonderful worm hostality. It felt like you are a part of a family. The filing that all your need will easely be solved. Allways with a smile allways the filling just ask and you will be served. Thank you John and our love to your crew. Arik Shorer❤
We were in Singapore for a pre cruise visit of a couple of days. The Club was well reviewed and nicely priced for Singapore. It was relatively close to many of the spots we wanted to visit but we still had to hail an Uber car to get to anything other than a restaurant. And there are a lot of restaurants nearby. First off, I think the room was quite average. Not having any experience in Singapore but having travels to many places in the world, there was neither charm, coziness, sophistication, nor amenities to speak of (see my pictures). Two minor problems with the room. There was no space for toiletries near the wash basin making it very inconvenient. The shower did not drain well and left a large puddle of water after each use. We did not use the provided phone since we had an international roaming plan with ATT. The service was, however, great. There’s really no front desk, but the people were very helpful loading our luggage into the tiny elevator. They also helps to organize limos from the airport and to the cruise terminal – all before we arrived. We had a large group and the hotel kindly provided late checkout for our room so that all in our party could dump their luggage and hang out until we could leave for the cruise ship. The best part was the included breakfast at the adjacent restaurant. It was prix fixe but provided everything we wanted. However, it is not some sumptuous everything you can imagine buffet as some hotels have. The Americano coffee was the best.
This place is awesome! Everyone is extremely nice and helpful. From the moment you walk in you're greeted by a warm smile and welcome. They show you up into your room and make sure you are taken care of. I did like the wifi phone for use around town so I didn't need a SIM card. The best kept secret is the B28 whiskey bar downstairs. It's not just any old whiskey bar. This bar has the best staff I have met at a bar in a long time. They are extremely friendly and Helmy sure knows his stuff. Nicole, the manager, makes sure everything is taken care of and any whiskey you could want is in stock. We missed the live music, but Nicole is a professional herself so I can only imagine the acts she has lined up. Kevin is a bit new but he will keep you entertained with his stories of Bali and his big smile. Definitely a must visit. Not to mention it's a place Anthony Bourdain visited not too long ago. Great hotel and great bar.
Unless gym is a very important amenity, you are looking for , this is a great choice. If you are looking for an overall experience rather than functional excellence, this is a great choice too. Definitely, an affordable luxury .
My wife and I stayed here at the beginning of February. The hotel was great, very stylish with well appointed, unique rooms. The employees we interacted with were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very well executed. As for the location, it could not be better. Not only are there many restaurants close, three of the best hawker centers (Chinatown Complex, Maxwell Street and Amoy) are just a few minutes walk as is Chinatown. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone wanting a unique stay in middle of the action.
