Reasonable hotel overall 3.5/4 stars: Pros: - Scenic location at the base of San Christobal Hill with views of the mountains in the distance - Conference centre with multiple function rooms - Amazingly comfortable beds! - Indoor and outdoor pools (although the indoor pool was closed for maintenance when we visited) - Modern facilities with a cool sports bar - Free access to sauna/steam rooms Cons: - Relatively overpriced ~$180per night - Rooms are relatively small and cramped - Small gym and the whole hotel can feel very busy and cramped during peak times - Buffet breakfast had limited choices - basic continental buffet but nowhere near a 5 star selection - Restaurants and cafes are minimum 10-15 minutes walk away
The Sheraton Santiago looks unspectacular from the outside, but it is by far my favorite Sheraton. The rooms are very large (including the bathroom) and have wonderful views of the city. I was here towards the very end of their winter and you could the snow-capped mountain tops in the backdrop of the city. In addition, the lounge also has a very special view of the city and you are able to go onto the balcony to experience it. If I ever return to Santiago I will definitely stay here for the wonderful views.
Arranged transportation in a private car with hotel for $30,000 pesos(US$46). That was good - driver was waiting for me and got me to the hotel in 20 min. Check in was efficient and I was allowed access to my room at 10 am, which was nice. Hotel is far from most things. Restaurant is nice, excellent wait service but expensive. Bar was ok but expensive (US$5 for a cup of coffee, no refill). I didn't sign up for breakfast but restaurant allows guest to get coffee to go for free, which was very nice. Very loud music one evening in the bar but after I complained to the manager, the music promptly stopped. So ask for a room away from the atrium for peace. Was there for a medium sized conference (1500 people) but hotel facilities could not hold it well. Nearest mall is about 25 min walk, subway station about 20 min. One nice restaurant (Coco) about 10 min. 30 min walk to the funicular to go up to top of Metropolitan Park for a beautiful view of the city. That's pretty much it. Some great restaurants in the neighborhood by the entrance of the funicular (Bellavista neighborhood). For the rest you need a cab. Room was of medium size but bathroom was very small. Shower stall was very tight, no bath tub. Toiletries were fine but there was no facial tissue. TP of poor quality. Towels were old and thin. They offered two free bottles of water everyday but housekeeping did not replenish them so I had to call front desk everyday about it. They sometimes "forgot" to replenish towels, bath gel and hand towels as well. "Mini bar" consists of a small fridge with 4 cans of coke in it. On my second eve there I noticed one was missing - had to call front desk to report so I was always checking for missing things in my luggage whenever I returned to the room. Pretty frustrating. Bed was comfortable, nice pillows and sheets. Good AC. Safe in the room but no iron, slippers, robes. Nice size TV with some international channels. Work station, free wifi with good connection, uncomfortable chaise. Nice pool area. Very slow check out, staff person seemed untrained. Got another car service to the airport, this time cheaper (don't know why), that worked out well. Concierge was helpful. If you want to stay close to the main attractions the city offers, this is not the place.
The Sheraton Santiago is a good location, rooms are small but comfortable but its the service and food that needs attention. I went to the bar asked what the bar man recommended and he said the ribs, so I went for them they looked amazing but upon cutting into them they where not cooked all the way through it seemed like they where cooked under a grill for a while and then sent out. The next night returning to the hotel from work i decided to stop at the bar and get some wings and a beer, it took over an hour for the wings to arrive I was very disappointed as it was meant to be a quick stop at the bar then an early night which in the end wasn't the case.
Really great place. Beautiful and cozy rooms with an amazing view The pool indoor pool was perfect. Warm, deep end , lots of room for training. The bar had some really great pizza that they made vegan friendly. Bike rentals made getting around the city fun! Only down side: anytime I took a hot shower the security would come running up because it set off the fire alarm.
I found some things I did not thought they were for a 5 star hotel, but they quickly solved my problem by changing me to another room. Great service, and the bell girl, Ariane, super nice! The breakfast... delicious!
I traveled to Santiago for a second time on business, again for two weeks, and once again really loved my stay at the Sheraton. I reaffirm that I would happily recommend it to anyone as a great place to stay. My experience this time round was just as delightful as my prior stay... Location: - The location was perfect for our purposes. It was close enough to walk to our office as well as many shops/restaurants. It is also conveniently located close to the large park behind the hotel, which allows for some more leisure/sporting activities time permitting. Room: - The room was perfect, very comfortable and quiet (SPG on the 6th floor). I had a city facing room, and loved the view, so I strongly recommend this side (as opposed to the pool facing side). Breakfast: - The breakfast was free as part of the stay, and the food was excellent. A good range of food and always super fresh and tasty. Amenities: - The amenities are excellent. The gym is well appointed and was a pleasure to use. The machines are great. They also have bicycles to rent, which I strongly recommend, as it was fantastic to discover a bit of Santiago by cycling along the canal as well as cycling up the hill in the park behind the hotel (quite steep, but very rewarding). Service: - The service was excellent. All staff were very friendly and attentive and all too happy to assist. General: - I made sure to use their green option - which provides you with a $5 discount for each day that you don't have your room cleaned. It really isn't necessary to have it cleaned each and every day - so after a few days - you can use your collection of discounts to get a free meal at the lobby bar! Once again, I would strongly recommend this hotel.
Far from main attractions, you will certainly need to rent a car or spend an amount with taxis, Sheraton has few reasons for you to choose if you are not in a business trip. But if you work for Iberia, Alitalia, amongst other crew members, it could be a good option. Bar has live music to get together.
When you think of ways to make you feel miserable, this hotel has do a good job (sarcasm). The reception feels that is making you a favor. The concierge is almost his name. I ask for the book claim and it was an old notebook. With no review at all. The smallest room in town. Noisy. Dirty. Be careful with the parking lot it will charge you $50 usd, per night!!! Totally not recommended. Worst experience in town.
I've stayed at the Sheraton for a quick business trip. Check in - fairly easy as I booked an extra night since my flight arrived early and I wanted to be guaranteed a room when I got there. I was upgraded to the tower room Room - spacious however I was expecting the room to be updated. The decor is outdated and it's definitely reflected in the fixtures. Meals - Room service came on time. I only ordered breakfast two days. Each time they forgot something. The first time they sorted it out and the second time I didn't even bother with calling for the milk as I was running late. We had drinks at the bar one night and it was a bit pricy. Other info - as I was only there a short time we took the tour bus with sky tram option to see the most out of the city. Highly recommend as you do see lots of different areas you wouldn't normal venture to. You can book right at the hotel and one of the stops is directly in front. Taxis are also more expensive when booked with the hotel.
