Maui Sands Resort & Indoor Waterpark

My grandkids had lots of fun. They were excited having their own sleep in area.

Should have paid more to stay at Kalahari. Water slides closed on Friday night due to short staffed lifeguards. Water was cold, hot tub was luke warm. Buffet breakfast was the worst I've ever had. No coffee, no hot chocolate, no tea, no omelette station as advertised. Did I mention no coffee? Bar service was slow and most specials were not available. The room is dated but clean. Except for the towel that had a dried blood stain on it. Staff were ok.

Went to Cedar Point and stayed at Maui Sands. Great rate.

The staff was great but the pictures that are online are outdated and misleading. There are hotels that are closer to family friendly events at the same rate.

Very dirty Broken ice machine Tub did not drain

Things are old and beat up but the water park is fun and the room was ok.

The employees were kind and respectful but the lighting in the room was terrible as an employee had to replace the one lamp bulb with a 100 watt light bulb. There was no safe in the room for to store our valuebables as with any resort we stayed at and there were holes in the lamp shades. Major improvements are needed at this place. Start off with that and maybe even an outdoor pool?

I was worried when I read the reviews. Everything was great though. The staff was nice and helpful and the room was very clean. I'm very weird about staying in certain hotels but this is one I felt comfortable in. The only negative thing I have to say is the baby pools were closed. Which was not due to staff. Great place. Would return.

This hotel is in desperate need of some TLC. It's just not nice... at all. The rooms are dingy, the common areas are grimy, the towels are thin and old, the AC unit in our room required coaxing to work, the in-house breakfast (not free, mind you) was beyond gross. We stayed for 2 nights for a lacrosse tournament and came back from a day of 4 sweaty games to find our room hadn't been serviced. The wet, used towels we left in the morning were still piled in the tub. I picked up the phone to call the front desk and it was dead. So I went down to the front desk and was cheerfully told "Oh, if you want clean towels you have to leave your dirty ones out in the hall so we know you want new ones!" Umm..... WHAT? First off, how would I ever know that? Second, I saw no piles of towels in any hallway anywhere, so I don't think any guest knew this, and finally... eeew! Really? The front desk crew was very friendly and accommodating. I think they know this place is a hot mess and they do what they can to make guests as comfortable as possible within the constraints of running an old, dirty facility that appears to be understaffed and poorly maintained. The kids from our lacrosse team who used the indoor waterpark said it was fun, I never went in to check out the cleanliness situation in there because frankly, at that point, ignorance was bliss. With several other properties in the area offering indoor waterparks, I would choose ANY of them over this property. Not a value at ANY price.

We were really excited for our little kids. We have a 15yr, 8yr, and an almost 2yr old. The biggest one got bored quickly. Perfect location for the smaller 2 kids though....except that all of the smaller kid areas of the waterpark were closed off the whole time we were there(2 days).

Room is good but blankets and other accessories could be improved. Water park - water is tad cold and need to increase temperature and they did not have enough towels on hand. Bathrooms needs lot of improvements

Love the decor and the toiletries. We always have a clean room and the kids love the water park

Minimal staff available. They were not smiley or pleasant to deal with. Back hall smelled like cigarette smoke. Room was not terribly clean.

The only positives were that the rooms were clean and comfortable. Here are the negatives... 1) There was a FIRE in the basement. Someone knocked on our door, but there was no one there. I thought prank. 30 minutes later, I go to my car and there is a party in the parking lot. I asked why and they said that there is a fire. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Where were the alarms? 2) Good luck finding your way around this place. Leave bread crumbs. It is two buildings toggled together. The signs are a joke. It was actually easier to go out of the building and walk outside to the lobby. 3) If you want to eat here, please don't try. We tried to call ahead to order our food. No one answered. We then made the treck to the main area to find out that they were just sitting around. We were the only order in for Pizza and chicken tenders (PS, they asked for tip first. My bad, say you will tip with cash once food arrives). 30 minutes later, my pizza and chicken WINGS not tenders arrives. 20 more minutes later for correction. Mean while, another lady is waiting for a toss salad. There were 3 people working this area. It took 50 minutes to get out the food and this poor woman's premade salad. 4) Life guards are a joke. My kid was being held under by some basketball playing kids. The guard was picking the red off his life saving device and did not even notice. I had to jump in and get the kids off. The water was so dirty that it stung my face and you could not see the bottom.

Great location. Pool had perfect temperature. Our three year old loved it here!

Lucky for me I only had to stay here for a day. I checked in at 6pm the check in process was fast and they assign us the room which was facing to the conference room. The smell in the room was soo horrid that i had to go back to the lobby and request another room. The attendent at the lobby was very nice and assigned us another room. This room I must agree was much better then the previous room but was not cleaned by the staff there were towels on the floor in the bathroom and the shampoo bottel from the person staying pervious night was in the bathtub. I went back to the lobby and requested another room, the staff again was very nice and assigned another room which smelled very bad then i realized that the rooms that are not facing to an open windows are probably the worst room to be in so i went back to the staff and requested another room and finally got a room that was reasonable to stay for a night.

I was VERY DISAPPOINTED in this facility. Check-in was at 4 pm and they closed the water park at 7 pm.....re- open water park when it's time to check out at 11am. The game room was expensive....1.00 per game yet most games just took your money without even letting you play. We were told that we could have spent time in the water park after we checked out but who wants to put their small children in a vehicle with wet hair!!!! For the amount of money we spent we could have had a nice trip to Tennessee or Great Wolf Lodge!!!!

It wasn't the best experience, well the line was backed up so before we got to check in we waited a whole hour before we was able to get into our room. After we got into our room there wasn't enough wash clothes and the water park was fine until some of the rides wasnt even operating.

Refrigerator in room had not been cleaned. Found two ice cream cones melted and dried to inside of fridge. Must have been there over a week. Room was set up to sleep 6 with two bunk beds but only 4 towels in room. Breakfast no longer included an $9.00 seems a bit pricey per person. Pack up and head down to Perkins.

Quick one night stay on my trip to boston from Chicago. good locaton just near the highway. indoor pool is plus if we have time. Hotel is average on their amenities. If you stay with their full price, that is little high but if you have some discounts, I would recommend.

I apologize that your stay wasn't what we usually offer. We did have issues with the heaters in the waterpark and our kitchen staff that weekend. We are working on hiring the right employees to get things done.
