Feels like a treehouse! Creek & waterwheel are beautiful.

Loved happy hour, a chance for mingling with other guests

Property is run down. Room in need of refurbishing, remodeling.

The outdoor areas are so cute (even with the drought) and they were doing some maintenance construction projects while we were there. I love all the unique rooms to choose from! So charming even if they are showing wear and tear.

The staff was very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.

This place is a distance from any shops, cafes, shopping. It is located in a neighborhood, on a busy street. I dragged my luggage up two flights of outdoor stairs, then down the stairs and up a flight of stairs to my room. Which had shabby blinds, one fell when I tried to lower it. this is not a destination inn.

It was NOT a Bed & Breakfast property. I expected breakfast in bed for my Special Birthday, and was TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. And it wasn’t even a buffet as we were told. Barely a continental. The bedroom door didn’t work well, and neither did the bathroom window close. We will not be returning.

Our stay was awesome, staff was great, breakfast was amazing!

Superb location for literary inspiration. The entire property was just lovely. Wish I could have stayed longer but I will be back!

beautiful peaceful quaint oasis with friendly staff and comfortable beds

EXCEPTIONAL boutique inn. My husband and I had no idea what to expect but was pleased with The Artist Retreat. The room was private yet open and airy. The one complaint my husband had was the cobwebs especially over the bathtub area. The staff were all friendly and helpful more like a family feel. My only complaint is every morning we were there some sort of egg variation was provided for breakfast. I don't eat eggs. An alternate protein would have made breakfast A One in my book. We shall return!

The Babbling Brook Inn is a cute B & B, and comfortable enough, but the staff ruins it. It is severely understaffed, and it forever to check in. The purgatory of check-in was exasperated by the incompetent staff person, Chris. Though a one night stay cost over $300, they will charge a resort fee of $20 per night. Upon check-in Chris, charged me $72 dollars for the resort fee, which too all evening to get reversed - he did not know how to reverse charges on a credit card. He had to call the manager to ask how. And this took me repeatedly asking for it. Once the credit card charges were reversed, I paid for the resort fee in cash, but Chris did not know how to print a receipt. I gave him ten minutes to get it done. Went back to the front desk, only to find he hadn't done it yet. I gave him until before dinner. Then, finally after we got back after dinner, he was able to print a simple receipt. Later that evening, though it is in the middle of the summer, we found that fireplace on. We called the front desk to learn how to turn it off. Chris told us to turn the thermometer to the far left - we tried, but the thermometer was broken. He said he would come in ten minutes to fix it, but never came. The facilities are cute and located near downtown, so the Inn has potential, but customer service needs to be improved, especially when they charge over $300 per night. When checking out, I told the other staff person about our experience, but they did not offer us any compensation.

I'd been meaning to try the Babbling Brook Inn since my son took his first tour of UC Santa Cruz. I finally got my chance! What a cozy, fun place to stay, and very near campus. Breakfasts were wonderful, as were the cookies at the end of the day. The rooms were not new, but were comfortable and clean and well decorated. I will definitely be back (for the next four years!)

Babbling Brook is a delightful destination in the heart of Santa Cruz, California. Each room is unique and well appointed with amenities. The staff is gracious and well informed. Food was fresh and tasty. The gardens were restful and lovely. My only concern is the constant odor of mold, which is no doubt due to it's location, but never the less needs to be tended to in the very near future.

We had the best time here, the staff were very friendly and helpful. My daughter and I enjoyed both the excellent breakfast and evening gatherings, and met some great people

this place is a gem in Santa Cruz if you get a chance book this place

Came here with my wife. Had a great time in nearby Santa Cruz downtown, and boardwalk (walking distance, but driving is better). Good breakfast, you can take it to your room or eat there.

Arrived to be greeted by friendly staff. Rooms were really nice. Beds were comfy. Only slight downside is road noise but hard to fault otherwise

Everything was perfect. The inn was so relaxing and peaceful.

Cute place within walking distance of boardwalk, downtown core, beach. Rooms are nicely decorated, very comfortable, inviting and clean. The Inn is tucked off a busy street so we could hear the traffic from the our room (Fern Grotto) closer to the street if our door was open but it didn't bother us (and don't remember hearing it with a closed door). Staff is genuinely helpful and the breakfast was scrumptious! A great place to come back to and stay a bit.
