I had a really basic private room with no windows that was obscenely expensive for what it was, but hey, that's Singapore. Fortunately for me, they double booked it and ended up putting me up at a much nicer hotel at their own expense. Good on them for doing that. I've stayed in a lot of hostels over the years and I've seen many pathetic items passed off for complimentary breakfast but this place was a prize winner. White bread, soggy butter, and a bowl of hard candies. Yep, hard candies for breakfast. And no toaster to boot. Some hotels just don't care, but as long as it's clean and fairly comfortable, I can't complain too much.
This place is the worst kind of hostel anybody can imagine. They have prostitutes staying permanently there. Customers come in and out all the time. disgusting!! Reception, name Jeff, is so rude. And the worst part, they cheated me on the room charges for my stay! Refused to refund deposit that they promised to. DO NOT STAY HERE!
Stay just for one night, located quite far from the ferrer park mrt. Cheap rate. My room itself on 3rd floor, they also provide an elevator. Bunk bed type, and also share for the bathroom. Beside it, there is a restaurant, so it easy to find breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Last march, i arrived in SG from KL a bit earlier than my booking for my hostel... and it so happened that theres no one at the reception of that hostel. So lucky that Lofi Inn staff allowed me to stay even if its already 12midnight. Stayed at a 4female bunkbed room. Wifi connection was fast. i left my phone in the reception and the staff gave it back to me.. they are very kind.
We booked for 4 nights at this place. When we arrived to the hostel, they didn't know anything about our reservation. after 30 min. of waiting time, the receptionist is showing us up to the room, that we where supposed to sleep in. In the room there is 4 foreigners who work in the country, using all 12 beds in the dormitory. They will not allow us to sleep in the room, so we have to wait another 30 min before being dragged into another tiny room. The room is filled with clothes from somebody slepping there before us, and the receptionist tells us to throw away the clothes. after another 30 min, we are being redirected to another room. 5 sqm in total, where the aircondition is not working. The toilets are smelling of pee, and everything is really dirty. This is a workers hostel for foreigners trying to earn money, and sleep cheap.
i'd love this hostel, very comfortable for a backpacker and cheap.. the location is near from mrt station (lavender), bus stop, and food court.. you just need walk to go to mustafa center.. next time i'll book this hostel when i go to sg ..
we have visited this hostel in 2015, price wise it was cheap but stay was not comfortable, the bunk beds make noises and in breakfast they provide only jam and butter toast. Shared bathrooms were very small, overall it is less than average to stay there..
I research all the places I stay in exhaustively, so the state of this hostel took me by surprise. LoFi Inn got a 7++ average rating across all booking and review sites, so I thought I had landed a great deal. The reception area was nice, if not a little humid -- it felt more like a fan cooling the reception area instead of an airconditioner -- but considering we only paid $11 per person to stay in, I wasn't about to complain. The reception staff was also very nice and accommodating, and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately, niceness and pleasantries can also do so much against poorly maintained facilities. As soon as you walk past reception to access the elevators, you'll be struck with the smell of dirty laundry water. Several washers can be found in a room adjacent to the elevator access area, but again -- $11 per person per night -- so I thought the dirty laundry smell was negligible. I draw the line at having to dust off crumbs or unidentifiable flecks off what should've been a freshly-made bed. One can only imagine when the last time the beds and bedrooms were given a thorough cleaning. We were also told that the airconditioner in the room we were staying in was leaking, so we were advised against using one of the upper bunk where the airconditioner was leaking over. The worst part were the lockers inside our room. I checked 3 lockers in our room and found dust and DEAD BABY COCKROACHES inside. It looked like they had been there for a while. My partner, on the other hand, checked another locker, cleared it off the several hangers that were there, and found LIVE BABY COCKROACHES in said locker instead. Did I mention that the leaking airconditioner barely cooled the room? It felt more like someone was breathing warm air into the space. Very pitiful conditions. I didn't have the heart to check the bathrooms for myself, but my partner said that the toilet seats were already dislodged from the toilet seats. And given everything I described above, you can only imagine how "clean" the bathrooms were. I travel frequently both for work and leisure so when traveling on a budget, I'm often flexible and try to keep an open-mind. But this is the first time I bolted a hostel just 10 minutes after checking in, never mind that our overnight stay had been fully paid for in advance. There's no use putting yourself through all the grief LoFi Inn will give you when you check in, despite the SG$11 price point. Thankfully we found a hostel a few doors down for $16 per person per night which offered a significant upgrade in terms of cleanliness and comfort. Post-script: having spoken with a few people about this hostel, I was informed there was a recent change in management. The people who used to run Blue Penguin hostel (a few doors down) are now running LoFi Inn, which is why older reviews would say that LoFi Inn is a great, budget-friendly place, while the newer reviews are saying "DON'T." Don't even. I'm not the type to discredit anyone, but while new management doesn't sort out its issues or up its standards for cleanliness and maintenance, LoFi Inn's gonna die a natural (quick) death. The only thing good about this place is their tall Malay reception staff who really tries despite everything going against their establishment. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. There are better options out there.
I was backpacking with my friends and stay here for sleep. Good points: cheap (around IDR100,000 or SGD11 per bed per night per person), near to MRT, good receptionist and open 24 hours and they have good wifi. Bad points: very small and smelly bathroom, poor bed (there's bug bed), and didn't have locker. Overall: I think the facilities based on room rates. But the bathroom's hygine is intolerable.
My fiance and I stayed in a 12 bed mixed dorm so weren't expecting much except when we arrived we couldn't tell which bed was free due to other guests' belongings resting everywhere. They crammed too many beds in a small room with poor air circulation. The bathrooms were also falling apart and I couldn't turn around to flush the toilet without stepping out of the cubicle first. The staff were great when they were around and there are a lot of places to grab a bite to eat any time of day or night. Perhaps their other rooms are better but would advise a solo female traveller to stay in the female shared dorm.
