It was a nice historic hotel with character. Very friendly and helpful staff. That being said the walls are very thin and was therefore very loud. Someone upstairs was walking around on creaky ceilings super early in the morning and kept me up. There are a number of adjoining rooms so people congregated in the hallway outside my door and talked pretty much all day and night. LOTS of kids during my stay that I could hear constantly. The last morning there was no hot water. For $200 a night they really could do so much better.
Rundown facility, noisy, really thin wall and squeaky ceilings.
We’ve stayed here twice before and the third time did not disappoint. Next time in San Diego, we’ll definitely stay again .
It’s good if you like pool party vibes…till 2AM people partying and yelling.
We reserved several rooms to celebrate our friends 33 birthday party. We emailed the staff and got very clear permission that our other friends could join us at the pool if they paid $10 for a bracelet. The day we arrived, the hotel changed and said we could not have guests. (I rented a room with my wife and son. Our parents were in the next room) We were still a small group and well behaved, but we were hassled several times by the manager and another staff. The manager even threatened to kick us out, although I’m not sure why. The hotel needs to work out clear and consistent rules about guests and bracelets. If you have a group, I would plan to stay at a different hotel.
I enjoyed the large pool. Parking was $22/night and cheaper than other locations. Unique design. Cons: The carpet floors in the room were old and hair wads stuck in them. Beds were thin and you could feel the springs when you moved. Thin walls.
Great pool. Large, attractive, centrally located.
Service of staff quality !
It’s charming and clean but I checked in super late and was denied a late checkout. I was never told where I could park so had to find street parking which was difficult in the neighborhood. Probably best to take a shower early because at mid morning, warm water was in short supply.
A gem. Not a cookie cutter hotel experience but a delightful, intimate, and comfortable retreat. An unbelievable pool, spacious, airy room, friendly staff, and fine outdoor restaurant.
Very charming, intimate feel. Incredible pool, although I'd ditch the music. Perfect for these Covid times.
We liked the pool area & outdoor music was good. The staff was friendly. We will definitely come back.
Nice poolside atmosphere with music and food/ drink service. On site restaurant with great food.
The Lafayette Hotel was opened in 1946. It is a charming Hotel and well kept up to today's standards. At no extra cost, they upgraded us to a suite which was lovely. It was very quiet. I will stay here again when I return.
was a amazing stay staff was awesome food was great.. only issue was my neighbor who slammed the door every hour through the night....
The rooms are always well kept and clean and staff were friendly and fast. The pool was refreshing during a hot day, but I was disappointed by the allowance of large groups of 15-20 people in the pool area. At check in, staff said only guests were being permitted at the pool, however there were a lot of people without guest bracelets that didn’t go checked until 6pm, and even then didn’t leave.
I always like staying at the Lafayette for staycations with friends. Great pool, restaurant, and bar. Plus, proximity to options around time is either a short walk or drive away.
