I was very pleased to stay in this casita. I had wondered what it would be like to stay on someone's property and I was very, very pleased. Maria greeted us as we drove in and presented us with a little gift of bread. How welcoming and warm to get that kind of greeting. She gave us a little tour of the place and showed us how things worked and little quirks about locking up for the night, etc. I just loved this. Saved us so much time trying to search around and wondering how to do stuff. Thank you, Maria. At first the casita seemed small, but as soon as we unpacked and settled in, we found that it was just perfect. We had lots of activities planned, so we weren't there much, but when we were, we felt so cozy and comfortable. The bathroom was very nice, the kitchen was more than we needed, the parking was very nice and the bed was extra cozy. yay! It was the little touches that made everything very special. Lots of thought has gone into each little item and simple things like extention cords and available plugs ins as well as filtered water in the fridge, just to name a few. It was a wonderful stay and I expect to be back in the future. I would highly recommend staying in this casita!!!
I give this two-room plus bath casita a 5. It has a very good, wall mounted AC/heat unit, and ceiling fans with lights in both rooms. The kitchen is great. It has two electric burners for its stove top. The oven is a toaster/hot-air fryer unit, and handled all of my baking needs just fine. The microwave is a larger unit, and top notch. The blender is an Oster, and did its job to make my salsa verde a winner. Lots of utensils, bowls, spices, glasses, plates, etc. The refrigerator is great, and the freezer makes fill-the-tray cubes very quickly.
The shower has very good pressure, and a rainfall shower head. The toilet has a soft close seat. Extra towels are onsite.
Lighting throughout the two rooms is good.
The queen bed is very comfortable. Linens were clean and crisp. Adequate blankets are provided.
Our host, Belén, was amazing! She brought us a banana nut bread that was great. When I told her how much we liked it, she brought us another one. She also drove us to The Plaza, and picked us up. Very cool.
This unit has a locking security door. The key is on the wall. The touch code, door lock works well.
A standard washer and dryer are in another onsite building, but very close.
Be aware: If you are driving a large vehicle, you may have a time of getting easily in and out of this property. A large mirror helps you see if vehicles are coming down the street. As long as you're used to your vehicle you should be OK.
We'd definitely stay with Belén, again.
A comfortable and fully equipped place for a couple in Santa Fe
My wife and I chose Catalina's Casita because it looked like a nice place to stay near the home of our daughter, who lives in Santa Fe's nearby western residential area. It turned out to be a wonderfully quiet and welcoming place in the household compound of a gracious and welcoming family. The location is good - probably a 5 minute drive from Santa' Fe's Central Plaza, and within walking distance of the bike and walking trail that follows the Santa Fe River into town (and out of town, for pleasant and relaxing walks or rides). A great food co-op is just a mile or so away on West Alameda, the main road into central Santa Fe. The "casita" itself was totally comfortable and super pleasant - there was a generous bedroom with a great queen bed, good lighting, and an adjoining bath and shower. The kitchen was fully equipped (a pleasant surprise among the sort of two-person rentals we usually seek out), clean and modern. The delightful hostess, Maria Belen, stopped by when we arrived, made sure we had everything we needed, and shared some spices with us for trying out New Mexican recipes (tried a few, but not nearly enough). Importantly in summer, when we were there, the "casita" had excellent air conditioning and was perfectly comfortable the whole time. We slept like rocks in the quiet, enjoyed having the kitchen for both meal preparation and for working on kitchen table using the good internet, and appreciated the resident family's welcoming hospitality. It was a good stay, and we hope to return when we come back to Santa Fe.
