Definitely unique. However, no elevators makes access difficult. Breakfast was coffee in room or an extra charge for what other hotels normally provide. The room needed repairs to wallpaper and other minor repairs to the decor. However, loved the bidet.

I have stayed at the Madonna Inn several times and it has always been a pleasure. The staff is wonderful, the vibe of the property is serene and welcoming, and it's obvious there is a lot of love and history here. The pool is relaxing, the food is delicious, the grounds are well maintained and landscaped. Highly recommend for anyone traveling to SLO!

First the lady gave me the wrong room, after we drove hours with little kids I didn’t realize it was the wrong room, unpacked then had do to back down to the lobby and get the correct room.. she wasn’t really apologetic about it. then we went to dinner there and the food was amazing, however there was one waitress who was extremely rude, made us feel very unwelcome. I chose this place to celebrate finishing chemo and was very disappointed

I had a wonderful stay at the hotel last week! The location was incredibly convenient, close to major attractions and public transport. The Madonna Inn - The Pony Room

Stayed in the Pony Room. It’s not as elaborately kitschy as other rooms but still fun. The room is pretty large & comfortable. The resort itself with the restaurants, bar, pool & other activities you don’t really have to leave. The Madonna Inn is a fun weekend getaway.

Early check-in made this stat even better. Recommend you do a pre-check-in which starts at noon. This means they notify you when your room is available and sometimes it already is. Ours was available at 1. Staff very helpful. Food was good.

Kitschy Wonderland,!

It had always been my dream to stay at the Madonna Inn & it didn't disappoint! Our room was wondering kitschy and garishly colored. After looking extensively at the different themes, we opted for one of the ones with it's own viewing tower. The view was cool from the little tower (though the temperature was not!), the spiral staircase was whimsical, and the light filtering down in the morning was quite lovely. Other noteworthy things: - the shower pressure was great - there was a bidet built into the toilet (I was too scared to use it, though) - the room did smell a bit like cleaning products, which on the one hand is good, but on the other was occasionally overwhelming. - robes were super soft. - towels were pretty rough/utilitarian - bed was ok, but not great. - overhead lighting was super bright - some way on a dimmer, but not all, and the swimming was inconsistent. - oddly, the lighting near the bed was controlled near the door, which was inconvenient. - the hallway outside the rooms was a bit dingy. - conditioner bottle was missing the internal straw thing that allowed you to pump it. - there was parking right near our room, which was on the 4th floor. - down in the main building, the gift shops were full of fun things to look at & buy. - the restaurants had a lot on offer & delicious steaks. - the drinks at the bar were pretty heavy pours. Overall, a really fun experience!

We heard about Madonna Inn from many friends and since we were going to be in the area we decided to spend 2 nights. As a family we prefer hotels that are newer and no carpet but still wanted to try Madonna Inn. We got a last minute deal and took it. The uniqueness of the rooms are interesting, we got a double queen bed which was perfect. We loved the pool, my kids used the tennis courts as well. We ate out - found some nice places in downtown SLO and got to visit the Thursday farmers market. we would stay here again but pick a room with no carpet ( just our preference).
