I stayed here for a two night weekend and we had a great time. Hotel was clean, comfortable and very well located. 7 minute waling distance to Parroquia San Miguel Arcangel. Staff was very friendly and the hotel had free parking.
Good value hotel located within walking distance from the Jardin with comfortable shoes. Very close to the Rosewood Hotel and across the street from Hecho in Mexico Restaurant. A/C is okay (not great, but decent for SMA). Staff was wonderful and very helpful (just enough English spoken ... and there's always Google Translate). Rooms were a little dated but our room was very clean. Do not expect a mid-level U.S. hotel. This is Mexico so your expectations have to be realistic.
I am giving this a combined average rating of 3. The good-The grounds are extensive for SMA and well maintained with a nice sized swimming pool and chaise lounges. It is across the street for a wonderful restaurant-Hecho En Mexico. The not so good-The hotel is old and dated. The room was large and newly painted, but the bathroom was pretty bad with tiles missing and some mold.
Charming colonial style hotel with easy parking. High ceilings and spacious rooms provided a cool refuge in the heat of the day. This is a very picturesque inn with beautifully manicured grounds. We were at meetings in town both days, so were unable to take advantage of the pool or restaurant. San Miguel can be trying to get around at times with the traffic; the location was perfect for getting in and out of town. We were delighted with our stay at Posada de la Aldea and would recommend it to travellers as an excellent choice in San Miguel.
I went there a couple of years ago, but the experience was great, I had the opportunity to travel on time, that beautiful "convento" made my days great, the weather, the food and the experience provided me the opportunity to recommend the town and the hotel. Go there you won´t regret.
I stayed at this lovely spot for 8 nights. I was attending an art workshop. The hotel is ideally situated off a busy street, so my room was quiet. The grounds are lovely, and provided ideal spots to paint as a group. The hotel is not new, but it is clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are a la carte, except on weekends or unless there is a large tour group. My room did not have a safe, but the front desk was happy to keep my passport/valuables. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the main square, and directly across the street from the Institute de Allende. There is an excellent restaurant across the street, as well as farmacias and wine shops. This was an ideal place for me and my fellow painters to plunk down for a week.
I brought a group of 5 artists here to stay for the week and we all loved it. The grounds are huge and removed from the busy streets...like a sanctuary. The rooms are basic but have everything you need. The hotel has common spaces to be used if you have a group. The staff are accommodating and kind. So much charm and character here I don’t have room to describe.
My first time in this quaint town with an art retreat. It’s a retirement town therefore all expats are seniors. Love the art scene here very much, very high caliber of talented artists, especially visits to private studio/gallery/home of local artists. I stay at hotel Posada de La Aldea, clean, comfortable large courtyard, decent wifi. It’s now the middle of winter, great shower with hot water. Its restaurant offers decent breakbeat, not included in rates. Light lunch is ok too. It’s location might be an issue if you don’t normally walk much because it’s on the edge of center town. But taxi is cheap here. Otherwise I’d stay here again.
This is definitely an older hotel, and for some that might not be an attraction. Although the hotel property is on san Antonio right across from the Hecho en Mexico restaurant and the Institute Allende, (and therefore situated on one of the busiest streets in SMA), we found our room to be very quiet, partially because the property is HUGE and the residences are far back from the street, and partially because the walls are several feet thick. Too bad the windows are not equally thick because someone in San Miguel tends to light off really loud fireworks - often late at night, or early in the morning, or both - the kind that sound like a cannon going off. Price for a room with 2 double beds is reasonable - about $100 Canadian per night, including the taxes. The beds (ours at least) were almost comically firm. Honestly, we sat on the beds and laughed out loud. As a midnight shift millwright I often napped on a wooden picnic table with a rolled up pair of coveralls for a pillow, a practice that prepared me for the beds at the Posada de la Aldea. We did get a really good night's sleep, however, apart from the early morning fireworks, and experienced no next-day stiffness or problems so I'm thinking that a firmer mattress might not be a bad idea. No dedicated hotel shuttle service as such to the airports - but the Baijigo shuttle service came right onto the property parking lot to pick us up.
The best things about this hotel are the central location within walking distance of the major historical sites, and the outdoor pool. Its clean and its staff are courteous. However its badly in need of an upgrade. The lobby is set back over a long concrete courtyard that is inaccessible to cars, wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers. You have to drag wheeled luggage over it to get to a taxi. When we ran out of bottled water to brush our teeth the concierge made us pay for it. Overall a forgettable hotel.
