During check-in, the front desk staff photocopied my driver’s license. I immediately raised an objection, but the staff insisted that this was required by the Georgia state government. I am very concerned about the potential leakage of my personal information. I have stayed at many hotels in the U.S. and this is the first time I have ever been required to have my driver’s license photocopied, which made me extremely uncomfortable.
The hotel staff then stated that if I did not allow my driver’s license to be photocopied, I would not be allowed to check in, and that the reservation was non-refundable. Under pressure, and feeling that my privacy was not being respected, I chose not to stay at the hotel and instead booked another hotel.
