Far from main attractions, you will certainly need to rent a car or spend an amount with taxis, Sheraton has few reasons for you to choose if you are not in a business trip. But if you work for Iberia, Alitalia, amongst other crew members, it could be a good option. Bar has live music to get together.
When you think of ways to make you feel miserable, this hotel has do a good job (sarcasm). The reception feels that is making you a favor. The concierge is almost his name. I ask for the book claim and it was an old notebook. With no review at all. The smallest room in town. Noisy. Dirty. Be careful with the parking lot it will charge you $50 usd, per night!!! Totally not recommended. Worst experience in town.
I've stayed at the Sheraton for a quick business trip. Check in - fairly easy as I booked an extra night since my flight arrived early and I wanted to be guaranteed a room when I got there. I was upgraded to the tower room Room - spacious however I was expecting the room to be updated. The decor is outdated and it's definitely reflected in the fixtures. Meals - Room service came on time. I only ordered breakfast two days. Each time they forgot something. The first time they sorted it out and the second time I didn't even bother with calling for the milk as I was running late. We had drinks at the bar one night and it was a bit pricy. Other info - as I was only there a short time we took the tour bus with sky tram option to see the most out of the city. Highly recommend as you do see lots of different areas you wouldn't normal venture to. You can book right at the hotel and one of the stops is directly in front. Taxis are also more expensive when booked with the hotel.
1. When I checked in I gave the front office staff my SPG number. I never said I was platinum nor implied it, they misread it and said because I was platinum I could be upgraded and use the lounge on the 21st floor. When I got the bill it had an outrageous club access fee This was actually the hotels mistake not mine 2. The room I paid for was city view room. See below. The room I got actually faced the mountains. I mentioned this to front staff but they said no upgrade was available. I wasn't in fact asking to be upgraded but moved to a city view room .. That which I paid for I was told nothing was available. At check out I mentioned this and the Manager on duty said "why did you not raise this earlier" 3. I rang to reception after checking into my room and as we were delayed 3 hours from our baggage being missing I asked for two complementary drink vouchers (just as a good will gesture) I was told that I could use the club lounge on 21st floor, again the hotels mistake because they assumed I was a platinum member 4. The fee charged for the club lounge use was excessive at 40,672 pesos approximately $62 US for just 3 drinks and some canapés ? I paid this despite disputing with the manager that in fact I was invited to the lounge earlier and was told it was complementary . To which he replied "did you sign for it ? Then you have to pay ". 5. The Night manager next morning kept asking me who told me I could use the club lounge ? I do not feel I must remember or ask the names of every employee I spoke to just so later I can prove what they said in justifying my case. The night manager essentially implied I lied saying "he trusts his employees word" but in fact never asked any of his staff he just stared at me. 1 King Flexible Rate Classic Cityview Non-smoking Newly Renovated Comfortable Work Area Complimentary Low Bandwidth I have stayed at this property before and never had any issues. I have also recommended this property to others in the past. I feel I was treated with disrespect. Never have I had a manager of any hotel suggest to me I was lying I sincerely hope you will regard this as constructive criticism
The good news is the rooms are spacious and clean. This is supposed to be a high class hotel (at world class prices) so little things annoyed me. First, the wifi throughout the hotel is slow. As I was there for work, getting stuff done took much longer than it should have. Second, small things in the room like the sliding bathroom door that doesn't stay closed and always slides open, should have been caught. Third, prices in the hotel bar are outrageous (not a term I use lightly) - drinks are more expensive here than in a hotel bar in North America. Fourth, even though we called front desk and signed up for the be green program and front desk agreed when we checked out, they told us we had to wait until housekeeping found some certificate that it was supposed to have given us each day. After waiting for 15 minutes at check out, after it was clear that front desk was just waiting for us to give up on the point, we finally gave up and checked out. A minor was irritating issue - don't pretend you have such a program when you don't. Fifth, that lovely pool you see in the pictures has been under repair for a very long time and is not available for use apparently. Sixth, how hard is it to design a hotel door that doesn't slam shut and wake up your neighbours when you leave your room? Every morning you get woken up by your neighbours leaving their rooms.
This place is very nice , the hotel and the city . The hotel is clean, beautiful but few people speak English only concierge. The city is safe , beautiful, the people are polite and the city in general are cheaper. In top the hotel there is a ski place ( restaurant ) where you can taste a delicious drinks 6:pm until 9:pm ( free) , with snakes buffet .
This hotel was very nice. It is on an excellent location which made it easy to get around. All of the staff was friendly and very attentive to our needs. As I was leaving the hotel one day I lost one of my gloves. I must have driven them crazy looking for my glove! The maid on our floor(7), took extra time to look for it even checking under furniture for it! Hats off to her! I never found my glove ;-( Also, Constanca Tabor on the 7th floor lounge was awesome! She was very attentive to our needs and also very friendly . She is the kind of person that gives a hotel that extra touch of making their guests feel at home. The only reason I did not give the hotel 5 stars is because they started some work on our floor, closed the lounge( we only knew because Constanca told us. No one else notified us. The floor in the hall was covered in plastic and the area was actually blocked off. Since we were out sightseeing all day it didn't affect us, but it still took away from the experience. We had really nice views from our room, although you could hear the street noise. All in all, I would recommend this hotel!!
I've been to the hotel last month, and the infrastructure is pretty good. All the facilities are very impressive for a hotel that has more then 15 years. But the service I believe needs to improve a little bit. some of the employees are very friendly but others need some recycling.
The Sheraton here is inferior to others I have stayed in around the world. The FOH staff provide good service but have awful communication with them and management. To get room service I needed to go down stairs to pay for it and the manager would not allow a credit to be extended to the room. Simple tasks such as ordering food at the restaurant is slow and hampered by rules and management interaction. Great housekeeping team and gym with a wet and dry sauna. Latam airlines put me here after overbooking my flight. Told a snack was available as part of the compensation, reception gave me a voucher for a snack but the restaurant managers said it was not valid. Sounds petty but the past 38 hours has just being about me getting screwed over by the airline and then the hotel. At one point when I was talking to the reception another guest just jumped in front of me with his own complaint and the reception spoke to that person first because he was angrier and ruder, I guess the moral of the story here is that to get good service you must be rude and loud.
For the people that has gold status, this is more relevant to you. I have both Marriott and Starwood Gold status. With Marriott you get upgrade, lounge access, early check in and free breakfast. With Sheraton, you basically don't get anything mentioned above. Will stay at Marriott property next time when I am in Santiago. However, you do get free bottle water, but that's about it. Hotel's outside pool and jacuzzi is closed. Gym is tiny. For the same cost, I rather stay at Marriott where they actually take care of gold status. Room is average, clean, not too spacious but acceptable.
