My stay at the Hotel Bo was fantastic. It's a great hotel not too far from the action of downtown San Cristobal de las Casas. The manager, Luis definitely went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect for my stay. The entire hotel staff was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, although there's so much to do in San Cristobal that I wasn't in it except to sleep! The breakfast in the morning was delicious and so were the cocktails at the bar. The only warning I have for light sleepers is, you can definitely hear neighborhood roosters going off at the crack of dawn, which is a nice experience in itself, unless you'd like to sleep in. Overall, I had a great stay and I'd love to go back.
We loved our stay at Hotel Bo. We felt very cared for by everyone from the front desk to bar staff and restaurant team. Very close to all the markets and square this hotel has an ideal location . The style and design is relaxing and contemporary. Lovely touches through out including great little places to read and relax. We stayed outside reading and watching the humming birds around the beautiful gardens and water features. We loved our spacious and comfortable room.
It was amazing to me seeing a hotel with such a great review, but once there I can understand the reasons why, I have to said it was a perfect place for a family weekend. This 5 years property is very well maintained, perfectly clean and looks exactly as per hotel website pictures. Hotel staff was great, they really made our stay confortable and home like. My only complaint is about air conditioner that was noisy, but other than that, everything was above expectation. No matter what is your plan, family or couple, this is the perfect place for you. The hotel price is wide above the average in San Cristobal De Las Casas but is worthy every single penny, I suggest to call directly to the hotel and probably make a better deal, better than going thru the web. Hope this helps.
Located near the center of San Cristobal is this "boutique" hotel. We didn't stay but we went for coffee and breakfasts. The food was very good and also the service. Prices were great ( about 20 dollars per person). Would consider stay if ever back in San Cristobal.
When you walk into Hotel Bo off the streets of San Cristobal de las Casas, you immediately notice the very contemporary interior, and the immaculate interior courtyards, gardens and water features. The service is also very good and personalised (e.g. bringing you welcome drinks). Our room was well appointed and modern. However there were some issues which explains my rating: - Ground floor room - the room was on the ground floor, with the only window facing an exterior walkway running the length of the hotel between rooms, with people walking past regularly. Because of this we had to have the mesh curtains screened the whole time, which made the room feel dark and cavern like. - Wifi - the wifi in the room was not good. We ended up having to sit in the common areas if we needed reliable internet. - Food poisoning - on our first night in the hotel, we ate at the hotel restaurant. The food was very good (as other reviewers have also mentioned), and one of the dishes I ordered was the ceviche. However the next day I had quite serious diarrhoea, which took me a week to recover from. Arguably I brought this on myself, as the menu specifically had a warning that diners consumed raw seafood at their own risk. But as someone who regularly eats raw seafood, and who had eaten ceviche in Mexico previously, I did not think this would be an issue, especially at a hotel at Hotel Bo's price point. I was not happy that this occurred.
All the employees of the Bo hotel are very kind and helpful. The receptionists, the bellboys, the waiters. When we arrived with our wheelchair they helped by opening the door, carrying suitcases, ... When we needed a doctor they called the doctor, they helped to find the address of the hospital, to take a taxi, etc, ... They were very precious for us. I'm not happy with the restaurant because we had half board and a certain evening there was a special tasting menu that the chef obliged us to take. We could not take something else from the menu. The food is quiet good. The room and bathroom is well equiped with amenities. (First time of the five hotels we did during our tour in Mexico). Happy to have had a massage but they have to change the masseuse because I did not enjoy it so much because she made me pain. A swimming pool would have been great.
The facade is deceiving--plain and unassuming, but upon entering you immediately see that this is a different kind of hotel. The staff are instantly welcoming and helpful, and the view into the interior courtyard is a hint of what is to come. The lobby is informal with a small bar and lounge areas next to the check-in desk. The other side of the courtyard houses the excellent restaurant Lum. I was here for a 4-day staff retreat and was assigned room 14, upstairs on a corner overlooking the interior garden, lush with flowering plants and water features and sitting areas. The king-size bed was extremely comfortable, and the well designed bathroom fills the back of the room, which can be shut-off with sliding doors, mirrored on the bathroom side. Separate toilet and shower rooms are on either side with frosted glass doors. The rainfall shower was particularly luxurious. The design combines sleek contemporary elements with rustic local touches. A large wooden and concrete desk accommodated the work I needed to accomplish on this business trip. Two well-designed closet spaces just outside the bathroom on either side easily held clothes and luggage. I especially liked the neon room numbers outside each room. An upstairs library-lounge provides a relaxing place to read and have coffee. There is a separate building in the back with wall-length windows looking out into the garden, which was a perfect spot for our planning meetings for 12 people. Service was excellent, more akin to that on a cruise ship, where staff would tidy-up your room throughout the day as needed. And we had several excellent meals at Lum, the hotel's well-reviewed restaurant. My only complaint is that someone needs to make chicken soup from the rooster next door, who crows throughout the day and night. The hotel, at least, provides ear-plugs.
We spent 3 happy and delightful days here. Would love to return. Staff: Amazing. Will go far beyond duty to be helpful. All are so friendly and courteous. Room: At the far end of the corridor we had our own balcony, and not bothered by passersby. All rooms were well fitted out. Comfortable bed, desk and large bathroom / robe area. Cleanliness: Excellent. Communal areas: all very comfortable. Restaurant: one of the best in Mexico (see review for Lum) Improvement: More heating in communal areas. Quite chilly in the restaurant with front door always open and doors to courtyards constantly opened. Guests often sitting with overcoats on. My bedside light could only be operated from the other side. (Certainly a minor issue)
This is one of the better hotels in San Cristobal and it has beautiful grounds. Not ostentatious. The staff is very nice and helpful. The restaurant is also very good. Very good location. The hotel arranged for a driver to pick us up at Tuxtla Gutierrez and take us to Sumidero Canyon which is on the way to San Cristobal.
The staff were warm and helpful. The food is varied and incredibly tasty (two of us were vegetarians and there are excellent vegetarian options). The design is stunning and modern. The location is fantastic.
