The room was lovely and overlooked the pool. It had a darling patio with 2 chairs. The hotel is darling- very vintage-ee. The bed was comfortable and room clean. The room was on second floor and did not have an elevator. Lugging the luggage up the stairs was not easy but doable. We had an issue with getting charged for an upsale that we did not take. We are still waiting for these charges to come off our VISA. I'm sure it will be taken care of and I'm sure it was an honest mistake. The location was excellent in terms of being close to great places to eat and near freeways.

An older hotel that is 'one of a kind'. The rooms are nice and updated. The hotel feels warm and comfortable not cold or austere. We enjoyed the restaurant's menu and excellent food preparation, underground parking and location within walking distance to North Park. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Overall a pleasant experience.

My stay was only two nights. It rained the whole time we were there. But the room was very clean. Nice queen size bed and bunkbeds for my son. No Continental breakfast but they have two restaurants in the hotel. Dennys was walking distance. Overall my stay was great.

While not 'close' to anything at least by foot, hotel is retro cool and staff is friendly --restaurant is good and pool is heated which was much needed on my December bisit when it went down to 35 degrees in Sunny and warm San Diego

I needed a hotel when I booked my tickets to San Diego. When the list of hotels came up; I noticed this hotel and it stated "downtown." So I read the reviews and the history and I was drawn to it. Well, first it was not downtown; it was in North Park; north of downtown. The hotel was built in 1946. Still a nice place with nice staff and service. They had a lot going on and it made for a great visit! Love it!

Small cramped room. No where to sit other than the bed. Loud compressor type of equipment directly outside of window.

Great staff, great food and cocktails.Beautiful space, great location.

Need some renovation on poolside rooms. It was rather smelly carpet. But the zoo and museums was closeby.

The power went out several times one night. I was not happy to be waking down creepy dark halls with pictures of old stars who have passed on all over the hallway ... I wasn't looking for a Halloween scare but I sure got one ! The staff was very nice about everything and gave us a free breakfast to make up for the sleepless night

Nice hotel, small but comfortable room, a bit noisy. We find the room clean and staff was friendly, some of the furniture is old but that is ok.

Very clean hotel, nice toiletries, great food at the lobby restaurant!

Hasn't changed much since Clark Gable was last here.

Not to comfortable beds, especially the bunk beds. Great location, staff were excellent

Nice hotel, but located far from downtown Need vehicle for arrive to downtown

Great spot very close to many attractions. Kids loved the pool, parking is easy, and staff was excellent.

The Bungalows is the place to stay for nice getaway weekend.

Very nice staff, quick checking. The room was clean had two tv's..Enjoyed the huge pool larger than most places for s u re..Very relaxed place. When you look at outside of place you think it just a cheap motel but once in the lobby its a huge beautiful place...you n will not be disappointed.

Came from Ohio for 5-day stay, hotel recommended by daughter who has small apartment not far away. Had a blast. Got a poolside room, opening out to the Olympic-sized pool (designed by Johnny Weissmuller, the original Tarzan). Had great poolside party with her friends - which included watching Cavaliers win the NBA Finals! It was Father's Day and a major crowd in the pool, including a mermaid and pirate. Lots of fun. Also early morning swims with no one in the pool. Room was very comfortable, spacious; hotel staff prompt, friendly, professional.

This a great inexpensive hotel close to the very happening North Park district. There are many good food options close by and they even have a good restaurant inside the hotel as well. The best thing is what you get for money considering San Diego's high Hotel prices. The hotel is very reminicent of the of the ART DECCO Miami style hotels.

Great location, Red Fox Resturant, good amenities, great pool
