Commodore Suites is a great hotel in a good location with an affordable price. It is located right above a local (and very popular for not only groceries, but also for hot foods, coffee, and socialization). It is right around the corner from the beach. The rooms are modern and very clean. The staff is professional, friendly, and very helpful.
We selected this location for a one-night visit on the island. We arrived at the structure and saw that there was a grocery store underneath and the fast food restaurant attached to the end. There was an elevator that went up to the second floor and the set of stairs to the left of the elevator. When reaching the second floor there is a reception desk with receptionist there to greet guest. The receptionist, Deanna was very cordial and helpful when getting us checked in and holding our bags. This would be the first level of the commodore suites of two levels. There were about 12 to 16 suites situated on this level with doors facing the hallway. There were chairs sitting in this area for guests to use. The rooms were functional with mediocre furniture that showed some wear and tear. The bathroom area up here to be renovated and featured a handheld shower spray and a rainfall main spray. There is a small safe in the room along with a few hangers and an ironing board. There are appliances in this small room such as an oven, stove, microwave, refrigerator and a coffee maker. This location was very active with vehicle traffic and pedestrian traffic. At some point, the noise was capable of being heard inside the room. This room is centrally located to some of the bars and restaurants that are local in this area. This location offers the ability to walk without having to pay for a taxi to get to any other basic locations.
Upon arrival & check in at Commodore Suites, the staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating! Not only is the room spacious but very comfortable. They made sure the room was nice, clean, and cool when checked in. The front desk also helped us arrange an electric car rental to explore the island. The room had beautiful views of the beach, ocean, and sailboats. Every morning we went downstairs to Double Dutch Cafe for a nice breakfast (chia seed pudding, a smoothie, and a delicious cup of coffee). During the day we rented beach towels and took a short walk to the beach. At night we walked to some of the local restaurants. This hotel is conveniently located to all our St. Maarten needs! Looking forward to staying here again!!
This is my favourite hotel in the Caribbean. It is surrounded by yachts, nightlife and views. Rooms are large, very very clean and modern and staff are the best. When I am away from home, I want my privacy and comfort. TV is somewhat difficult to operate without a PhD in rocket science but staff will sort it out for you. But hey...who watches the tube anymore? And now they have new electric cars that cost half that of the gas wrecks on the island. Top marks! And below they have a cafe and a large supermarket that is open nearly all hours with all kinds of produce.
The room is spacious with a small cooking setup equipped with coffee maker, electric kettle, oven, stove, refrigerator, cooking pots, utensils etc. The bed is clean & comfortable. The room, cooking space & toilet was clean. Our check-in & check-out experience was quick. Front desk staffs are friendly. The superstore is just one level down from the hotel where we bought water & breakfast items. Only one thing they missed - complementary water bottles were not in the room, gave us when asked. 2 coffee pods given on the first day & they don’t refill coffee everyday, need to buy one pod for a dollar. This hotel is surrounded by plenty of good dining options & very close to the beach.
Normally hotels include a small supermarket in their service product portfolio, But this hotel in Simpson Bay developed above a supermarket. And it now boasts a great cafe bar as well as a running buffet where guests can either select breakfast, lunch or dinner. The supermarket is called Market Garden and as its name suggests, it stocks locally grown produce and fruit. The hotel is designed with style and I have decided not to stay anywhere else on my regular visits to the island. Vieews from hotel room windows of the marina and the Caribbean Sea are stunning. Cable TV is a bit tricky but receptionist was quick to give me a simple one minute course that even my teddybear could understand. Great hotel - close to nightlife without the noise - I recommend it. btw bathrooms are really cool
This is our third stay at this hotel and they didn't disappoint. My husband and I were just returning from a hectic job and the room was refreshingly inviting, the bed was very comfortable, the noise level from outside was nearly nil and amenities were good. We rested and returned home more rejuvenated. I forgot to mention that the receptionist was professional and very friendly. Anticipating my next stay...
First of all - I truly understand that the island is under mass destruction and I'm sure they are doing the best they can being one of the only hotels open but... housekeeping let's get on the ball. No elevator so be prepared to carry your bags up steps. All rooms are "Suites" which mean they have a full size fridge/stove so you can cook your own meals. (All accessories are includes.) But you had better wash them before using. The desk chair in my room was missing half of the cushion, TV counter had hand prints and "sticky" stuff everywhere. Lounge chair was stained and torn. Safe is left on the closed floor so be ready to get on all fours if you want to use it and hope nobody comes in and just picks it up and carry it away. When I opened up a drawer in the bathroom it contained soiled towels from another guest visit. Toilet seat rocked and rolled while the paper dispenser sat on the floor. They did have lovely bath amenities - that is my positive about the property. Sorry Commodore.
I stayed there after Hurricane Irma while down checking on my own damaged place. The staff there, especially Suzie at the front desk were absolutely outstanding to deal with. The room was clean and tidy everyday and the the air conditioning worked so well I believe icicles were hanging from the ceiling. Simpson Bay is definitely the island hot spot now and this hotel is in the center of it. I would absolutely stay there again.
The staff at the hotel is so friendly and welcoming, truly excellent customer service. I stayed with my sister for 4 nights and we had nothing to complain about. The location is also very central, and there's free parking right in front of the hotel. Lots of restaurants close by and even a supermarket right below the hotel, very convenient. It's very close to the airport as well, and there's a small beach right behind the hotel.
