We booked an air-conditioned 2 bedroom suite for 4 adults with a terrace. the little apartment had a bedroom, a living area and kitchen space with a bed along the wall and a loft bed area that was open to the living area. While the apartment could sleep several people, there was no privacy for any of us. There was one AC unit in the living area that didn't cool the loft above and only cooled the bedroom slightly if you left the bedroom door open. The bathroom was up steep winding stairs and was really hot with no air or window. It was useless to have the terrace area because it was not at all private, other people used the table in front of our room, it was very hot and worst of all it smelled strongly of urine. The location was ok in terms of seeing the Oia sunset--you had less distance to fight your way through the crowds which was good but you could not see the sunset from the terrace area. NOTE: THE SUNSET IS COMPLETELY OVERATED AND KIND OF A WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY. This room is managed along with many other rooms by a central office in town. Sometimes they were helpful, sometimes, not. Not terribly efficient but we found them to be ok--unlike many guests we saw screaming in the office for a variety of complaints. In terms of getting to the room there were steep stairs but you will encounter that anytime you want to stay in a cave house in Santorini. We didn't think this one was too far down the cliff so that part was ok. This IS NOT for older people or anyone with any type of walking instability The stairs are very narrow and very steep and in August it is very hot.
We loved this place! The views were fantastic! We did have a really hard time finding it though! It isn't really on Main Street since the apartment is built right into the cliff and there are no signs! We stopped and asked four people in town using the name VIP Suites without finding it. Finally we found the Best Western tucked into the maze of the cliffs and asked at their desk and discovered that they could check us in. It was well worth the work to find! Although the bathroom was tiny, the kitchen, bedrooms, and main room were all very adequate. We enjoyed the optional European breakfast the following morning for a reasonable price.
The VIPsuites was very much as the pictures described. The best thing about the hotel was the balcony with the breathtaking view of the sea and sunset. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable for the short time necessary to stay with all the sights. The staff was very helpful with arrangements and town information. They even introduced us to some wonderful local sights. The only down side was the incredible number of steps one had to navigate in order to get anywhere. It is not an area where anyone with physical limitations should stay
VIP Suites is located on the cliffs of Oia, Santorini. The views from the suites are absolutely spectacular - they are in perfect position for the famous sunsets of Oia. The room we had was larger than we expected - we had a suite complete with a mini kitchen, common area and bedroom. All the rooms have balcony views, though most of the rooms seemed smaller than ours. The pool was not large, but it was perfect for the hot sun. What was confusing was that VIP Suites does not have a lobby - you have to check in at the tourist information center, located near the bus stop in Oia's center. The hotel does not tell you this before you arrive, so it seems like someone is trying to scam you, but it really is the normal procedure. You then have to wait for someone to guide you to you room. The hotel is in a good location except for the fact that you do have to walk a decent ways up hill to get to Oia center, but the view from your room will really make the trip worthwhile. The rooms were clean and were equipped with a small television, air conditioning and refrigerator.
Nice location with Caldera view. Will definitely stay here again.
