it's really hard to turn on and turn off the water in the shower room.
Uncomfortable beds and bedding, reasonably close to boardwalk and downtown amenities. No frills, basic room and service for an OK price.
Ok, we stayed on Memorial Day weekend, so prices were jacked way up for all hotels. We were looking for a reasonable place to sleep. Hotel is older and could use some maintenance and minor repairs. One of the hotel side doors remained unlocked, requiring no key card. But the bed was comfortable, room was clean, enough towels, and the gentleman at the front desk was unfailingly kind, helpful, and friendly. So for a reasonable stay, not bad at all. Starbucks a few blocks away, walking distance to Boardwalk and downtown if you like to walk. Which we do.
Really nice staff, definitely very attentive. My issue is not nor will ever be with the people who work there. But the hotel itself is just awful. Definitely the cheapest in Santa Cruz, you get what you pay for, but you would think that paying $140 would at least get you a sense of safety and comfortability, not a room with obvious unrepaired and poorly repaired damages, a congregation of shady characters outside your bottom floor window, as well as some really uncomfortable bed sheets and blankets. This place is perfect if you’re just staying one night, as it is the cheapest you’ll find in Santa Cruz, however it is rightfully so.
It's clean and staff was friendly; however, the shower heads are really low, so a person 5'6" or 1.68m has to bend their knees to get under the flow of water, which can be annoying. Otherwise, it's a good deal for the money.
Wish to have better room facilities and clean towels.
ok. It had the basics. The room was neat and all appliances worked. The air conditioner was efficient but loud.
Great low budget hotel in a great spot near downtown and boatdwalk
The shower pan was grungy, time to replace. The towels were horrendous, very thin and stained. Breakfast was toast and cereal.
Affordable hotel close to the center of the city. Staff are nice. Breakfast is ok but in a tight space.
I hadn't seen an old cathode-ray picture tube television set in decades --a trip down memory lane. 15-minute urban adventure-stroll to the boardwalk. Clean and affordable!
Everything was okay outdated television air conditioner is very loud. The bedding was fresh even though we always bring our own. Small but okay for the price.
Bed, matrix, lamp, TV, carpet, chair, desk, and AC are like from 30 years ago from thief store. Bad smell in the room. Towel and chair are dirty.
Besides the dirty buckling floor that turned our feet black, there were dead bugs in the bathroom and under the bed. Stains on the mattress and burn holes in the sheets. Ew. The beds were not the greatest. The hall carpet is stained everywhere and smells bad. The continental breakfast was weak... toast, cereal and oatmeal. The oj was pretty much water. It was a last minute hotel on a busy holiday weekend so I didn't have many options. They did have a swimming pool that looked refreshing! Btw top floors have a balcony!! Location is on ocean street close to boardwalk.
I had a very nice time on my trip The room and grounds were clean and the location was very convenient
The hotel is not clean. They asked 100 USD Cash Deposit or 100 USD charge to my credit card. The place is unpleasant to stay for families. I would prefer somewhere else next time.
