The pictures of the property are beautiful but definitely just for marketing to travelers. The property seemed to be in the process of rehab. Unfinished design. Dirty decorative pillows on the bed (DISGUSTING). Dusty side tables near bed, dusty wardrobe. Dingy floors. Unusable chair, broken leg. Terrible lighting. !!!WAS NOT ALLOWED TO FLUSH TOILET PAPER AND TRASH CAN HAD NO LID!!! The experience was so disturbing, I canceled the remainder of my stay the following morning after “checking in” and booked elsewhere. Note: I was never officially checked in but was given the room key by someone who turned out to be the maintenance guy. Never able to get in contact with the property manager - the travel agency customer service contacted them over seven times with no response until an email 4 days later. Aside from the maintenance guy, there was NEVER ANYONE AT THE DESK -hence why they list “limited” availability for checkin... WOW. Never again. 0 out of 10. Wasted potential.

The building is centuries old, so I did expect some oddities,

Historic property in old san juan. Nice for a stay but building is definitely old

The location of the hotel was great and accessible to pretty much everything. The room was spacious, beautiful. Elena wa great and accommodated us and our needs to perfection.

I had a beautiful time .the hotel has a nice historic story and the room I stayed in was big clean and comfortable.the staff was very attending.

Very cool and unique hotel with a great location. Looks to be under construction still since the ballroom bar was closed. The AC worked great

Located in the heart of Old San Juan. Can walk to everything. Close to restaurants. Historical building with unique decor. Staff were friendly and helpful. If you want to stay in Old San Juan to experience the city, Monastery Art Suites is perfect. Stayed in penthouse on 4th floor which was spacious. No elevator but I pack light and I am fit. Room was warmer than I liked but I left halogen lights on by accident and the square footage of floor/ceiling is a lot to cool so I understand. 60" ish TV's in each bedroom and living room with Apple TV; Bring your login for Apps or Apple ID. Full Kitchen. Fast WiFi.

Hotel and rooms were poorly kept. The attached photos speak for themselves. Managements response was disappointing. Unfortunately the money we spent for this hotel stay was lost and we found another accommodations just minutes after arriving.

The Hotel was a little difficult to find at first. Once we located it the staff was very friendly. They stored our luggage and gave us directions where to find some of the tourist attractions. When the room was ready we got a call informing us of it. They also gave directions where to find good food.

This is an update to a review I wrote previously. This is by far one of the most accommodating hotels I have ever been to! I highly recommend the location and would return. Pradine

The staff and hotel owner are very nice and responsive. When I arrived l was first in a large room great balcony, full sized fridge with microwave and kitchen sink. The bathroom's glass shower door had a crack in it and since I have recently (on vacation elsewhere) had a glass bathroom door come crashing down on me, I asked to be moved. They accommodated on the next day, the new room was nice but not as spacious or with a city view like the first room (bummer but I had been warned). The bed was comfy, I missed the balcony though. The owner promised a 10 percent discount for The trouble so I will update if/when that happens. The location is very safe, with equal access to the city's historic sites, close to a supermarket, and plenty of restaurants bars and clubs. I recommend the hotel and the area-- as I was able to also get a good night's' asleep on the comfy beds since it is not right on the party street. Expect to see guards on the block since we are near a government residence. Also, there are lots of stairs, if you have mobility needs this may not be the place for you. I didn't see an elevator but I also didn't ask. The stairs are gorgeous!

I don't think I've slept that well anywhere than my own bed. The location is perfect.

Somewhat hard to find with a non-descript secure access door. But once you find it, you are in a beautiful historic Inn with 10 rooms and a ballroom. The common areas are not air conditioned but the rooms are. My room was large, modern and very clean. The only downsides are the lack of an elevator (six flights of marble steps to my room) and being required to put toilet paper in a trash can due to the old sewage plumbing. The supply plumbing is modern with good pressure and lots of hot water. If you like quiet historic inns with a unique decor and modern conveniences (other than the toilet paper) at a reasonable cost, you will enjoy this place.

We have been to this part of Old San Juan on every trip we've been to SJ. We show it to friends and family. Just down hill from El Morro and close to dinning and shopping. And such history. Even though we had the tropical rains we still took a walk. The hotel itself was a treat. Our room with two balconies and overlooking Cristo Chapel was decorated like Alice in Wonderland. Useable kitchen and huge bathroom were add on benefits.

Staff is wonderful and very helpful even before I arrived. They answered any questions I had and offer assistance with transportation from the airport. The rooms were nicely decorated and were very spacious. (Pardon my alien pillow) There are a few flights of stairs to get to the rooms but that's it's just part of the experience in staying in an old building.

We stayed for 2 nights in Old San Juan and this hotel is walking distance to everything. Hip decorations and the suite was huge! The king bed was comfy and the room was very clean. The only thing that could have been better was the water got too hot/too cold in the shower.

The only thing lacking is a porter to hump suitcases up the stairs (no elevator). TB
