Great location close to the dog beach, affordable clean great views

Dog friendly, beds were clean. Has a tidied up appeal.

Yet another amazing stay at Ocean Villa Inn at Dog Beach. The property is dated, but they have painted and updated room decor. The shower is still pretty old school, but it does the job. You're paying for the incredible location, and for the dog amenities! I typically park my car and don't use it again until it's time to leave! From the back of the hotel you can see dog beach and the Pier. It is about a 5 minute walk to dip your toes in the water. If you have dogs, it is perfect! Make sure to get a "park view" dog friendly room. The patio opens up to a dog run stocked with poo bags. It's so great to not have to leash up the pups and try to find a place to do their business. After the beach, they have a fantastic setup to wash the dogs. Small and big dog tubs with soap and towels. This is worth every penny! They serve a decent breakfast every morning, I usually take a protein shake or sandwich to the beach for lunch, and then walk the dogs 10-15 minutes to downtown OB with dog friendly bars and restaurants. Staff is always super great. I do think sometimes the price can get pretty steep for such old bones... location, location, location.

It's like an overpriced Motel 6 near the beach. Outside room entrance, no elevator, room in need of repair and updating (broken floor/wall tiles in bathroom, gap under door to outside, only one outlet to charge electronics in bedroom and it was nowhere near a table). Heater is high on wall and very loud. It did warm up but then it blew cold air; stayed on constantly and had a 'change filter' indicator. Homeless people sleep in the berms between the hotel and the dog beach. We paid for an ocean view room, but could only see a sliver if we went on the balcony and looked left. You do not have direct beach access from the hotel, but it's not too far of a walk. The staff was nice. Breakfast was better than expected (although both days we were there, the only fruit available was overripe bananas).

Property is close to the beach and easy walking distance to restaurants and shops. Nice views from 2nd floor units.

It's vicinity to the ocean, heated pool, dog cleaning area. I was very disappointed with the overall condition of the room. The bedding and curtain looked old. Worst of all was the odor in the room, I have stayed at other dog friendly hotels, but have not smelled urine and dog smell mixed together so badly. We tried to spend as little time in the room as possible because it felt dirty and smelled. I would recommend better cleaning supplies to clean. I feel that if people are being charged a dog fee and cleaning fee so high the expectation is set to have a clean oderless room.

I love the location and the whimsical nature of things. I love the dogs everywhere and how much this whole neighborhood caters to them. The only big complaint I have is that one of the beds in room 44 was extremely uncomfortable and I woke up with cricks in my back and neck. It was really springy and felt broken. Other than that, I was stoked to be there! Oh, also it would be cool to have different sweetener options for coffee and tea. I like honey or raw sugar. I think that's it. Thanks for a funky time!

The people at Ocean Villa Inn are amazing. Loved staying here! Will definitely say here again!

Location is great if you want to go to Dog Beach which was our main objective. You can tell that the hotel is on the older side and is basic. The one drawback that caused us to leave a night early was the fact that you can hear every movement of the person above you. It sounded like the couple above us was going to come through the ceiling at any minute. This caused our dog to freak out and we didn't get any sleep.

Check in was fantastic! I was greeted by a wonderful woman but I sadly forget her name. she was so nice and moved me to an upstairs room overlooking the dog beach because I said I was there to see the pups!! The outside looks dated but the inside of my room was great! It was decorated nicely and very clean. the pool is small but looked nice. If you are going for luxury this isn't for you but if you are going with dogs, or you love dogs then you will LOVE IT!!!! The location is amazing! You can walk to Newport Ave which is so fun. The beach is at your door. What more can you ask for?

The rooms look nothing like the pictures advertised. The beds were fairly comfy box springs but we couldn't shake the feeling of sleeping in possibly dirty blankets that were reused from the previous visitors. Also the shower looked very out dated and dirty but hey its only a shower so no big deal. On a positive note the staff were amazing. They were very friendly and helpful they also gave us multiple options on rooms that had a nice dog run/backyard sorta feel, a room without a dog run but it wreaked of cigarettes and finally the room we landed in. Also it was SUPER close to OB so that was a huge plus. Overall it was a 6/10 stay, would I go back maybe not but the price is reasonable for all that you get.

Usually more dogs running around outside the ground floor rooms, which me and my puppy missed this time. Still awesome that my husky can sleep inside or outside.
