The hotel is in a good location, walking distance to Shekou Ferry terminal and Metro "Shekou port", 5 minutes. Hotel is on a busy street that can be noisy during peak hours. The staff is polite and professional although not fluent in English but they try and definitely assist you. My room was a bit outdated but clean and spacious, bathroom was well equipped and a wide range of amenities were provided. Wi-Fi and drinking available. The breakfast buffet was simple but the food was well prepared and available in large quantity. If you are staying around the port for business, I definitely recommend it.
Normally I pay for this hotel in advance by credit card through the Agoda booking agency, but this time the hotel insisted on payment when I arrived because apparently there is some new connection with another booking agency. It took weeks and several fraught phone calls to get the hotel to confirm they would accept my American Express charge card on arrival. When I did arrive quite late at 10pm on a Friday night there seemed to be no problem and the reception gave me a receipt for CNY 2600 for four nights. This was good value for a non-smoking suite with excellent facilities, although it needed an air freshener sprayed around the door just inside, as someone had obviously been smoking there beforehand. The problem was when I checked out Tuesday morning, as the reception tried to charge me twice, then told me the first charge had been a deposit! A deposit of CNY 500 might be acceptable, but not CNY 2600. I had to loudly demand cancellation of the original deposit before I was charged CNY 2494. I shall examine my charge card statement with some trepidation. This whole new payment system is alarming, unusual and unnecessary. The hotel should go back to its old system of taking payments.
And so, having stayed in my carrier in a load of different levels of hotels and inn's in Mainland China, and especially, in Shekou, I had no too big expectations from this hotel, since many times before nearby Nanhai hotel was hotel I stayed in Nanhai, and because this one from outside looked not that attractive. And this is really a mistake in China, to judge hotel from outside. It was just so pleasant surprise since a check in - friendly & nice staff, fast check in, we got keys to the rooms, and up we went. Great clean room (clean - in China, with smelly carpets are such an important thing!), bright, and we have a room facing residential area - also very very quiet. Breakfast choice not too big, but OK, and then you have a LOCATION, such a great location, few minutes and you have 2 supermarkets to buy food - 10 minutes and all the vibrant area with restaurants in Sea World, and then around 10 minutes slow walk to Shekou port. Absolutely great experience!
Don't expect your self to be pampered. Very well behaved staff and everyone speaks English. Rooms are spacious. Bathrooms are spacious but cleaning services must be improved. Found a lot of mould in the corners. Walking distance to the Ferry pier and the Hilton. Seaworld is around the corner as well. Don't expect a lavish spread for the breakfast buffet.
Clean room, spacious, nice view, friendly staff, close to Seaworld plaza, fast wifi. We got a free upgrade to a deluxe room so I'm not sure what the regular price is but I'm sure all rooms are just as clean and nice.
My stay in a deluxe suite from February 9th-13th was most enjoyable and represented excellent value. The hotel is well located, close to Shekou Port for the Hong Kong Macao ferry, Shenzhen Metro and Sea World. There are first class stores around the corner selling imported American foodstuffs, as well as two restaurants opposite the hotel. The bathroom just needed a little bit more cleaning to get rid of some mould, and a leaking can in the fridge needed mopping up, but I feel that in general the hotel's cleanliness has definitely been improving. A taxi to/from Shenzhen airport should cost no more than CNY 80, but may take 45 minutes in the rush hour; firmly dismiss taxi touts when arriving at the airport.
The first room I was offered reeked of stale cigarettes. It seems to me that either the windows had not been opened since the last guests stayed there, or it had not been cleaned well. The 'upgraded' room I was given smelt of mould, the windows were closed and I was unable to escape what was a strong, and I assume unhealthy, odour. When I showered I could see that there was visible mould growing on the shower curtains. A good dose of disinfectant, exit mould and some better ventilation would surely improve what would otherwise be a decent hotel. The included breakfast was definitely not something to get excited about. By the time booking fees are included it is not real cheap. I wouldn't expect 5 star luxury for under 400RMB but I think basic cleanliness, health and hygiene should not be too much to ask.
The Hotel is located very close to Shekou ferry terminal with ferrys reaching HongKong, HongKong airport, Zhuhai, Macau and others. At the ferry terminal the metro is located as well. The staff was Quick, effective but missed the smile, and the feeling that they where there for your sake. We first got a smoking room that smelled of smoke, but we got it changed without any problem, the non smoker room smelled of mould though better than the smoking, but you got used to the smell after 15 min. The rooms are big, clean and very comfortable, with a large very nice shower, we got a room close to a very trafficated road, and i could immagin that if you are staying closer to the ground floor that could be a problem for light sleeper, the other site of the Hotel should be better. The view from the terrace was amazing. out on Shenzhen, shekou and the harbor. though there was nothing to sit on, on our floor. In the area there are restaurents both chinese and western and western supermarket with imported food, pricy but if you live in shenzhen you are willing to pay. the breakfast was a mix of chinese and western and the coffee very good. You can feel that this Hotel has been very great for 5 years ago and are a bit worn out. but still ok for the value.
We stayed at this hotel for one night either side of a visit to hong kong. The hotel is located within walking distance to Shekou ferry, bus, train, metro stations. We arrived from the airport in Shenzhen so got the metro straight here. Then got the metro the following day to Hong Kong, the staff at the hotel were very helpful and kept some of our luggage for us while we went to HK. The hotel is near Sea World which has a square with western style restaurants around it, thought if you carry on a bit further there are more restaurants that seem to be mainly for ex-pats that are cheaper. The hotel must have been really nice when it first opened but it is a little dated now still it does offer good value. The breakfast was a little odd with a seemingly random assortment of foods on offer still it was in wth the room price and i ate a bit of pretty much everything. All in all a good hotel if your visiting shenzhen and traveling to or from hong kong
Arrived late from HK Airport by ferry and stayed one night in this hotel. Everything was OK. Breakfast space in the lobby is very limited, so go downstairs in the morning as soon as possible to grab the food.
