We arrived at the hotel at 450 and there was a sign at the front desk stating that an employee had left and would return shortly. It was almost 30 minutes before an employee returned to the desk. The lobby also had a smell of urine from an animal. The beds we’re very very firm I know some people like that but it made for a hard night of sleep. The couch bed had also seen better days. When we turned on the ac unit a few ants crawled out so a little bit of a surprise. The hotel has very assessable parking and is close to most things.

It’s located in hotel circle, so it wasn’t that bad for a location. Got a room that’s pretty big and easy access from the parking lot to the room

The staff are amazing and helpful

Staff

Staffs are very nice. Rooms are clean. Have a nice kitchen so that we can make hot tea and noodles.

Clean, Spacious room, Kitchen with all utensils and glasses.

It started with finding out it was being changed to a Candlewood Hotel on June 18th so no sign even out for Hawthorne. First suite one toilet flooded bathroomn and wouldn't stop running as soon as got in room-had to c hange to another room. If we could have found other hotel with suite we would have left. Construction work all over the place-hazzard to children we had with us-we were only guests on entire 3rd floor due to this. We had to eat out every breakfast as had temp breakfast in tiny little 2nd floor room with all the workers in there taking up all the room and just muffins and bagels out and not clean looking so we couldn't eat there. Workers stayed on working until dark with lots of noise. Elevators couldn't be used as had out of order signs due to constructions stuff in them. Then no one from staff EVER apologized for any of this or offered less fee, We can't believe we were not advised of any of this-simply awful! Nails all over the place, saws, hammers, yada yada-would have been a good Seinfield eposode it was so pathetic.

It was ok they were going threw remodeling and got moved around a lot when I wasn't told til that day. Also the shower pressure was horrible and they never fixed it when they said they would.

Hotel is in serious need of updating. Stains on carpet, dreary looking but staff very nice and it is in a great location. Priced appropriately. Breakfast just OK

Nice facilities, great transportation to airport, excellent breakfast choices, spacious room, pleasant personnel

This hotel is all suites and the room was great. We had a bedroom with TV, a good-sized bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen (with all utensils and cookware) and the living room area with sofa, easy chairs, desk and chairs and another larger TV. On top of this, a complimentary hot breakfast, juices, coffee, tea, etc. is available to all guests just off the lobby. It was clean, fresh, newer looking and the staff was friendly.

This location was close to family and friends The Desk staff are helpful - let us check in early. The room was OK the kitchen adequate but the heating was inadequate for the cold week we spent in San Diego. The heater on high couldn't keep the main room warm, and the heat never got to the bathroom. The clothes closet was in the other end of this rectangular unit and inconvenient. The continental breakfast was the same every day and needed more fresh fruit choices.

Hotel was in nice part of town and centralized to all our tourist like destinations. Very roomy and clean suite.

Great location, just minutes from Old Town, Balboa Park and the harbor. The staff is so very friendly, they make you feel at home. The kitchenette is well equipped, even has a dishwasher. The beds were comfy and breakfast each morning was plentiful. A full sized pool would have been nice, but we were so busy sightseeing that it was hardly missed. There are both trolley and bus transportation close to the hotel. All in all, it was great and we plan on returning to Hawthorn Suites next year!

Room was suppose to have 2 TV one which should have been plasma screen. At check in the only room they could give us was one without a plasma screen TV. They didn't say which TV was not in room if they had I would have asked for a different room. The working TV was poor quality and the remote didn't work well. The TV was not in the "living room" area of the room and we don't like to watch TV in bed. We could have stayed in a regular hotel not a suite hotel if I had known the TV was in the bedroom. One morning I had a cold shower as the hot water was gone after about a minute. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great.

Freindly Staff, good breakfast, nice location, big rooms. Over all nice time. Would def stay again.

The rooms are super spacious and had everything a person needed. It felt like being home away from home! Definitely the best of 3 star hotels and I would absolutely come back here again.

This hotel has an excellent location back away from the freeway, so its quiet. The rooms are extremely spacious for the price, and the place is kept clean. The place is very old and basic though, and if you want to be pampered this is not for you. It is a good value for the money though if you need a comfy place to stay. They have good hot breakfast. Didn't use the pool but it didn't look like much from what I saw. The gym is a joke, two machines were broken, and the two available felt like they would break any minute. They have coin laundry which I thought was cool. Overall a great basic place for a longer, comfortable, economic stay. Freeway access is easy, and location is central to all of San Diego

I come to San Diego for business 2-4 times per month and have finally found a hotel for under $100 on weekdays that is clean, comfortable, includes a furnished kitchen, and a huge living room in addition to the bedroom. I've stayed at several hotels in this price range and have been dissapointed by damp, dirty rooms and an average overall stay. This hotel will be where I stay from now on!!!! The breakfast is really good too!!! There is a room service menu and a pizza delivery menu in the room.

The staff made this ordinary hotel stay, pleasurable. They were happy to assist in any way to accommodate your needs.
