I THOUGHT I booked a room at the Holiday Inn, but turns out this is not up to the usual HI standard. It's an old re-branded hotel in need of serious renovation. It's located on the outskirts of the city, not ideal or convenient at all. Taxi's were difficult to find in the early morning and late at night. The staff were less than friendly or helpful when I asked about changing rooms due to a bad odor and leaking A/C and then when I asked about getting more pillows it was like "YOU WANT WHAT!?". The amenities are non-existent and internet is very bad. Really, in 2017? Anyway, on a final note, they barely speak any English, so be prepared!! I stayed 2 nights and then moved a block over to a newer, nicer and MUCH cheaper hotel on Hong Gui Lu. I suggest you do the same.
I have been staying at Holiday Inn Express Shenzhen Luohu several times already. Every year I probably stay at this establishment about 3 times (2 or more nights each time). It just keep improving!! I want to congratulate them for their great effort in order to offer guest the highest quality of stay. Specially all the staffs!! Improvements since my last visit: 1) WiFi is fast and easy to log in. Signal is strong through out the hotel. Excellent Job!!! 2) Breakfast. Now we have egg of our choice. A staff will prepare it for you as ordered. You can get sunny side up, scrambled or omelette. Just ask!! 3) Taxi. Now staff will call Taxi for you if there are none at the Taxi station. Now there are still some more issues that can use some attention: 1) Air Conditioning is centralized. You can't control the temperature you need. I visited now on July and it was hot. This is compensated by asking for a fan. But it would be nice if I can control the temperature I need. 2) Ice Bucket. This is super minor issue. But I found out that they only have 4 ice bucket for the entire hotel. I don't think ice bucket cost a fortune. So please get more ice bucket. (I had to use a bowl for ice... weird). 3) Having a small gym with 1 or 2 running machine and 1 weight training would be excellent addition!! I believe this establishment will keep improving and I really enjoy my every stay!! I highly recommend this hotel for anyone on business.
I am a member of IHG for a long time and a travel consultant. I have stated in many IHG Hotel all over the world and this one is below standard! The room is Ok but a little run down. Bathroom a little old and could do with better cleaning. Breakfast is adequate with good selection. Restsurant staff unfriendly and not helpful. One male server even stopping me taking photo! Front desk staff excellent when we were checking in.
I am a IHG member and this hotel is unfortunately in the list of properties which I would strike off / not recommend. On the review here it goes: 1. Rooms: Upto the Express standard barring the Air conditioning it's poor and despite several complaints no help. I was offered another room but it appears no better. Internet Connectivity & breakfast selection are the only saviours to earn the average rating. 2. Staff: RUDE: I was asked to REPORT before 7.00 pm if I intend to change the room. I arrived at 10.00 pm and was told by the staff at duty that we are 100% sold out and cannot change the room. Moreover she was advised by her day dur staff that my cutoff limit to change the room was 8.00pm. However when I insisted was given a room which was no better so didnt change. 3. Location: The Metro station is good 10 mins plus walk but the market is close by and you can find decent eating places. Also a Mac Donald outlet is very close. Overall disappointed.
Since it was a Holiday Inn Express expectations were low and they were met. Small rooms, bare, bones service and minimal lobby. Two positives though, the price and the included breakfast. Not on a main thorough-fare so make sure your taxi driver knows the location before jumping in the cab.
This is the 1st time ever that I give a hotel, 'not-sure' on air-conditioning. On the 1st nite, it had air-con, had a gd sleep after a tiring day. Also, a gd start. 2nd nite, it was so hot that I began to hv headache, ask the service pple and they say now this period of time, they hv already switched to heater, OMG! It's only cool outside and they on heater, the service guy say, if hot, open the window. I had to do so if I don't want to die of heat-stroke, after opening the window, I had to tolerate the noise outside including traffic which was never ending. Requested to switch room, on that nite, got air-con but toilet stinks! Another sleepless nite!! The next day, I had to ask them to clean-up the toilet thoroughly which they really did a gd job. What's next?! No air-con on that day again, thought with higher floors, it'll be quieter, how wrong I am... it was not only filled with louder traffic noises but this time with pple talking and laughing at the TOP of their voices, yep! Another sleepless nite again... till the end of my stay, I didn't really enjoy my stay at this hotel. Breakfast was cold and choices were very limited. The only reason I'm giving it an average is cos of its staff, who try to resolve any issue you might encounter, except for air-con. They also provide various types of pillows for you to choose. Self-service laundry at 3rd floor is quite ok and price of RMB of 30/- for washing and another 30/- for drying is still okay. Room size is okay but sound proof between rooms can be improved. I knew exactly when the person staying next door came bk, bathe and goes to the toilet. This is kinda...
The room temp is always 23°-24° and outside room is 16°. Sweating whole night , called the service guy and they said nothing can do since it centralized. Only way to get cold is open a small 100mm window gap to get cold air from outside. Turning off the aircond as the answer
Visits several times this hotel for convenience. It is small and old. clean is acceptable considering budget, but not great when you can see mould in the bathroom. The room is obviously small as again budget. I didn't try the breakfast there. The staff are nice thou. In short, it is a choice if you consider budget, but you should not expect more. My rating consider the pricing and what you get but if I have the choice, I rather enjoy a better living.
I stayed there during my trip and I can recommend this Hotel. Very nice and clean, breakfast was good. Outside is a McDonalds and a lot of other restaurants. A big Mall is also nearby and 5 minutes is a great Spa.
The Good: 1. Location - Near Hong Kong and China's Luohu Control Point, which is very convenient. Grand Theatre 大劇院 Metro Station is a 15-minute walk from the hotel. 2. Room - Functional and simple. Ideal for business and no-frills travellers. However, it's showing signs of aging (wallpapers peeling off, aircon vents surrounded by water marks, etc...). 3. Rate - Reasonably-priced, budget friendly hotel. 4. Staff - Polite, friendly, accommodating, and helpful, special thanks to Mr. Lu of the front office team for assisting me with flawless check in. The Bad: I had a rather pleasant experience staying in this particular HIE so I can't comment on the bad things. Neither Good Nor Bad: 1. Breakfast - Breakfast selection was ok, not too much to choose from but gets the jobs done, although oily. Best of all, it's included already in the room charge. The Verdict: This is a great place to stay when you're after a quick getaway from Hong Kong.
