El Tropicano Riverwalk Hotel

My wife and I decided to stay another night, we had gotten trapped at the other hotel with false representation of there amenities. We Found this hotel and to our amazement they surpassed all expectations and made us feel very welcome. We definitely will refer friends and will be back.

El Tropicana is a nice hotel, but in need of updating. Beds are newer, tables and chairs in good condition, but heating / cooling system is old and bathrooms may not have been updated since built. The Tiki Bar is cool place to unwind and all of the staff is very friendly and helpful. Just outside of the main riverwalk area...about 10 minute walk.

Hotel, in general, was nice. Valet parking cost the same as self parking, worked out well and convenient. Room VERY small, probably as far away from front desk as possible. Heater didn't work. We were freezing in the room. Called desk, told someone would come look at it. 45 minutes later, called again. Front desk said she had not been told, "not my fault" she said. Finally, 15 minutes later maintenance showed up. After about 10 minutes, heater kicked on. Never got hot, just warm enough not to require second blanket to sleep.

Price not bad and goes according with three stars hotel

Clean hotel room, close to shops, Alamo, Riverwalk, the rate would be better if it included parking

Rooms didn't have enough towels . Had to call all 5 days for towels . Beautiful hotel otherwise ☺

Pool was not available, they were sending to another hotel to use pool .. staff not helpful

The linens were dirty, the air conditioner was so noisy we preferred to turn it off and deal with the heat. There was hair on the shower walls. The staff appeared to be bothered. bothered to have been working there. The pool closed down the day I arrived Wednesday and was not going to reopen until Saturday, I had a pool side room which was not discounted since the pool was out of order. Needless to say, we moved to a different hotel. I will never go back to this hotel again.

Pleasant stay. Late night security was very helpful

We enjoyed the beauiful stroll along the Riverwalk each evening as we went to and from dinner. The quiet little bar off the lobby was the prefect spot for an after dinner drink.

This hotel is pricey as are the other hotels in the area. However, I'd pay a few more bucks and stay somewhere else. Our bathroom was gross and dirty. The rooms are tiny and have full size beds. Our family of 4 was on top of each other. I called to get extra coffee. Then I called 3 more times in the hour it took to be delivered. It was delivered while I was at the front desk getting it myself. Breakfast is not included. Finally, the girl at checkout did not ask me how my stay was. Handed me my bill and that was it. I stared at her waiting for some sort of exchange and she just said "that's it." Our super 8 stay was better than this place. And you might want to know that self parking is $16.

It was good the hotel is right on the river and they have excellent customer service everyone is so nice the only thing I didn't like was having to pay for parking when you're already staying there it should be free parking

Had a great stay. It is a very nice hotel and on the river walk. We walked down town every day and even walked home at night.

The hotel is nice but you can see and feel it's age. The humidity with poor AC could be felt when you walked into your room. The door was difficult to close due to either swollen walls (humid) or just shifting walls because of age, and the tub drain needed work. But it was clean, friendly and the lobby reminded me of Ricky Ricardo (from I Love Lucy). It's a good place to stay if you don't plan to hang out. It's close to the River Walk.

The room had cockroaches. Walking away from everything

If you are not into the hustle and bustle of the busyness of the riverwalk, this is a great quiet spot.

We stayed here during our sons BMT graduation weekend. We didn't spend much time at the hotel other than to shower and sleep, so this hotel was a great choice for us. It was clean, staff was friendly, and it was close to the downtown attractions if you are up for a short walk. The restaurant was not great, the bathroom lacked counter space, and vending machines did not work. But, for the price we paid, and the fact that we wanted to dine elsewhere on the river walk anyway, this hotel was a perfect choice for us.

Convenient location, nice staff, helpful, easy to get around hotel facilities and handy parking.

The ac made noise the whole time. I did not get a good night sleep.

Ok..... Room was far far away from an elevator! Room was smaller than pictures showed.
