This self-managed hostel is right in the Gaslamp area of SD which was great for night life and transportation. The property managers are very communicative and responsive to questions. My room was well kept, expect there was a wall light without anywhere to plug it in and a slight draft from a broken window. Otherwise, the other amenities in the room were great.

The property met my needs perfectly. It was conveniently located, clean and convenient to access. Note there are no onsite staff, checkin is virtual as is all communications. The 2 Queen unit i was in had two seperate bedrooms, and an in-unit private bathroom/shower. It was clean and recently renovated with simple, functional finishes.

Our stay at La Ventana was incredible! We loved how everything was clean and they provided great amenities. The location of the stay was also a plus, as it is in the center of everything within walking distance.

The place was awful. The entire hotel smelled dirty, and the shared bathrooms were filthy. There were drunk residents partying loudly all night, and no staff or attendant was present to handle the situation. I couldnā€™t get any sleep and felt completely unsafe. Definitely not worth the money, and I would never stay here again.

Very Bad Experience ā€“ Would Not Recommend This was one of the worst hotel experiences Iā€™ve ever had. The room wasnā€™t very clean, and there was no private bathroom or shower ā€” you have to share with everyone on the floor. The shower door didnā€™t lock from the inside, so anyone could walk in while it was occupied, which felt very unsafe. My room was directly above a night bar, and the loud music from 8 PM until 2 AM made it impossible to rest, especially when I had to wake up at 6 AM for work. On top of that, there was a strong smell of cigarettes (or something similar) throughout the area. There was no thermostat in the room, so you couldnā€™t adjust the temperature for comfort. Overall, I wouldnā€™t recommend this place to anyone. Itā€™s not suitable for rest, work trips, or anyone expecting basic comfort and privacy.

The property is in a good location. However, my door handle felt a bit broken although you don't need it because of the electronic lock. Overall the location met my needs. However, i feel that some of the interior could be improved and would have liked some capability of storing luggage securely which is something i often use on the day i'm checking out.

Four night stay

Newly furnished room. Nice fridge, nice microwave, nice decor overall. But very noisy location, on top of a bar! Loud music till past midnight and some nights 2 am. Like the floor was shaking. Didnā€™t warn me. When I reach out to change room, manager declined. This was a business trip, needed good night sleep, but didnā€™t get any. Oh one more thing, bed sheets were paper thin. Good bar and food in walking distance.

One of the best locations to stay in Gaslamp. Everything is walking distance. The rooms are well ventilated and decent size to relax and re energize. The only downside is that the room did not come with an iron or hair dryer. Besides that, it was a great place. I would definitely come back to stay there.
