We had a Friday Night stay after a Giants Game. It is so nice to have onsite free parking included! Now they do double park the cars but it was no big deal to leave our key with the night staff. All the staff were very friendly. As of June 2018 it appears they are updating the hotel- fresh exterior paint with the room numbers on paper taped outside. Inside the bathroom fixtures look new, too. Our bathroom door was not yet repainted, but when I see the other improvements I am ok since everything functioned and the price thru Orbitz was great! We do 1-3 overnight stays in SF every MLB season. This hotel is going on our return list! Go Giants!

Unbeatable location. Can walk everywhere. Near all attractions, and very safe neighborhood. This staff did a great job assisting in the parking situation. There was always a parking spot available. Room had a regrigerator, but no microwave. There was black mold near bathroom shower head, but I was only in the room to sleep, rest, and shower. When you shower, the water spills out all over the bathroom floor. This made some of the carpet wet (gross) on the other side of bathroom wall. The bed was clean and there were no bed bugs at all-- which is most important. Hotel provided ice and a very basic breakfast. I was fine with tea and croissants. It is more of a motel/inn, so there is no extras.. exercise room or laundry room, or pool. Its not really for young children- nothing for them. Its more for explorers and couples visiting, touring. For women, do NOT check in to one of the corner rooms near dark staircase in the back where window faces cement wall (not safe for women because anyone can just walk on to the property and stairwell). When I asked the staff to change my room, she very quickly gave me a new room in the front. New room was well lit, close to elevator, and very secure. I like that the windows also have shutters on the inside. That allows me to open the outside windows for air, but keep the wooden shutters on the inside closed for security. Women should request a room one the 2nd floor, looking on to Chesnut Street.

It was my first time staying there. Its convenient and close to Fisherma’s Warf. The area where the hotel is located is nice and clean.

We ended up in San Francisco on a whim and needed a room for the night. We decided on the Van Ness Inn based on how close it was to Fisherman's Wharf and how great the price was compared to other places nearby. Not only was the staff very courteous and friendly, but the room was adorable and clean. The only downside was that our room faced the street, so we heard all the obnoxious honks and loud engines from people driving by, but luckily we're both heavy sleepers!

Didn't expect a "hilton" stay, but expect some security that some one would not try to open my door twice! Parking is doubled up, makes it inconvenient to come and go. A lot of shady characters in and around hotel.

It was a overall good stay, the rooms were too noisy, we could hear people out on the street. The bedsheets though clean looked quite old. But a very good location.

Room is kinda small and parking was a little tight. Small price to pay to be within a mile walk of Fishermans Warf and other areas. Room was very clean.

Nice showers, and comfortable bed but it was too nossy to have a good night sleep. Motion sensor lights kept turning on in the middle of the night which freaked out my fiancé. Motel was on a busy street, dumpster trucks will come in the night to take out the garage which causes a lot loud bangs

Paid more than twice price because of a convention in town. $304. Not worth even the lesser price. The included breakfast was tiny Muffins, bananas and rolls! Nevervagain
