Nice Place, Horrible Communication

Pros: The location is amazing. The ambiance inside is nice- lots of plants. The high ceilings make the room feel bigger than it is. Cons: Communication. The building and room require codes. Several days before our arrival, I received a message asking for my arrival time. I said around 3pm. The morning of, I received the exact same message. I responded 9am that we would arrive between 3-4. The message gave me the numbers of Maricruz and Anthony and it said I would receive the codes before check-in (3pm). We arrived at 3:45pm. No codes. I called Maricruz. No answer. Anthony. No answer. I texted that we had arrived and did not have codes to get in. I called both numbers again. Still no answer. My partner went across the street to the market owned by the same people. They tried to contact Maricruz. I called again. All while standing outside in the blistering heat with our luggage. I was sent to voicemail after 1 ring and that's when I was texted the codes. At 4:21. No apology. No acknowledgement that they were late, that there was any inconvenience. No offer of anything. Just...the codes.

The place is a gem, right at the Plaza De Colon. The bed is comfortable and the air conditioning works great. There is a common area that allows you to make coffee and tea and microwave. It is close to some great bars and restaurants.

Wonderful location in Old San Juan! Walking distance to attractions, restaurants and shops. Basic room but clean. No windows. The courtyard was so pretty, wish there would been some chairs to sit and enjoy it.

We loved that everything was near by and parking was affordable and easy. It was clean and we had great communication with the host. A must try around the corner is Sofia's Italian Steakhouse, their food was delicious. The only thing was that the bed was terribly uncomfortable.

This place was perfect! I wanted to experience Old San Juan and this place was the perfect location. You literally step on to the bustling street to wonderful experience. The bed was comfortable and the ac was heavenly. There is a small fridge in the room for cool drinks. We stayed 2 nights, which was perfect for us. There is a parking garage just a few blocks away. We were able to see the sights and experience the night life. There room is odd, it had no windows but that let us sleep late without any morning light. It was narrow with a high ceiling. For a country girl, it was an urban adventure. No patio but a cute courtyard in the community space. Just what I was looking for in this experience that was different from my usual. Communication was great. We had entry codes and wifi information early, so easy to get in and settled easily. Highly recommend for this type of adventure, so quiet but steps from everything you want from Ols San Juan. It was exactly the experience I was looking for in Old San Juan.

Hugo’s location is superb, walkable in Old San Juan anywhere. Communication with property manager/owner was very prompt. Easy self check-in/out. My only complaint is that there were sands/something on the bed and towels when we arrived, which later found out to be likely from the ceiling. Hugo staff came in to change the sheets and replaced towels as requested very promptly. I was very pleased with this stay and would highly recommend Hugo and would definitely return. Bonus, paid parking garages are also within a few minutes walk. Very convenient!
